How the heck are we posting gifs?
Zombie come for brains, emojis, and gifs.
Yes?Back in the day when people thought the board was “better,” we didn’t have a like button at all.
Are people that addicted to the dopamine hit of a red number at the top of the page?
No. We are just too lazy to actually open up the emoticon thing and look for the laugh one.Back in the day when people thought the board was “better,” we didn’t have a like button at all.

We used to just do these and if something was really funny you get progressively quoted with one more. Like reverse laugh pyramids.
Always felt like that process brought extra laughs.

If so…. Who really cares??Like if you are arguing or debating back and forth with someone and you hit the emoji, it can come across like you're laughing or mocking I guess

Today?
Posters would repeatedly use them to laugh AT another poster.
Manage the masses for the small percentage Bobby. The way of the world now.Posters would repeatedly use them to laugh AT another poster.
Punish the poster down?
Not sure I follow the logic of a handful of people people causing an issue so let’s take away a cool feature from *checks notes*

Oh, yeah, punish 12K bc one is being offensive.
handful = 5, 60K/5 = 12k if you’re scoring at home

What a weird postThere are other places on the internet if you need smiley emojis. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
This is exactly where I’m at too. I don’t care at all about the emoji itself. It’s about what the decision represents. I just can’t believe we live in a world where 40/50 year-old men need to be pandered too for slightest of possible offenses. I’ve become use to it for todays 20somethings. But man am I disappointed in my fellow Gen-Xers. I thought we were tougher then that.I don't really care about the emoji per se, but the existence of this thread implies that we have some number of middle aged men hitting the report button because they got their feelings hurt by a digital smilie face. Perhaps the micro plastics are to blame.

I assume, but do not know, that this is something from the Shark Pool. I haven't noticed anybody complaining about emojis in the FFA, but yeah it was a constant thing in the Subforum That Shall Not Be Named. What I find especially bizarre about this is that it takes place in the context of a forum that doesn't allow the discussion of what would cause 90% of this sort of "problem" in the first place
First suspect right here lolThere are other places on the internet if you need smiley emojis. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
I took it as tongue in cheek. That was usually the response when posters asked about the politics forum disappearing. What a weird postThere are other places on the internet if you need smiley emojis. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
And the problem is still here, because the problem is the people, not the emojis.A few people reported a few people. Not much of a reason.
How do we know it is us Gen-Xers complaining, it is probably the weaker millennials or Gen-Zers who take everything literally and are offended by everything. This is exactly where I’m at too. More than a few people getting reported right now for their insensitive reactions.I'm betting on the thinker to be the next to go. I don't trust that guy. I'd usually rather be straight up laughed at than have that know-it-all thinker passive aggressively questioning the validity of my comments.

i still think they were abducted by aliens take that to the bank brohans
