How 'bout them Reds! (1 Viewer)

Ya  something like that. I was worried it would be even less if they sandbagged the young pitchers in favor of retreads. I think we might beat that with this crew, but I think it's a fair number for a team starting Scott Feldman on opening day.

Well, so much for wire-to-wire. At least we went 8 pitches before allowing a homer.

Hope Peraza and Hamilton can get clicking with Votto behind them. Still going to lose 90 games because of pitching probably, but at least that could be fun to watch.

Adam Duvall was supposed to be a transitional player. A decent option to hold down the fort in a non-embarrassing way until Winker or someone else inevitably took his job. Even with his power last year, we could poke holes in his OBP game.

As he has started off again with very good defense and our hottest hitter to start the season (on the heels of a very good '16) what do we think guys?  Is he proving that he's actually a big part of the plan now or do you still view him the same way?

I would like to see him improve the plate discipline. If he does that I think he can be a ++ player

Price early leader for manager of the year
It was pretty shrewd.  Been a big critic of his, but that is a good start to winning me over.

As an aside, LeBlanc kinda looks like Nuke Laloosh with that stupid look on his face before he pitches.

Winker coming up today. Doesn't bother me at all, but very surprised at how they're rushing guys up here. Clearly a new FO regime with a different plan.

Schebler didn't get much of a chance, but given how the 3 OFs are playing I have to believe he's mostly a bench guy now.  Winker isn't some super prospect that can't ever sit, but a time share in right would be odd with 2 LH hitters.

I suspect that was throwing him a bone vs a lefty before being sent down Sunday.

I don't think they'll move Duvall off left but I haven't heard anyone that matters say that.

It probably keeps the extra outfielder up here 4 more days. Romano up and Finnegan to DL most likely. It's getting rough though for who can make the start Friday. Maybe bring up a reliever and give Peralta or Reed a spot start.  It's the Cubs though, tough draw.

Nice win last night against a team that is playing well, and with Arroyo on the mound, even nicer.  Hope to see him "succeed", but at this point, I am not sure what success really is for him.

Duvall breaks a slump and Hamilton/Peraza co-leaders in stolen bases.  Can Joey get hot earlier than June?  That'd be cool.

Amir on the mound tonight.  I'm calling perfect game, much to Tom Browning's disappointment.

Fun series to watch over the weekend as a Reds fan.  My god, if Billy could do what he has done this homestand over the course of a whole season, they have a serious advantage over almost any competition.  When he is on fire like that, he's the most exciting person in baseball to watch.  WOW!!

Love seeing the contributions from some of the bench guys over the weekend also.  Nice to get them some ABs and have them keep the rust off.

Only three guys from the bullpen had to pitch in the weekend series, if I'm not mistaken.  MUCH needed rest.  Great job, starters.

My daughter's favorite player is Cozart.  I think he might be the first time I get upset when a player gets traded if that happens.  I really believe they will not return value for him.

Yankess one of the best teams in baseball.  It will be an interesting couple nights.  Hoping they are a little lethargic after their 18 inning night game against the Cubs, ala the 1999 Reds for their one game playoff.  Difference was Reds lost the game Sunday night and the Yankees won last night.  Different energy.  Oh, and the Reds got screwed with a day game Monday.  Still a little bitter about that one.  GO REDS!!

Cozart has a much better chance of finishing this season a Red than at any point the last 6 months.
I agree with you, and if they are legitimately in contention come the all-star break, there is no way he is moved.

I don't know if anyone truly believes they are true contenders this season.  The thing I see about this team is they are pretty much beating up on the below average teams, and struggling against good and mediocre teams.  11 of their 17 wins have come against bad teams (PIT, PHI, SF)  5 more wins (and 10 of their losses) have been spread out over teams that are hovering around .500 (STL, CHI, MIL)  and only one win against a very good team (BAL)

I am enjoying the games, but I don't think for a minute that this team can maintain this throughout the season.  I hope I am wrong, and I am very excited for the future, but to get back to the original point, I don't think they see Cozart as part of the team in 2018 and beyond.  Maybe he changes their mind, but I won't hold my breath.

We joke a lot about hot starts but I think this team is legit. Now I'm not saying I think they win the division, or even the wild card, but I think they hang around and compete in September. Some decent arms in the rotation, a good bullpen and a manager who knows how to use it, and an exciting lineup with one of the greatest bats of this generation. I'm buying.

He's just dripping with Gatorade in the post game interview  :lmao:
When Mesaraco hit the walk-off a few days back they dumped the bucket of bubblegum on him after they ran out of ice and Gatorade.

Would love to see Zack hold onto this All Star voting lead at SS.  I'll be even happier if he makes the All Star starting line up as a Red.

This Castillo kid may be fun to watch for a while.  That changeup is gorgeous - same arm speed as the fastball but ~15mph slower.

Elk and Elk probably still uses things like dictaphones and carbon paper, right?  They have to have zero social media presence or, surely, surely, somebody would tell that guy his rug is totally ridiculous and maybe putting it all over TV is a bad idea?

Blake "The Attorney" Maislin's billboards are downright masterpieces compared to the Elk Bros.
