Hey Mods, can we add a function? (1 Viewer)

If you want to set the defaults to 'Pats' and 'Patriots,' that would save most of us a lot of typing. Any chance such a function exists in this software? We can block by user name. We can search by keyword. How about block posts by keyword? Please??

Or you can just scroll down past them, but that might take you a half second longer...

I just laugh at all the complaints around here about threads! If you don't want to read something, just ignore it! But why try to curtail it for other people?

People are lazy by nature. They don't want to have to look to page 2 or 3 or 4 just to HUNT down interesting and dynamic topics. They more times than not will scroll the 1st page and either find something they like or move on and do something else. The problem with 5-10 threads all basically about the same thing being on the 1st page is that they inevitably bump other interesting and useful threads to the oblivion on the 2nd page and beeeeeyond.

Because it takes up half the front page? And it's all about the SAME topic? How many threads does one topic need? A function that allows you to block topics based on keywords would by hugely useful IMHO. And how does my blocking it curtail it for anyone else???

I think his point is that the shark pool would be much better if there were not 5 thread on Pats cheating, 3 threads on the pats running up the score, 2 threads on the Pats going 16-0 and half a dozen Colts vs Pats.

Obviously these are the things people want to talk about, but in reality its 20 threads of people repeating the same things over and over.

Only about 1 or 2 of these threads has anything to do with Fantasy football.

Just merge these Pats threads...

How many threads are there complaining about how many Patriot threads there are?

Can we block threads complaining about such matters?

I was going to say the same thing, MERGE function may work best for the mods.

If the consensus is that a large number of people don't want to see the threads, I think the far better option would be to institute a temporary subforum. Each of the Pats threads is a little different, and those who are enjoying them would prefer not to glom it all together.

thats a good point, I think a few of these topics will drift off in a day or two leaving mostly Pats running it up threads and Colts vs Pats.

If it's such a big deal just have one thread per team with subthreads about that team or it's players. If you're looking for info on a player go to his team thread. Much easier to find information. When you use search you get 50 threads that have nothing to do with what you are looking for and you have to search through them the same as if you went page by page looking for your topic. Not in all cases but in a lot of cases that's what I've found. Personally I don't mind multiple threads, I just read the ones I think might interest me.

What I don't like is opening a thread and having three posts about the topic and 40 about "use the search function". :tfp: To me that's even more of a waste of my time than multiple threads.

LHUCKS asking the mods to help him find a way to avoid reading worthless threads. That's rich.

I still think there should just be a pinned thread for all those who feel the need to constantly cry and whine about the Pats on a weekly, sometimes hourly basis. We have a weekly venting thread about fantasy results, so why not?

Would this come with a matching thread for the self-aggrandizing and delusional Pats homer?

I don't see even half the amount of threads by Pats homers. If it got to that point, then sure I would support it.

I do think it would be a good idea to have a Patriots thread where both people the want to complain about whatever they do and fans that want to defend them to be stickied. That way the conversation would be contained to one thread, moderators could just delete new threads.

By the way, I am serious about the original of my OP. I can't imagine the software doesn't have the functionality to block topics based on keywords. I may be wrong, but I'm hoping the option exists. It would be at least as useful, if not more so, than the ignore function, which is basically the same thing. Not to mention the SEARCH function, which already uses the only technology required to pull it off.

I was thinking the same thing this afternoon. That way all the Pats and Pats fans bashers can get it out of their system in one place.
