Hernandez convicted of first-degree murder; found deceased in his cell. (1 Viewer)

It's such a big case that I think Goodell will wait until it done before he suspends him. I could be wrong but it would be very difficult to give the right suspension at this point.

Edit: Goodell waited to suspend Vick indefinitely until after his plea bargain.
I think it all boils down to what the NFL investigators learn. If they find credible evidence of serious wrong-doing in any of these cases, I could see Goodell issuing the indefinite suspension, and then waiting for the details to become clearer.

MT, if it were me I'd probably go with about 8-10 games played at this point. You can argue any number really, but I think the risk has to be reflected. And I'd say there's a lot of risk right now.

I also might look at where you think he should be drafted just from a TE rankings standpoint and then choose a number of games to move him to that spot for standard scoring.

Almost no chance he plays this year. again
Dude broke his cellphone, destroyed his home surveillance system, and had his home scrubbed. #waitingforalltheevidencetocomeout but that screams guilty.
Problem is if he did a good enough job at all of those things guilty can scream all it wants. They have circumstantial evidence and a possible obstruction charge, and I'm not sure you can get obstruction for doing things prior to being contacted (hence why you shred everything before the police arrive).
He won't have done everything he needs to do well enough IMO. Especially if this wasn't some sort of premeditated thing. They'll get these guys if they did it.

Of course there's always the possibility that he's completely innocent and wasn't involved in the killing at all. Suits up game 1, plays every game and wins a Super Bowl ring.

MT, have you updated your projections for Hernandez yet?
No, I don't have a good handle on how many games he should be expected to play. What seems like a reasonable guess to you all?
Assuming he gets bail, I'd guess 16.
Is this plays in 16 games or misses 16 games?

If you are saying plays in 16 games, you don't think he would be suspended after all that's surfaced this week?

They could give him an initial 8 game suspension and add more later. Of course, the additional suspension might night matter if he were in jail. I think it would make the league look bad if a guy up on some sort of murder or conspiracy charges were allowed to keep playing until the trial played out.
I think they'd suspend him indefinitely, as was done with Vick, and then be able to end it whenever if circumstances warrant.
My point was that it would be unlikely he would play in 16 games this season.

Anyone think Hernandez may try to flee ala Carruth?

Almost no chance he plays this year.
This is where I see it at this point. Too much stuff pointing to his involvement for Goodell to look the other way and have the NFL "shield" sullied every week by having Hernandez on the field. Too much to stomach for him. I don't see any way Hernandez plays while this process plays out.
The more I think about it, you're right. Goodell won't want a player with a murder charge playing on Sundays.

I was just trying to picture what fan reaction would be if things continue as they have in the case, but somehow Hernandez is able to play.

Then looked at the schedule. First preseason game is in Philly.

I am moving him to around 5 games being played. That puts him in bleak status, but there is a possibility he suits up for some games.

From a projections standpoint, I'd rather the "experts" project for a full 16 game season, and let me discount based on how many games I think a player will play.

Same with a guy like Gronk - project for 16, and let me decide how much he is worth if he misses 2 games, 6 games, or more.

I can't believe people on here think he has any chance of playing in the 2013 season. He'll be lucky if he's able to watch the games on TV.

I'm going to go with 21 catches for 201 yards and 1.75 touchdowns in 4 games, so you can multiply by four to get my 16-game projection for him.

What's weird is that he doesn't look like a thug.
Can't tell if you're serious or not.

Dude is covered in tats.

I never realized he was such a thug, but now it makes more sense why he fell in the draft. I'm sure teams that looked into his character realized he wasn't exactly a model citizen.
And we all know that's a sure sign of being a thug.

Jason Witten's ADP keeps sky rocketing in redraft PPR leagues now....who else would you want at the TE position in a league that favors TE production and has a short regular season like FBGPC?

This actually helps - because with a guy like Hernandez, its all or nothing. So, he is "better" in the games he actually plays than a similar 21-201 TE. Just putting the projection without saying how many games you are discounting, is not really worthwhile.

has anyone tweeted him to get his side of the story?
I think his phone broke.
He actually had tweets going out, probably auto-scheduled by his PR team.
His last 3 tweets:

@AaronHernandez 18 Jun

good morning
@AaronHernandez 16 Jun

happy father's day to all the great dads out there
@AaronHernandez 12 Jun

"either you run the day, or the day runs you." hope y'all had a good one

Graham?

Someone who is shooting up the charts for me is Olsen. Not much else out there with 2 super studs hurt or in murder investigations.

I dunno, it looks grim, but destroying evidence will only help his side even if it leads to other charges, and I think the fact that there are 2 other guys involved only helps him considering they are most likely his friends. They admit to the crime and do the hard time while Hernandez dolls out a nice payout.
Anyone in the car for incident one is now dead, paid off, or suing him. Incident two likely resulted from incident one IMO. Butterfly effect.

Fine, he's not a thug...but he is wearing a thug's uniform.

been targeting Olsen since last off-season, so underrated. Got him in all but 2 of my leagues I believe, 1 is a rebuild and the other has Graham. Seen him rated around TE 8 - 10 but I'm sure thats going to rise as the off-season goes on.

Good grief. I would venture to bet that 80% of thugs don't have tats. We just hear about the one's that do, and of course every thug on TV has one, thus guys with tats are obviously thugs. And all long hairs smoke pot. It's common knowledge.

I am thinking that the Patriots will probably suspend him before Goodell will even have a chance to. Vikings suspended Chris Cook for the better part of a season while he dealt with his legal troubles.

I'll take that bet.

And I'll take the "long haired dudes smoke pot" bet too.

You do realize he hasn't been charged with anything yet, right? So as of right now, he has a better chance of playing this year then not. Sure, he could get charged, but you have a surprised attitude based on speculation. That's a little crazier than assuming he'll be lucky to watch them on TV.

Obviously I'm holding out more hope then most, but this seems like an odd stance.

This is like Ray Lewis, but at least in the Lewis case, the murder resulted from a fight. It wasn't an execution like this.

I could see this being a case where they won't be able to prove who pulled the trigger of the 3 in the car, and what motive there was. That'll be tough to convict anyone of murdrer without being able to prove those two elements.

I could see him getting time for covering up things and just being there (accessory maybe?). If he was the shooter, his actions, while heinous, could have been the smartest thing to do.

I wouldn't expect to see him on the field this year, and if convicted for anything in relation to a murder, possibly a multiple year suspension or even a lifetime ban.
