The debate styles of each MBTI personality:
INTP - Focuses on the logical variables.
Ex. They'll focus on the pros and cons while seeking perspectives from all parties involved for a logical resolution with the least conflict as possible.
INTJ - Searches for fallacies, while trying to make you doubt your validity.
Ex. “All right I've listened to everything you have to say, I just don't think that it's fair to put all this emotional weight on me and I already know what you're going to say but I just don't think it applies to this specific scenario. And before you say the same thing you said last time, yes I really do understand.”
ESTP - Focuses on the here and now. Impatient quick thinker. Dismissive.
Ex.
Person A: You know you can be a…
ESTP: A ****? I know
Person A: You're not even…
ESTP: Listening to you? I am, but this conversation is dragging on. Maybe I just think faster than you. Besides all you bring up is things from like 5 years ago. What does that have to do with today? Can we get this over with?
ENTP - Finds logical flaws, effortlessly debates, ultimate devil's advocate, makes you want to punch him.
Ex.
Person A: I try to be a good person, I don't see what's so hard for other people to do the same.
ENTP: What is good to you?
Person A: What do you mean? To be a half decent person.
ENTP: What does a half decent person look like?
Person A: You know what I mean! Why is this turning into an argument?
ENTP: How can you try to be something you can't even explain to me?
ESFP - dislikes conflict, will try to find a flexible solution for both parties, dislikes when people argue with variables they have no knowledge of, usually uses their enthusiasm to charm.
Ex.
*Disagreement with partner* “Can you stop beating around the bush? All the psychology crap is stressing me out. You know, Person A doesn't have to deal with this with her boyfriend! I'm gonna cool off.” *Walks away*
*Comes back*
ESFP: Okay If it will make you happy, I'll hear you out but *bursts with charming enthusiasm* but can we go out to eat afterwards?
.
ESFJ - Flips perspectives, tries to find a way for multiple truths to exist, prioritizes Harmony.
Ex.
Person A: I can't have a decent argument with you.
ESFJ: Would you have an argument with someone who's being aggressive and raising their voice?
Person A: No
ESFJ: Then why would you ever expect me to argue with you? Because that's all that ends up happening with us.
ISFP - Follows personal values, does not like conflict.
Ex.
*Stays quiet to avoid conflict*
ISFJ - Sticks to the facts, prioritizes harmony, uses past variables to solve present-day problems.
Ex.
Kid A: I don't understand why dad won't let me use the car!
ISFJ: Baby, do you remember the last three times you borrowed the cars? I do, you crashed them all.
Kid A: It will be different this time.
ISFJ: Would you ever trust someone who, out of the 3 times you've used a vehicle, has crashed it? I know it could be different this time but you can't blame Dad for being hesitant. Now I baked some cookies, do you want some?
INFP - Prioritizes personal values, will argue possibilities, tries to show another viewpoint.
Ex.
Person A: Look all I said was that feminism is kind of outdated. You have to stop getting so emotional.
INFP: First of all, I don't HAVE to do anything. Second, I understand how you can feel that way about feminism. Things are different now and while we don't have to fight for the same things as 30 years ago, I feel like we need to continue to spread awareness because maybe everyone is not caught up with modern day rights. What about the women who don't have a voice?
Person A: Oh, I guess that's true, I didn't think about it that way. Btw, I didn't mean to tell you that you had to, I suppose there's another way I could have said that.
INFJ- prioritizes harmony, tries to seek a deeper understanding of another's perspective, solutions usually cater to everyone involved.
Ex.
Person A: Feminism is so outdated. Feminists are so selfish and defensive.
INFJ: Why do you think that?
Person A: Because honestly, it blocks the issues that men go through by focusing on issues women are barely struggling with. Almost overshadowing our existence.
INFJ: I can see that. But doesn't that invalidate what women are going through? Why not spread awareness of the issues that men go through? That way you don't have to invalidate feminism and generate animosity for your opinions. You'll get more people on board with your ideals that way, don't you think?
Person A: Yeah you're right. Damn, how are you so insightful?
ISTJ - Uses facts, gets straight to the point, usually keeps things neutral.
Ex.
Partner: We barely go out anymore.
ISTJ: We barely go out because you had to get that brand new car even though the old one was working just fine. If we go out we're going to be behind on bills unless you want to pick up overtime, I don't see how we're going to afford that.
ESTJ - sticks to the facts, mainly sticks to logical arguments, mind not easily swayed.
Ex.
ESTJ: “What do your feelings have to do with this? You were late 3 times, you get fired like everyone else.”
ISTP - Data, data, and more data. Usually always right at least according to their data.
Ex.
Person A: Stupid president is making it hard for us to get work.
ISTP: Actually the data shows the unemployment rate is significantly lower than it was 10 years ago. Furthermore, the president barely has any capacity to make it more difficult for you to find a job. I'd like to add that school loans are easier to get now more than……
Person A: OKAY I get it.
ENFJ - uses charm to get his/her way(think Oprah), prioritizes harmony, usually argues using philosophy in potentials.
Ex.
ENFJ: “I'm sure someone as intelligent and knowledgeable as you can see why I'm right about this. I can only see good things coming from this, there's so many potential things we can accomplish.”
ENFP - ethical devil's advocate, prioritizes personal values, usually tries to argue with in another person's boundaries.
Ex.
Person A: I don't know why people still believe in God.
ENFP: What if God lives within us? What if when they say that we are the children of God, that it's a guide for us children to grow up. The Bible could be a guide for us to turn into future God's. I mean, look how much humanity can already do. Things which we once thought only God could do. You know what they say “With great power, comes great responsibility”.
Person A: …….. my mind is blown.
ENTJ - uses cited and sourced data, easily able to see the flow of conversation, very good at foreseeing future implications and making contingency plans.
Ex.
Boss: You're not making any sales.
ENTJ: I'm not making any sales because the customer flow has been reduced. I actually charted customers from this month and last. Which aligns to the exact day you hiked the prices up on the merchandise. Considering the demographic of our customers, I don't think they can afford our products. I know the guy above you is breathing down your neck, and that's why you're trying to make me the target. I figured you would do something like this, so I went ahead and emailed all my findings to your boss with various ideas on how we can increase sales 40%. In about a week, I'll be your boss and do your job better.
Boss: ……..
Hope you enjoyed. Please be know this is (mostly) tongue-in-cheek.
