How 'bout them Reds! (4 Viewers)

Won the right to buy NLCS tickets today!!

Will be purchasing 6 tickets to 4 games...Going to 1 game with FIL and wife and some friends....probably going to sell the others.

Assuming they make it.

Any idea how much you'll be selling them for Derek?
I ended up not buying them...I had about $200 dollars in convenience fees that I would have had to eat if the games didnt happen. The grand total was like $2,000 and I was about to click "process", but I couldnt get over the fact that they will probably play Philly in round 1 and get smoked. And even if they do make it to the NLCS, there is no guarantee of 3 and 4 games obviously.Oh well.

:pickle:

It's been a long, long 15 years. And to think, this team is poised to be in this position for many years to come, we hope. Young and talented. Man, this feels GREAT!

Sighhh. There's no way that they play Philly in the NLDS since the wildcard team will be out of the West or East.
:lmao:Phils- best recordGiants- second best recordReds- third best recordBraves- wild cardPhils v reds in the first round
I didn't realize that the Giants were a game up on the Reds when I posted that, lol
Now 2 games behind SF and tied with SD. If they sweep MIL, they get to 91 wins, which means the best they can do is tie either SF or SD (SD needs to win 2 or 3 from SF). Do they hold a tiebreaker over either team? If not, they're locked in to playing the Phillies.ETA - nope. 3-4 vs Giants, 2-4 vs Padres

If Reds win out and Pads sweep the Giants, Reds will get 2 seed.If a combination of Padres wins and Braves losses gives San Diego the wild card, then Reds would be the third seed playing SF in round 1.Both of these scenarios are probably a long shot, though.

Shuke, what order do you put the teams that you might play in terms of wanting to play them?As a Braves fan I would rank them Padres, Reds, Giants, Phils (can obviously only play them in the NLCS).San Fran's pitching has just been too hot and I'm not sure any of the other teams can beat the Phillies.

Reds and Padres both have 88 wins now, right? If they both sweep, they'll both have 91. Padres win the west, and have a 4-2 record against the Reds. Do I have something wrong here, or is there a different tiebreaker I'm not aware of that gives the Reds the 2 seed?Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it happen, just not sure how it can.

OK, I bought tickets to the NLCS...3rd home game.

Hopefully its game 6 and a chance to go to the World Series!!!
you're a reds fan and a braves fan?
I was wondering this too but it could be that he's hoping Atlanta playes the Reds in the NLCS.
I am a Braves fan fo sho.

But I couldnt pass up the opportunity to by NLCS tickets for a few reasons...

1) Braves could be playing here...

2) Reds could be going to the WS (I dont care who it is...that is special)

3) I could sell the tickets for A LOT

My Dad, FIL, and Brother are huge reds fans....and I am taking them if I go to the game. Along with my wife and my brother's GF. Just really an opportunity buy. Either to sell or do something nice for my family.

  :suds:

Congrats, Reds & Fans, for a highly successful season! Yes, the ending sucked, but you know what? They did more this season than they have in the last 15 and, imo, they are/were a year ahead of schedule. What a fantastic season and I can't wait for next year!

I cannot let failure in the playoffs sour me on the team making it to the playoffs. I know some will take that as a "just glad to be there" attitude, but really it is great to see playoff games with my team legitimately being there. This team won 91 games.

In this series, the Phillies simply outpitched us. Our pitching held up very well to their offense, but no offense is a match for dealing pitchers. We saw it Wednesday, we saw it tonight. Of course, we should only be down 2-1, but it is what it is.

Regardless, this was a great season of Reds baseball. The team is built to be a few shrewd moves away from rising to challenge the team that just handed them their hat in three games. That is the next goal. We rose to a level to be the best in the Central. Now we need to make moves to rise to the level of the Phillies.

Take a few weeks off, enjoy the rest of the playoffs, then get busy Walt.

I will tell you what - in all seriousness, with Walt Jocketty you can count on continued success. Dude can flat out make things happen and I think his departure hurt the cardinals way more than the front office is willing to admit.

What would it take for the Reds to get Jose Reyes?

Does anyone keep up with contracts and what Reyes is making now?

I don't know if Reyes is a true lead off guy as much as he would be a really perfect #2 guy but he would most certainly solidify the middle of the infield.

I know there is no chance of this happening, but lets say you get to play the dual role of Mets GM and Reds GM....what would it take to get this deal done?

Jay Bruce signs a 6yr/$51M deal with a club option for a 7th yr at $12M. Not a bad deal at all for the Reds IMO. It is obvious that locking him up while he's still affordable was a priority this offseason.

They will eventually have to make a decision on Votto, but the ship has sailed on getting him to sign a similar deal with his MVP season. They might as well ride out the arbitration years now and decide whether or not to offer huge money then.

I really like the plan and more importantly the execution of how they are building this team to have a pretty big window of winning.

Bruce had Super Two status and was eligible for arbitration. I believe the Reds are buying his first three free agent years at what should be a discount if Bruce develops. Bruce gets his fortune if he regresses or gets hurt. I think it's a good risk for both side, demonstrates a commitment to homegrown talent and eliminates a distraction for the next few off-seasons.

Magic Number: 161 (Brewers and Cards are the only other teams that count right?) :excited:

NL MVP Race Leader: Ramon Hernandez - Leads HR, RBI and AVG for players with more than 1 AB.

This is a fun team to watch. If pitching holds up, I don't see anybody in the Central finishing within 7 games.

So Chapman has only pitched one inning so far? Are they saving him for down the stretch? They haven't needed him?any insight?
He's pitched twice, 1 inning each. I think the plan is to use him for at least 1 inning in close games, but limit back to back days. When you try to break it down though, that can be hard.Game 1- Reds were down 3 runs or more pretty much the whole way (bot 9 comeback)OFF DAYGame 2- Wood goes 7. Masset and Cordero pitch an inning each.Game 3- Blowout, but Chapman still hasn't pitched so he comes in late. OFF DAYGame 4- Not close.Game 5- Not close, but Chapman hasn't pitched so he comes in late.Game 6- Close, but day game after he just pitched.Bottom line is it seems like Dusty has trusted Masset and Cordero (not surprisingly) more and there haven't been many "close" innings to go around. I think he would've pitched in Game 6 if he hadn't pitched the night before.
