I actually know the guy throwing for the Reds today. He used to date a friend of my wife.Cool dude. Fun to knock them down withand the hits keep coming....up 2 - 0 at the end of one.would be nice to see Oswalt crack up and get chased early.
I thought he meant second in the lineupHe's playing the hell out of second right now. You mean short?

If you haven't been to the playoffs since '95, it just doesn't matter. GO REDS!!Actually, the Cards are still in first place by .001.Besides, I wouldn't get too excited. Neither the Cards nor the Reds are worth a crap, so winning the NL Central this year would be like winning ugliest girl at the Miss America pageant.

Bring him up!coldchill said:Just got back from checking out the Chattanooga Lookouts and Homer Bailey. Bailey pitched 6, 2 hits, 0 runs, 8 k's, 0 walks and left with a 5-0 lead. He was consistently in the 93-94 range and hit 97 in the top of the 6th. He looked real good. Change up and curve in the high 70's low 80's, maybe a slider in the 85-88 range.
I left after 6 and just turned on the game back at the hotel. Lookouts scored 3 in the bottom of the 7th and gave up 7 in the top of the 8th. The pitcher of record when the 8th run was scored will get the win if the Lookouts hold on, right?
ETA: They held on to win and said that Bailey got the win.
Why would "back" get filtered?
He mis-spelled it, using an Eff and a you.Go Cards! Why would "back" get filtered?
Go Cards!
By "a while back", do you mean "7 days ago"?Go Cards!I said it a while back and I'll say it again, the Cards are going to win the division. Now, winning in the playoffs is a different story.
You offering to make a wager?HOW YOU LIKE FRANKLIN!? priceless, first pitch out of the park. Could only hide him in the pen for so long. REDS are FINISHED, season over. Book It.
The Cardinals are horrid. Still good enough to win the Central, but horrid nonetheless. It's only going to get worse as management refuses to shell out money for new talent and starts lining its pockets with revenue from the new stadium. Which wouldn't be horrible if the minor league system weren't devoid of talent. A starting rotation of Carpeneter, Reyes, Wainwright, Jason Johnson, and Ted Lilly should be fun next season.Go Cards!I said it a while back and I'll say it again, the Cards are going to win the division. Now, winning in the playoffs is a different story.
Phillies have a real easy schedule as well - no teams over .500 (although 7 games against Florida and 6 against Houston)The sky is not falling, people.16 of the Reds' last 22 games are against Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Florida.
Did Belisle give up all three of those? It just got worse.
Replace Ted Lilly with Jose Lima and you're pretty much correct. In all honesty, expect the Cards to sign another "project" like Sidney Pondscum and have him claimed off waivers by the desperate Yankees around mid-season.The Cardinals are horrid. i have thought since the All-Star break that as long as they kept within 6 games of the Cards going into Septemeber it that it wouldn't be hopeless.i can't see either team winning the World Series regardless of who makes the playoffs, but that is as someone once said, "why they play the games."I wanted to post this a few weeks ago, but now that it looks likely.....![]()
at the Reds not even making the playoffs.
Even as bad as the Cards pitching is, as long as they still have Carpenter, Pujols & Rolen, they will continue to win games and it will be tough for Cincy to make a run unless they just catch fire in September....but it appears they are going the wrong way right now (like the RedSox but not as bad).i have thought since the All-Star break that as long as they kept within 6 games of the Cards going into Septemeber it that it wouldn't be hopeless.i can't see either team winning the World Series regardless of who makes the playoffs, but that is as someone once said, "why they play the games."I wanted to post this a few weeks ago, but now that it looks likely.....![]()
