Near the end of the first half against New England, Patrick Mahomes tossed the ball to Tyreek Hill on a swing route. The official play-by-play says:
1st & 10 at NE 35
(1:41 - 2nd) (Shotgun) P.Mahomes pass short left to T.Hill ran ob at NE 27 for 8 yards (S.Gilmore)
However, the replay clearly shows that the ball was thrown backwards from Mahomes to Hill. Therefore, this should have been scored as a rushing play.
There is a good chance that the NFL will review this play and issue a stat correction on Wednesday evening. If so, the following stat changes will take place:
Mahomes: 275 passing yards (instead of 283), 25 completions (instead of 26), 39 attempts (instead of 40)
Hill: 54 receiving yards (instead of 62), 5 receptions (instead of 6), 16 rushing yards (instead of 8), 3 rushing attempts (instead of 2)
This could also potentially affect those who started the Patriots' D/ST in leagues that have different cutoffs for Rushing Yards Allowed and Passing Yards Allowed, as they'll go from 75/271 to 83/263.
