I was listening to Heart today for whatever reason. Only 70s, none of the 80s stuff.

Magic Man

Dog and Butterfly

Crazy on You

Dreamboat Annie

Barracuda

Really good music.

I think i've told the story here before - used to know a poker dealer in Reno who was a drummer for the Wilson Sisters when they were in high school. They practiced in a barn and would often go skinnydipping afterward. Chris's eyes would glaze over every time he talked about them and you could never tell if it was how close he came to being in Heart that caused it or the midnight swims (he preferred Annie, btw).

So he was never "in"?

Annie - high school boobs

neither way. i was with 8 wimmens at once in my r&r days, but i'd trade it for a swim w Nancy......
 Nancy then and Nancy now. I guess back in the day I could see your friend going after Ann, but definitely not after she ballooned up in the 90's/early 2000s.

Yes it is.  Seen Heart in concert a couple of times in the 80s.  Much heavier live than what I expected when I saw them the first time.  Actually I didn't care....since all I did was stare at Nancy Wilson for two hours.....so damn hot

70s Heart is classic.....we'll still be listening to these songs 30 years from now.

There was some good songs from Heart in the 80s, but much of that material sounds dated when I listen to it.

A couple sisters I knew in college used to duet Dog and Butterfly like it was their life's work. Killed it every time. Unfortunately never shagged.

Ann lost some of that weight. She is still thick, but not near as large as she once was. She has always had a pretty face weight gain or not. Her vocals are my favorite from any female rock singer.

Heart has always said their biggest influence is Led Zeppelin.
Pretty easy to hear (& see) that, but they were a much tighter band than Zep - way less sloppy, though more "corporate". YMMV on which is better.

Annie was a bazillion times a better singer than Plant.

Been hearing lotsa Zep hate the last year or so - smells of backlash for gagaguilt of some misspent youths. After the screeching, lemonsqueezing glee i found in Zep2, i was nowhere near the fan most were, so perhaps feel less need to compensate (not just talking my gudbud UH here). Plant defined & dominated rock singing of the 70s like Jagger did the 60s and has only Paul Simon as competition for maintaining credibility & vibrancy longer than any rock artist.

Can't argue with most of what you say here but Page had a way around a studio like no almost no one else and created some vinyl that others (such as Heart) used as a springboard to their own sound.

Can't say female singers/bands do much for me in general but Heart would probably be second only to Stevie Nicks for me. I put them up there with any of the best pop-rock bands of their era -- Boston, Bad Co., etc. Reminds me of vans with mattresses in the back and bags of pot with seeds.

"These Dreams" and "Alone" are both '80s guilty pleasures.

Now, "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You", on the other hand, I think is corny and awful.

Yeah to all.  Annie's vocals are amazing.

I picked up one of (I think there are a few) Heart's greatest hits collections not long ago, and instead of just listening to COY, Barracuda, MM, D&B and SOFY I gave the whole thing a listen first.  There's a song from the 70s on there - I will have to check the title - that has a **lot** in common with "Over the Hills and Far Away" (without being a ripoff or anything like that).  Seems like it had to have been a knowing tribute since "Over the Hills" would have been only a few years old when Heart started churning out their 70s material.
