Yeah, I never got into Treme & True Blood.

Never got into Treme either. I wish they just gave David Simon more seasons of The Wire instead of greenlighting this. True Blood is decent. Entourage hasn't been as good the last few seasons, but I'll watch the final season. Curb has a new season starting July 10 as well. That I'm definitely looking forward to.

I'm curious about the reaction of those who hadn't read the books to the finale. Knowing that Dany was going to go into the fire and come out with three little friends was far different than if you weren't really clear on whether dragons ever existed and/or were the stuff of legend. Either way, I thought this was brilliant television, and a proud adaption of the source material.

i liked the episode a lot. sure you could see some of the things coming, but you can't really expect a show to surprise you every week. For me, I thought it did a great job of cleaning up a few things (like Sansa and how she would be after Joffrey ruined her dreams, etc.), and really set the stage for the next season with each piece of the plot having some intrigue in it. I thought it was a real good episode, and I look forward to the dragons being part of the fix for the White Walkers (i have no idea if this is the case, but it would seem that fire-breathing dragons would be a good ally to have against the White Walkers)

Question for nonbook readers that I am curious about:What is your impression of Ros the redheaded whore as a character?

I'm not positive. I think she is an interesting character that has the capability to be more then a whore, and seems to align herself with all the powerful and right people (seeing how she seems to have slept with quite a few of the characters). I don't know how far she can move up the ladder from her status, and I don't know what her motivations are, but I think she'll be an interesting character.It is interesting to compare her to Tyrion's girl he is bringing with him back to the castle and the slave girl who Bran is hanging out with at the castle. All 3 women seem capable and intelligent enough to hold their own, the question is what does each want to accomplish. It seems like the Wild girl does not hold a strong allegiance with going back to her tribes, so i am really not sure where she will end up

Yeah, I never got into Treme & True Blood.

I finished the book last night. The book certainly allows more insight into chatters and their motives, especially Ned and Tyrion. The show should have dine some flashbacks or dream sequences other than just with Bran's 3-eyed crow.

Some of those added scenes In the show that weren't in the book, however, were some of the strongest in the series and moved the story along quite well.

At this point I'd say HBO did an excellent job and I'm liking both iterations equally.

This for non readers, dont want spoilers. Just speculating Now that Danny got the dragons she will be super powerful obviously. But whats her objective? to wipe out all other kingdoms? I can see her and Robb's army team up to rule world. Joffrey cant survive this next season with all the armys coming against him. Will be interesting to see what happens when Renly and Stallin (whatever the brothers name is) want a piece of throne

I think they will for sure have the DVDs ready before Christmas. Release those in late Nov/early Dec and then re-run the show in late Jan as the warmup to season 2.

Incest was still taboo back then. It was only the Targaryens who practiced it and no one said anything about it to them because, hey they had dragons. If the Lannisters win the war and write the history, history will show their incest to be no big deal either. Cersei only mentioned the Targaryens because she was looking for justification for her actions, despite the fact that she was in love with Robert at one point.

Correct. He's the middle brother and the oldest now that Robert's taking a dirt nap. Since Cersei's kids are illegitimate, he's got the best Baratheon claim to the throne.AFAIK he hasn't been cast yet and it'll be interesting to see who gets the part; also interested to see how the writers depict him.

I don't think we've seen him. He's Robert and Renly's other brother. He's living on Dragon Stone which was given to him by his brother after the rebellion. This was the home of the Targaryen's before they were vanquished.

Definitely. I don't usually go for fantasy/mystical/magical stuff but it's pretty good. You are right that the first episode isn't great. But it grows on you pretty quickly after that.
