Has the Waiver Wire Darling for 2012 Been Found Yet? (2 Viewers)

Who is it so far? Or have they not been unearthed yet? Too early?

Andrew Hawkins? Andre Brown? Dennis Pitta? Alfred Morris?

Could make a solid case for Pitta but I feel someone from the WW will surpass him in value by year's end. Similar for Bennett and Rudolph though these two were drafted in most competitive leagues. The other WW finds this year do not look primed to have a permanent prominent spot in their respective offenses. I like Hawkins a lot but he still seems like a bit part once his TD rate comes to earth. Very few Vic Cruzes out there, more likely it's a guy who steps up for a season-long injury replacement.

People who acquire Jerome Simpson this week are going to be very pleased with their pickups. I also think thus far the ultimate combo of skill opportunity and injury prone players in front of them would be Ramses Barden. Between Cruz and Nicks injuries he will probably start 4-5 games and be a stud in each of them.

the fact that the OP raised the question would tell you the the answer is no. Pitta is good but he's a different league than Cam, Graham, Warner (1999) etc. I think the WW darling is still forthcoming.

Assuming LeShoure and AlfMo were rostered before week 1 in most leagues, my picks for best post-week 1 WW pickups thus far are Andre Brown and Pitta.

As has been mentioned, though, almost every year there's an undrafted stud like Portis/Vick/Cruz/Warner/MJD/DeMarco Murray, etc, etc.

Does Brown end up surpassing Bradshaw permanently, getting a RB1 opportunity? We'll see.

My "bold" prediction for WW Pickup of 2012 is Lamar Miller.

Because all of the obvious ones were already taken...

I can see Michael Floyd starting on the outside opposite Fitz soon and kicking Roberts into the slot. Good things often happen when talent meets opportunity.

andre brown isnt a WW darling. he only would be if bradshaw didnt play the rest of the year. he wont do anything the rest of the year unless bradshaw is out.

hawkins should be a much better value in the coming weeks. they will figure out how to get him invloved more and he should be the one i think.

Morris I'd say is hands down the best guy that was on most waivers after league drafts. The wasn't named the starter until very shortly prior to week 1. In Yahoo leagues Royster and Helu were both rostered at higher % than him to start the regular season. The guy right now has likely been an RB1 in standard formats and a RB2 in PPR. Have we found Peyton Hillis, Victor Cruz or Michael Vick? No not really. But I'd say right now Morris is the front runner for the 2012 Darling Award. That said I believe those Hillis, Cruz, Vick types are usually found between that Week 3-5 slot. So if the guy hasn't been found yet keep an eye out.

Honestly? It just might end up being Andrew Hawkins, he's in a very very similar situation to the situation Cruz was in last season. The speedy slot guy with good after the catch moves than can turn a 1 yard pass into a 80 yard touchdown but can also break coverage down field. Also like Cruz last year he has a big WR across from him that causes a lot of attention in the game plan. Granted Dalton is not on the same level of Eli Manning. But either way the situation is similar.

I think it's Pitta in most leagues--at least so far. I think he keeps it up and I'm guessing guys like Alf Morris and LeShoure were rostered in most leagues by week 1. Could be Andre Brown if he ends up carving out a decent role in that offense, but I have my doubts he does this.

I have Pitta rostered and I don't think it's him - I don't think he's on the field enough to sustain this run - I hope I am wrong - but time will tell.

Yeah, Alfred Morris. I'd say Pitta is second. I've signed both. Morris is giving good numbers and for now seems to have a grip on the starting RB job in DC.

I hope you're right on Miller as I picked him up 2 weeks ago.

In a PPR league Pitta could easily end up as a top 3 TE this year, behind Graham and Gronkowski. Although, Tony Gonzalez is making that tough.

There isn't going to be any other WW players that could end up in the top 3 of their position.

Now, on a PPG basis there might be, but it isn't anyone acquired yet. It'd have to be some talented RB who randomly takes over the job and does something unexpected, like Bernard Scott going all Jamaal Charles or something after a BJGE injury.

I see little chance of Brown surpassing Bradshaw. Bradshaw is so good in so many facets of the game, including blocking, that he's simply a better and more complete player than Brown and will see the field accordingly.

for dynasty leagues Pitta and Hawkins IMO. Not that Morris hasn't been great, but hard to believe Shanny will let this guy be the future starter for years to come. Sooner or later, he has to f with us FF guys. :)

:goodposting:I hope you're right and I hope the Shark Pool discovers this gem before the rest of the FF world does. My $ team could use some help. Everyone mentioned in this thread has already been picked up. I do think Andre Brown will be very productive the rest of the year, even with Bradshaw healthy. He's been running people over and looking solid.

Could be Heath Miller- he's been a stud at the position so far, but possibly went undrafted.
Here is a quote from Big Ben this year regarding Miller:

"We're trying to get him to the Pro Bowl. He's deserved it for a long time. Heath is a weapon and we have to continue to use him out in the field and in the red zone. Like I've always said, he blocks like a lineman and catches like a receiver. If we keep utilizing him it will be big."

In PPR leagues Jeremy Kerley.

Kerley keeps putting up good numbers, but most people still aren't taking him seriously. I don't expect him to catch TDs every week, but IMO he has a good chance to emerge as the move-the-chains WR for the Jets and a solid flex play in PPR leagues.

Notwithstanding any major RB injuries, I think the clock is running out for Waiver Wire darlings. Guys like Brandon Lloyd and Victor Cruz were already making noise by this time of their breakout years. I would put the clock at Week 4 or 5. After that, any breakouts will be due to injury, in my opinion. Right now (taking current injuries into account) my picks would be:

Vincent Brown (he probably has the most potential to REALLY breakout like the aformentioned guys)

Leonard Hankerson

Jerome Simpson

Lamar Miller (injury case - but since Bush is already banged up and could very well suffer a more serious setback, I thought I'd mention him)

In that order? I own Hankerson and am considering dropping him for Simpson. As insurance for Percy.
