My guess is that is the shows version of reek. Who will get him into trouble and "save" him a bunch of times until he reveals himself as ******* Ramsay Bolton.
Could be - one of the guys chasing Theon referred to the character as "you *******" right before he was shot - maybe a bit of foreshadowing ...

I also enjoy any scene with the Hound in it. The whole walking to the paddy wagon scene was pretty good.

So from some of the shows and discussions I have been wondering if there is a big political or social statement that Martin is trying to say with this series or if it is just an excuse for some really cool stuff to happen. So is the point a large philosophical question and / or answer or is the art the point? All in all I think the point is the answer to Varys's riddle.

Hoat was the leader of a mercenary group called The Bloody Mummers....who actually switched sides at least once in the Lannister/North war. They ran out of Harrenhall with The Mountain while Tywin was there and were left in charge of it when Tywin left. Then they caught Jamie and Briene. They've elminated the mercenary part and just made him/them Roose Bolton's men....although it was odd that there were singing while walking so I imagine they just left that back in.

Yes I think so. These Bolton's are a sour and reactionary bunch. But not sure why they wouldn't go ahead with their plans now that the hand chopping is out of the way.

But given that in the book all the wildlings on the expedition get killed, and Tormund has a big part in future events in the books, they're going to have to take some interesting twists in the show now that they've included Tormund in the expedition when he wasn't involved with it in the books.

My only concern is that they kill off Tormund prematurely. That would suck. I doubt it happens, so I'm mostly saying I'm interested in seeing how they tweak things to avoid that outcome.

I, for one, would be disappointed if the Spoiler Tags went away. I've been watching the show and then once the season is done I read the book. That way I get more info and can enjoy new material twice, basically. I also appreciate the knowledge the people that have read the book bring to the discussion here to point out other details I may have forgotten. But that's just me. This may sound silly, but I think the discussion in this thread is a little more informed and in depth as well, so I get more out of it. In the end, though, I still want to be surprised. So the Spoiler Tags really help me out a bit.

I really should have read the books after. I find it confuses things because I am always trying to reconcile what I am seeing on the screen with my experience with the books and that's not fair. Earlier today someone expressed that they felt one of the story lines on the show was confusing, but it's only confusing because they read the books and are expecting one thing to be happening when for the sake of presentation and adaptation to television they are just portraying things a different way. It will still be an excellent story, it just won't be the SAME story.

I've read all the books, and I agree with this post. The way we've been handling this thread the last few years really made the show and reading the books better for me.

I'm feeling better about things this season. I'm able to appreciate the show because I don't remember every little detail of Swords right now, but at the same time, I really enjoy when subtle hints of what is to come in later seasons are being dropped. Like
the Iron Bank and Little Finger heading to the Vale or Shae starting to get jealous of Tyrion and Sansa

Storms is the leading candidate for a re-read right now for me. I remembered that book being so great at the time and now seeing the plots advance on the show its reminding me just how awesome it was!

Tyrion and Sansa may be married the same day as Joff in a smaller ceremony, but since that's the last night they see each other, it has to happen before justice is served.

I remember this order because of the consummation (or lack thereof) on the wedding night of Tyrion and Sansa. I can't wait until Joff dies. My wife hates him, naturally, and I've been telling her he lives through all 5 books just to get her blood boiling.
