I had two paid personal days (unofficial type thing) and earned 1 single paid vacation day.So you've had no paid vacation whatsoever in being there an entire year?
What's the policy on the other holiday's? Were you paid for those?
Sounds more like the policy was put in place prior to that but people were confused so he sent out his rationale.IMO, it's impossible to impose or dictate a new office policy 2 weeks in advance of a holiday like christmas when people have to plan their vacation time far in advance. strike 1 against boss dude.
This Christmas Party is a really good thing. I really enjoyed it last year and did get a small bonus (I'm guessing it was pro-rated, but nothing was explained).Bass Pro Shops does sound pretty sweet. Maybe worth not getting the day off just for that.![]()
There was no policy. It was basically a tradition and no one knew for sure what to do, including him.Sounds more like the policy was put in place prior to that but people were confused so he sent out his rationale.
7am meeting?!?!?!![]()
And you're full time even with the flex schedule? Why would anyone work there?I had two paid personal days (unofficial type thing) and earned 1 single paid vacation day.
We are paid for all of the major holidays; New Year's Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving (2 days!11), now Christmas (which used to be 2 days). You know the standard 7 days.![]()
Euphemism?Added bonus was wife making tuna melt sammich for lunch.
I live in Springfield, MO which is their headquarters. The store here is a tourist stop with a high end restaurant and couple of banquet areas. It's actually a pretty nice place. One of my friends had his wedding rehearsal dinner in the same banquet room.Holiday party... at Bass Pro Shops... does that sound odd to anyone else?
That's like throwing a birthday party at Bloomingdales, no?
No he doesn't. If the employees get as unhappy as you sound the company will start circling the drain. This Christmas Party is a really good thing. I really enjoyed it last year and did get a small bonus (I'm guessing it was pro-rated, but nothing was explained).
My boss' father was (is) a good man, but his body is breaking down. He has Parkinson's and built the company from scratch into a multi-million dollar business with 20+ employees. His 3 sons all work here and my boss is actually the middle one, but had the best head for business and is now the majority owner. He just isn't all that great with people and doesn't do a lot of give and take. He does a great job of protecting the company's interests in every transaction, but subcontractors and sometimes employees take the short end of the stick.
Did get my direct deposit notice on the bonus already. It is at the low end of the range I was expecting which isn't very encouraging. Still no word on if I get Monday off or not. I got a cool backpack as a gift at least.Well? The suspense is killing me. When's your day off and did you get a bonus?
I think I'm the only one unhappy. Everyone was either already here under the old guard and have built up vacation so they can take off a reasonable amount, are allowed to work 4 day work weeks (2 people) or work in a different department for the other partner who is used to working in an office and allows reasonable requests without making them wait all day for an answer. No he doesn't. No, I think I will still pursue that job I found online. I'm still pretty dissatisfied and he jerked me around until the 11th hour.gianmarco said:All this for nothing?
I'm feeling pretty dissatisfied and think you jerked us around until just now. I'm pursuing another thread. No, I think I will still pursue that job I found online. I'm still pretty dissatisfied and he jerked me around until the 11th hour.
I rolled my eyes at the "oh, yeah....I meant to tell you" part. He was planning to give me the day off the whole day, but left me twisting in the wind. Just another event in a growing trend of inconsiderate behavior.![]()
You get what your want and still rolling your eyes.
It is 1 week after a year of service...or so I was told. Apparently all vacation is accrued at January 1 for the year. So I technically don't get the week until the January 1 AFTER my 1 year anniversary. I apparently earned a single day based on a prorated time on 1/1/16, but didn't know it until about August of this year.1 vacation day after a year ?
seriously what is the vacation time earning process
Or maybe just go somewhere else where these things are outlined and not being used to control you.It is 1 week after a year of service...or so I was told. Communication is very poor around here and I suck at forcing the issue. I'm going to have to get over myself and just ask for what I want and keep asking until I get an answer.
The problem starts here.Typically, the company has a Christmas party the morning of Christmas Eve and then we get Christmas day off, so now instead of 2 days we get 1.
So if you get hired on January 2 you have to wait 2 years before you accrue any vacation? It is 1 week after a year of service...or so I was told. IFYPIf I was you, I would use all my new vacation day before you quit.
Took me a while to find the difference lol. To be fair, from what I understand he now has 7 days?IFYP
That will be good for another five pages of him whining about making him out for the unaccrued days he took off.If I was you, I would use all my new vacation days before you quit.
