Homers - who will your team be cutting that can play? (1 Viewer)

As a fan of an NFL club with a complete dungheap of a roster (and who've suffered more than their share of injuries on top of said dungheap) I'm hoping management will find some hidden gold off the waiver wire during the upcoming cuts to 75 and 53. (Of course if management could recognize talent they wouldn't be in this spot in the first place, but I digress).

Anyway, who are some players that are going to be on the street that deserve to be on an NFL roster?

[*]Veterans getting Wally Pipped but have something left in the tank

[*]Young players caught in a numbers game on loaded teams (Packers WRs, Giants DLinemen, etc)

[*]Late round or UDFAs who've shown well but teams are trying to sneak on the practice squad

Let's find the bottom feeders of the league some legitimate talent...

Already happened. Kalil Bell, RB Bears.

Was really surprised by this. A very good back that will definately ba an asset for the team that picks him up.

Bell is a good one. He'll catch on as a RB3 somewhere.

I know last year teams were sniffing around GB practice squad WR Tori Gurley, who lit it up in the preseason. If he fails to make the cut again this year, I imagine he'll get snapped up for someone's active roster and probably see the field.

The mariAni injury means the titans will probably keep 5 tailbacks (return man Reynaud is an rb as well). Prior to that I thought Donaldson and Harper were both solid players and one of them was going to be cut.

The receivers the Packers have held onto have looked pedestrian to me. Gorel looks confused and is thinking too much, plus doesn't run north south with the ball on punt returns...way too much dancing.

Gurley may have had a problem because the Packers offense line depth is killing Harrell and maybe they just haven't had enough time to complete routes.

Lions DE Everette Brown has impressed here in Detroit and is possibly on the outside looking in. He was a former 2nd round pick of the Panthers and was a bust there, but has had a good camp. The Lions have some depth on the defensive line and he'll probably get squeezed. He might be an asset to someone looking to add a DE.

John Connor, a solid blocking FB for the Jets is supposedly on the roster bubble. It seems the team really likes RB Terrance Ganaway, out of Baylor, and because of his size may try to convert him to FB so that they can also take advantage of his explosiveness out of the backfield.

Packers will cut at least 2 WRs that have a shot elsewhere.

Borel though has not impressed as much lately.

Gurley or Boykin could make the team...both if somehow they moved James Jones and cut Driver.

I think they keep Gurley and 6 WRs overall and Boykin latches on elsewhere.

JS blog predicting the opposite that Boykin stays over Gurley.

Giants just cut DJ Ware. He could be of some value (NFL-wise) somewhere, even if not starter material.

Based on THIS camp only, Gurley has earned the spot IMO but I think Gurley has the size component that fits the team dynamic better (would love to keep both).

D.J Ware was reaping praise and having talks about a possible goal line role like 2 weeks ago. Must've fooled around with Coughlin's daughter (And yes, I know she's married to Chris Snee)

Bengals will end up cutting a decent WR. Probably Ryan Whalen a 2011 6th rounder out of Stanford. He's a solid player who should end up on an NFL roster, but the Bengals really like their rookies Sanu and Marvin Jones who probably locked up the last 2 roster spots.

Also, will end up cutting a TE who deserves to be on a 53. Either rookie Orson Charles or 2nd year guy Colin Cochart. Both are solid young players.

Hightower cut by the skins
It is like a game of survivor. Everyone with Royster, Helu, and Morris moves on to the next round.
Rumors of a trade for Slaton now. Could just be Hightower out and Slaton in.I'm in some deeper dynasty leagues and trying to grab pretty much any part of the Washington RB crew. On barren waiver wires, there aren't any other guys out there with the potential of being RB2s, even if its only for a couple weeks...
