Side Story....

Coin toss for Brady

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will participate in the coin toss prior to Super Bowl XL in Detroit, the league announced on the NFL Network today.

In announcing Brady's role with the coin toss, NFL officials noted he will become the first active, non-participating player to be involved with the coin toss.

With the Super Bowl being held in Detroit, it will be a homecomeing of sorts for Brady, who played at the University of Michigan.

Maybe he will get MVP for this! lol

I just saw this news. God forbid that asschin doesn't get to be on TV for a superbowl.

What if Brady starts to toss the coin, changes his mind, and drops it. Will it count or will they have to do it over?

Tuck rule.

This is so stinking funny, what an insult to Seattle and Pittsburg. The big game, their chance to shine and all the sudden"Oh by the way, America just loves that Tom Brady, so he will be the center of attention just prior to kickoff!!" THIS IS WHEN EVERYONE IS TUNED IN! Catch that first funny comercial, see who wins the coin toss bet, and get your fix of a Patriot during the big game.Somebody needs to ask Joey Porter what he thinks aout Tom Brady doing the coin toss. Porter could very well level him before he gets to midfield.

Porter wouldn't live to play the Super Bowl.

:goodposting: Very crappy thing for the NFL to do.

Have to agree. With all of the great former players, why would you bring in Brady to do this? Why not a former Lion like Barry Sanders or Mike Utley?

The best thing is that his QB rating will be better than both Roest and Hasslebeck's. And thats with an incomplete for one pass.

More details have become available regarding Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's involvement with the opening coin toss in Super Bowl XL.

According to NFL Director of Corporate Communications Brian McCarthy, Brady will toss the coin before the game.

The NFL is assembling more than 30 Super Bowl MVPs on the field before the game as part of its season-long campaign to celebrate 40 years of Super Bowls. The league will begin the game by saluting the current players, and has chosen Brady -- the two-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time Super Bowl champion -- to represent all current players.

Brady becomes the first active, non-participating player to flip the coin for a Super Bowl game.

After the game, two-time Super Bowl MVP Bart Starr will be part of a ceremony that recognizes all past players.

A complete list of who has tossed the Super Bowl coin, supplied by the NFL:

I didnt think they used a heads and tails coin for the super bowl dont they have a coin with the two teams logos on it and which ever is face up gets to pick if they want offense or defense.

They always tell you which side of the coin represents heads, and which represents tails....that is how the refs messed it up a few years ago.
