Murrey may just be that guy, but help me if there are others...
Ridley - BJGE a little banged up, could have turf toe, admitted playing hurt... Ridley was the feature back on the first drive, giving way to fellow rookie Shane Vereen on just one snap. From the second quarter on, though, Ridley was limited to kickoff returns with BenJarvus Green-Ellis taking over as the lead back.
Tanner - Jones & Choice a little banged up, Murrey ahead of him, but 1 or 2 fumbles or injury... Coach Jason Garrett was pleased with Phillip Tanner's performance in garbage time against the Rams last week. "He did a real nice job," Garrett said. "You guys have heard me talk about guys taking advantage of the opportunities they get and Phillip has done that since Day One. ... We handed him the ball six times yesterday and he was productive with that." With Tashard Choice (shoulder) banged up, Tanner could move up to No. 2 on the depth chart for this week's game against the Eagles.
Hunter - Gore playing well, but he has already surpassed half of the carries he had last year in six games. While this might be great for a second or third year man, Gore is no spring chicken. The trend will not continue or the wheels will fall off the bus.
Ivory - Ingram a little banged up, Thomas meh, Sproles situational... Ivory came in last year and did what we're looking for this year.
I've been toying with the date of when I'm going to pick up Hunter for several weeks. I've been hedging my bets so far...
[*]2007 - Missed week 9 : Started 15 games with 12 plus carries in every other game.
[*]2008 - Missed weeks 15/16 : Started 14 games. Weeks 12, 13, 14 and 17 had incredibly very poor rushing/receiving stats.
[*]2009 - Missed weeks 4/5 : Started 14 games but essentially missed week 3 as he had 1 carry before injury.
[*]2010 - Missed weeks 13-17 : Started 11 games but had pretty strong rushing totals before going down. 203 carries for 800+ yards and 46 receptions 450 yds.
Through 6 games in Gore's amassed 109 carries. This is just under (116) the amount of carries he had at this time last year. However, because of the lack of receptions he isn't getting as many hits or tackles; something to consider. 12 receptions this year compared to 33 receptions at this same time last year. Either way, Gore will fall based on previous years as an indicator. 1 game, 2 games, 3 games, 5 games, X games. It might be wise to go ahead and pick up Kendall to make sure you get him before it's too late.
To curve this back to the original topic, I don't buy into Murray. Perhaps it's my bias, but there are a bunch of RB's that seem to eat into carries in the dome. I don't believe in a one week wonder.
It's the same reason I didn't start Cam after week 1.
If/when Gore takes a fall, I believe Kendall will receive the lion's share. This is who i'm voting for.
