How much better?

This poll tells me that not enough people in the SP have seem Green play yet. Nothing more and nothing less.

I said Smith by a little because while he might be behind Green athletically, his veteran savvy is undeniable. Not saying Green isn't savvy for a rookie but he's nowhere near where Smith is. Then again, as good as Dalton has been I'd be interested to see how well Green would do in that offense with Newton trusting him as much as he trusts Smith.

Because it's about their ability on the field, not just their stats. I'm sure anyone just looking at the stat line would vote for Smith and think it's not close.

Obviously the question is asking about talent and not stats. Also, Green missed a game and a half and is on a much more conservative offense.

The questions has nothing to do with talent just who is the better WR THIS SEASON. I'm sure going forward Green is better by a mile but this season Smith is the better WR.

I like Green... Smith had a good season, and he did it with a rookie QB. But Green also had a good season, also with a rookie QB, but he himself also had a huge learning curve to overcome, learn the WR position on a pro level, and still perform like a top 15 WR. Smith had years of pro experience under his belt. The sky is the limit for AJ Green and his monstrous potential.

None of that matters. Who is the better NFL WR this season. All those factors you listed shouldn't be in your head when you make a decision.

Experience should matter but potential shouldn't.

the pole seems to suggest more people like smith by a little, and then have it green by a little. tossup if you ask me.

I dunno. I'm pretty blinded by what each guy did last week. Green did miss (basically) a game and a half due to injury.

As a Steve Smith owner with a good shot of going into the playoffs, I think I'd trade Smith for Green in a heartbeat, were it possible.

If Green missed a game and half and Smith didn't, how is Green a better NFL WR this season? If Manning comes back in week 17 and throws 5 TDs and 0 picks, will he be the best QB this season? Of course not.

I own neither WR in any league I am in - but it is clear some of you own Green and will defend this lost point with smoke and mirrors until the cows come home.

You're right. Next time I'll make my decision by throwing darts at a board instead of thinking my answer though. Moron.

All I was pointing out was if you're using stats to compare talent that Green has missed a game and a half which hurts his stats. How does missing a game make a player worse than another player? The question isn't who is the better fantasy receiver so owning either player shouldn't add bias.

Stats per game:

Smith, 5 rceptions, 91 yds, 0.42 TDs = 11.78 fantasy points.

Green, 4.55 recptions, 75.6 yds, 0.64 TDs = 11.68 fantasy points.

This doesn't reflect the half game Green missed, just the full game.
