Dusty Baker.
Why would there be a need to move BP to 3B? I'd say Cozart going to 3B would be way more likely seeing that he's an above average fielder with good arm strength. This wouldn't need to happen until 2014 when Hamilton is ready, but seems like he's going to play some OF.Does Phillips have the arm strength/accuracy to be able to move to 3B in the latter years of his contract?6/72.5M extensionWay more than I would've liked to pay, but as a fan I'm glad he'll be around.Ya, they've made it clear the last few days they still want to extend him and BP is interested in staying if he can get paid here. Fay came out with a report that he would be extended within this week. I do think it's starting to be a distraction so if they're going to do it, it'll be soon. I still have no idea how close they are on years, but normally if both sides want to make a deal it eventually happens.Word around Central Ohio is that the Reds are close to locking up BP. What are you Cincinnati guys hearing?Ya, I think the Bray thing is only an excuse. It sounds a little weird to say "we're waiting on someone to get hurt, then we're starting him". I think it makes sense because you buy time and at the same time limit his innings. Whether it is that easy to just switch from reliever to starter mid-season, I guess we'll probably find out.Very pumped about the Votto extension. Whatever you want to say about the tail end, having him around these next 5 years along with the rest of the core that is signed is going to be a pretty nice window to win. I have no idea what it means for BP, but the priorities are right IMO. Add pitching, lock up Bruce/Votto, then worry about the rest.

Why is a gimpy Phillips getting an 8th inning AB in a 8-1 ballgame?Hate is a strong word, but I hate Dusty Baker.
You haven't seen the new Fox Sports Ohio Girls?Well, at least only having to watch the first inning of each game keeps me from being subjected to too many of the awful local commercials on Fox Sports Ohio.
Nope. I heard Mo Egger talking about them a couple days ago, but I thought he was being facetious. Worth checking out? Can any of them hit left-handed pitching or bat lead off?I saw it go from 2-0 to 5-0, then I watched some stuff of my new HOPPA! and checked back in just in time for a two run triple. I just flipped back over to see it only got worse from there. You haven't seen the new Fox Sports Ohio Girls?Well, at least only having to watch the first inning of each game keeps me from being subjected to too many of the awful local commercials on Fox Sports Ohio.
Not worried yet. Can't argue up to this point though.Seems like 2011.
I know it's still early, just frustrating. Not worried yet. Can't argue up to this point though.Seems like 2011.
Is Dusty onto something getting him fastballs in front of Votto?welcome to 2012 drew stubbs
TV said he was like 1 for 26 lifetime versus the starter so Dusty moved him down in order for Ludwick to ring up some LOB's.Why is Bruce batting 7th???????![]()

I haven't given up on Leake, but because of his short outing yesterday, Dusty had to burn all the mop-up relievers, leaving Chapman and Ondrusek both to pitch in a 6-0 game today. They have an off day Monday, but still, that stuff can't happen all season long.I really hope Masset can come back strong, that may be enough to give Aroldis his shot at the rotation.People I'd rather see in the rotation, instead of Mike Leake:1. Aroldis Chapman2. Travis Wood3. Any JV high school left hander in the nation4. Jenny Finch5. Eddie Feigner (dead or alive)
Dusty put the left handed Willie Harris in the 2 hole last week in front of Votto.'Rustoleum said:Stubbs has mastered turning a 3-0 count into a K.Rough start tonight. Bailey letting up with two outs and getting into trouble in both innings so far.Hopefully they can turn this one around.I understand Dusty not wanting to stack the lefties, but when most of your right-handed bats just aren't up to it, is it really helping? It's like there is some big electromagnet keeping him from putting two lefties next to each other in the lineup.I'd love to see 20 games of CozartPhillipsVottoBruceRolen/FrazierHeiseyStubbsHanigan Or really almost any combo of the 6-8 guys.
He does refuse to bat Bruce 4th though.Dusty is dumb.I'm ok with pulling him, even after the ninth ended up being rather eventful. If he is on an inning target for the year and they still see him starting at some point, why stretch him out another inning when you have a two run lead, and both your closer (for now, anyway)and a hot Ondrusek available?Chapman seems in tune with being told to basically go out there, own the 8th inning, then kick back and let everybody else do their jobs.Until the Reds are confident the fatigue issue he ran into his rookie year when they started jumping up his workload is past, I say don't mess with something that is flat out working for you.Why not leave chapman in for the ninth... Throwing gas.
Why move Stubbs to the 7 spot? Stubbs is hitting .344 in the 2 spot. I actually like the lineup how it is now. BP looks like he's coming along now too.Stubbs has mastered turning a 3-0 count into a K.Rough start tonight. I confess I don't look much at production from each particular spot in the order. I read the box scores and watch most of the games, but other than "wow...so and so had a good game, that's about the extent of any number crunching. I just think Stubbs still strikes out too much and it just seems he's feast or famine. Maybe an in-depth statistical analysis won't bear this out, but I think moving him down like I proposed gives you better production at the top, and a chance for the bottom half to do some damage or at least put some runners on for the top half to do push some one or two out runs across.Of course, with Leake pitching and a decent lefty on the mound, none of this matters at all. Oof. Stubbs was just the 6th consecutive strikeout. Why move Stubbs to the 7 spot? Stubbs is hitting .344 in the 2 spot. I actually like the lineup how it is now. Nothing. Not much at AAA, and I don't know if they'll shell out a bunch to take on any contracts via trade.'GreatLakesMike said:You guys in Cincy, what are you hearing about possible moves? I know it's early, but this is frustrating and well, I'm frankly curious to know what the plan is since they locked up Joey and Brandon. I'm sure this is not what they had in mind when they shelled out all those millions. Not blaming Joey and Brandon, but you know how things go.
He's kept a struggling rookie in the leadoff spot. How is that not patient?Dusty has never been known to be patient with younger players.
He also plugged Stubbs, Bruce, etc straight in the lineup and stuck with Homer/Leake through their growing pains. Not to mention the leaps Cueto has made under him. I'm not saying this to jump on GLMike, it's a common perception about Dusty that I just don't agree with.It doesn't matter, they're not going to go "young" at any point in 2012.He's kept a struggling rookie in the leadoff spot. Speaking of which.....is he going to right the ship??He's kept a struggling rookie in the leadoff spot. How is that not patient?Dusty has never been known to be patient with younger players.
I'd at least like to see him get bumped to AA. He's around 1300 PA's between Rk, A, & A+. He's killing A+ pitching now, get him up to Pensacola at least.ETA: Andy ####### Pettitte?? Seriously?call up Hamilton straight from A ball or wherever he is.
It's a miracle if you even put the ball in play against him.
