Yeah, I’m not digging these age jumps and age portrayals. It’s like they plucked some of these characters from the Twilight movies. Aemond Cullen, amirite? Why does Aemond look like he’s the same age as Daemon lol?

We don’t have to wait, it was 100% confirmed on the show that he thought it was Rhaenyra. He said words that Rhaenyra asked him earlier in the show, something like you asked me if I believe and then mentioned Aegon (not his son) was right and Alicent decided not to have peace anymore.next episode, with the 5yr time jump, and Viserys having only a thorax, skull and lower jawbone, he can tell us what he meantThat's exactly what happened.I kind of wondered if Viserys, in his mind-clouded state, thought he was talking to Rhaenyra![]()
eta: Earlier in the episode, Rhaenyra asked him about it and he didn't answer. At the end he thought it was Rhaenyra again but Alicent doesn't realize that and thinks he was talking about their son.
At least, I hope I got it right.![]()
They showed her and Rhaenyra seemingly getting back to being friends. I think she took that as his dying wish since she had no knowledge of that prophecy and Aegon is their first born son. I think it switched her back on to beast mode.I didn't get the impression Alicent came away with the good faith impression that he wanted her son to be King or that Viserys was legit trying to change his heir on his deathbed. She had kind of a cynical look on her face as she walked away; I think she thought that his statement gave her some pretext for what she was going to do anyway. This was going to happen anyways IMOExtremely appropriate I guess that they have set up the entire basis for the fight that will take up the next two seasons based on Alicent thinking Viserys‘ dying words were about her son Aegon rather than King Aegon I.
Agreed, but I think the whole prophecy thing is 100% from the HBO show writers rather than from Martin's history. I don't think the Greens v Blacks story requires this prophecy plotline. For me, the Viserys death bed confusion scene felt cheap - its like they wanted to set up a romantic version where the women really want to reconcile but its ruined by a slapstick mistaken identity plot device. I think it would be better to just recognize that they have to go to war because whoever takes power will absolutely imprison or kill all the other side and their kids on day 1.

Like posted above, it was a bit cheesy to use the prophecy like that. I mean, WTF would Rhaenyra have even asked that? Viserys couldn’t have been more serious when he told her the story and that was potentially the main reason he was so adamant about her staying the heir.
That's a really good point and a solid reason for bringing the prophecy into this. She asked that because she was debating internally whether she even wanted to be Queen and was considering letting the crown go to Aegon (the elder). If the prophecy were true, perhaps she wanted to be in charge because of how Aegon is. She would rather protect her children probably -- but with the prophecy out there and seeing how her father was being treated, she will want the crown.
Oh, seven hells!!Lol it's already outdatedexactly what I needed lolThis weekly (spoiler free) article has a current family tree through each episode as it airs.
It may help keep some of them straight.

Yeah. She’s desperately trying to groom Aegon but she’d be better off pushing him out the window during his next spank fest. Aemond looks more up for the task.Alicent has zero claim to the crown. Here's a gizmodo article about the improv.Saw a quick article that said his crown wasn't supposed to fall off while he was making his way to the throne. But Daemon decided to grab it, and help him....and they both told the director that scene should stay in because of how it showed as much as they battled, there was still a brotherly affection there. I agree. Knowing that scene was somewhat ad libbed made it even a little more cool.

Oh crap, that's fantastic to realize. It's a trip to see Ewan Mitchell playing Aemond after seeing him play Osferth in Last Kingdom. Very different characters. Definitely been saving up all his sneering for this role.
I'm thinking kill the Whiteworm. The whole kill the queen bee and the nest scatters? My quess if that was the building on fire, she's smarter then that and still alive. She could've ended the series right there.
I guess the implication is the burning building was teh whorehouse Aemond went to? Haven't rewound to see.
The ending was the only good part. The Where’s Waldo search was almost silly. The white worm dying in the fire was pretty anticlimactic. I was assuming that one window with bars where a figure stood but appeared to not be able to get out was meant to confirm it. Or maybe I was seeing things.Wow what an ending.
I really hate that guy. Little Finger and Vasyrus (butchered but you know who) didn’t appear to be all knowing like this guy. Amazing with that cane that he was able to get to the gate before that guy trying to leave, especially since I don’t recall him in the throne room. I’m sure he was there but damn every single one of those not immediate lords would have to be tracked. Funny because he didn’t matter at all since Rhaenys (probably butchered) was going to escape.Cool ending but last night was mostly a mess.
The queen subjecting herself to being Poor man's Littlefinger's foot fetish model was also pretty damn weird.
Yea that's how you make a point. Seems obvious she is allied with the Hightower's now.Wow what an ending.
Huh? Seems obvious that she’s not aligned with them and she’s warning them to a degree. I also think she unfortunately got soft as she didn’t want to kill Alicent and her children like what has happened to her.Yea that's how you make a point. Seems obvious she is allied with the Hightower's now.Wow what an ending.
Was the burning building the White Worm's or where they had the kids fighting? Or both?
I don't think they got the white worm. She's smarter then that. Until you see a body. Probably just made themselves a powerful enemy. At least we know that the GOT white worms learned from her mistake of being so open about kidnapping the soon to be king. She didn’t even make it a whole season.
Possibly, but IIRC, they showed a body at a window and while that could be a red herring, it made me think that was supposed to show her death because there was no other purpose.I don't think they got the white worm. She's smarter then that. Until you see a body. Probably just made themselves a powerful enemy. At least we know that the GOT white worms learned from her mistake of being so open about kidnapping the soon to be king. Ah I see what you're saying. My view was she had the perfect opportunity to take out the competition and didn't take it. If you're not against me, you're with me kind of thing.Huh? Seems obvious that she’s not aligned with them and she’s warning them to a degree. If she was aligned with them, she just rings the bell.
I think it’s going to get brutal but the whole Alicent and Rhaenyra don’t really want each other dead part will be revisited. Don’t be surprised if the next episode puts that to bed. I think once the killing starts, it’s over.Ah I see what you're saying. My view was she had the perfect opportunity to take out the competition and didn't take it. Thanks. That whole Whiteworm plot was kinda boring.I'm thinking kill the Whiteworm. The whole kill the queen bee and the nest scatters? My quess if that was the building on fire, she's smarter then that and still alive. She could've ended the series right there.

I just rewatched this part and did not see a body burning in the window.Possibly, but IIRC, they showed a body at a window and while that could be a red herring, it made me think that was supposed to show her death because there was no other purpose.I don't think they got the white worm. I wasn't sure at first but at one point someone explained it that whoever got to him first could have his ear and influence his first decisions as king. Otto wanted him to wipe out the competition while Alicent does not want Rhaenyra hurt (or killed)I really don't get the whole "where is Aegon" thing and the race between Alicent and Otto trying to find him first. Did Aegon hear what happened and was on the run? Was he just out doing his typical wild stuff and they just wanted him back? The White Worm kidnapped him or she was hiding him per his request?
Damn you, now I have to rewatch it. FYI, it wasn’t the windows with the fire coming out, it was to the right.I just rewatched this part and did not see a body burning in the window.Possibly, but IIRC, they showed a body at a window and while that could be a red herring, it made me think that was supposed to show her death because there was no other purpose.I don't think they got the white worm. While true it seemed silly as if Otto could kidnap the king while Alicent was right next door. Just seemed really forced but thank goodness in a matter of an hour Aegon went from creating street urchins with shark teeth to believing his dad loved him and wanted him to be king.I wasn't sure at first but at one point someone explained it that whoever got to him first could have his ear and influence his first decisions as king. No that was her dragon. Aemond's dragon is the largest dragon and he took it from Daemon's wife after she passed.I don't really keep track of the different dragons and who owns who but why was that dragon beneath the castle?
Is that the same one that one of the kids stumbled on to in an earlier episode?
I *think* that was her dragon, being kept below the Keep while she was held prisoner. When one of the Lancaster Twins was trying to get her to the sea (unsure whether with good or bad intent) she made comment she needed to get to the keep (to get her dragon and escape) and the twin said that is what those who wanted her to remain held would expect. She got separated from the twin in the crowd and was herded with civilians over to the keep, and smiled when she saw it.I don't really keep track of the different dragons and who owns who but why was that dragon beneath the castle?

Yeah that was cringyThat was weird watching the gimp beat off to Alicent’s bare feet. That’s how she keeps him loyal to her - by showing him her feet while he gets off? Alrighty then.
One of the hallmarks of the GoT's series is the sexual oddities they drop in from time-to-time. Certainly cringe worthy, seemed odd that she agreed to it but hey, whatever keeps you at the top of the heap, yea? That was weird watching the gimp beat off to Alicent’s bare feet. New to this universe or is this schtick?Kinda BS that they force the masses into watch the coronation, then the dragon comes out and kills many, who did nothing wrong......Seems pretty crappy.
