How 'bout them Reds! (2 Viewers)

Can we finally call an end to the Aaron Harang career in Cincinnati? I love the guy...and I hate to rag on him...and there isn't a guy on the team that I was pulling for more to succeed this early in the seaon...but COME ON!!!!
Just another arm that Dusty has destroyed

Not sure when Volquez was supposed to be back, but it looks as though now, it will be at least 50 games from now... link.
He wasn't supposed to be back til July at the earliest. Other than a lighter pocket book, that changes nothing as far as his timetable goes. Huge and bad loophole imo.

Big game last night for Johnny Cueto (one hit shutout, and no walks ;) ) and Chris Heisey (3-4 and his first HR).

It truly boggles my mind how little (read: no) press Mike Leake is getting. The kid never pitched a single pitch in the minor leagues and has started out 3-0 w/ a 3.10 ERA. You bet if he played for the Yankees they'd lead in w/ him every single SC. :P

Followed up by a 90-pitch CG shutout by Bailey.I heard 73 of the pitches were strikes and 78 of the pitches were fastballs. Sheesh. Dominating series for the pitching, but these Pirates are headed for a looooong season.Only 1.5 out

Leake >>> Strasburg

Leake doesn't have the "wow" stuff that most other phenoms have, but the kid knows how to pitch.

Only a half game out. Big Props to the Astros for Sweeping the Cards. And now a big series (for May) between a Sliding Cards and the Surging Reds.

First Place!!!!! Not sure if it has been mentioned, but how much more fun is it to watch a team that actually plays defense?

Harang's K/W is 41/10. I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with his arm. I'd sound like a complete idiot if I did.

Felix Perez, the Cuban outfielder the Reds signed, is 25 years old. That’s why the Reds were able to sign him for $550,000 and not the $3.5 million the Yankees offered in 2009 when they thought was 20.“He’s got all five tools,” vice-president of scouting, player development and international operation Bill Bavasi said. “Nothing stands out. But he’s a baseball rat. He loves to play. He’ll do anything you ask.”Perez will be go to Arizona as soon as he gets his visa. The Reds will evaluate him there.“He may end up at Dayton or Lynchburg,” Bavasi said. “But because of his age, he needs to get to Double-A quickly.”
Reds keep getting redder.

Pathetic... How many runs do we have to score to overcome Dusty? It is like he tries to see how many of his fringe players he can get to decide the game each night.

And why is Paul Janish on the roster if he never gets in for obvious defensive replacement situations? Instead we just watch Cabrera and Cairo make up the worst left side of an infield the league has ever seen.

Thank God the schedule is so easy the next few weeks that the talent difference alone should keep us from imploding off of this loss.

BTW I rewrote this post like 15 times to avoid being the 1st person ever banned from the baseball forum.

I will be at the game on Saturday. Had to get tickets at Stub Hub, Reds only had $200 tickets available. My daughter will be playing a viloin concert and will play the star spangled banner.

Going also. But I think you're doing it wrong. How many tickets are you getting? I just checked for 4 and there are seats available in the mezzanine section.

I was just getting two. I probably was doing it wrong.

How'd she do? Looks like you got to see an absolute beat down by the Reds. Good to see Bruce getting in on the action with 2HR too. These Reds probably aren't good enough to stay atop the division the whole year, but they are definitely better than Reds teams of the recent past. They've got the most wins in the NL and best winning % in the NL.

At 30-20, I know that it is still very early. There seems to be a different feeling about this team than even the teams a couple/few years ago. I like the energy and I like the way they are playing. The pitching has been great lately, and even Harangatan has been starting to come around now that his sinker is starting to work. I like this teams chances to see the post season. The have pitching depth in the minors, and Edinson Volquez should be back by August. I would put this team against anybody right now.

she did great. She's a natural performer. This was probably one of the best games I've been to in a long. The kids actually paid attention to the entire game.

Reds win slug fest tonight over Cards. Back in 1st by a game. Big game tomorrow with a chance to leave St Louis with a 2 game lead. Keep it up guys! <_<

I am going to see the Reds-Nats game this weekend, probably sunday. I was hoping to catch Leak pitch but with taking a 4 y/o a 7 PM start is a little late considering we are 75 miles away.

GO REDS!!!!!!!!!

Great having Joey Votto Back. Scott Rolen is best trade ever!
I just missed out on Rolen in my 16 team league, he is sticking it to the Cards right now
I love and miss Rolen. He was just always hurt his last few years in St. Louis. Hope he stays healthy for you guys, but, if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Nats are gonna be back in town for a 4 game set in mid-July. As of right now it looks like Strasburg would pitch game 2 or 3 of the series. I'm just about certain I'll be at that game - if anyone else is gonna be there, let me know and we'll grab a beer.
