How do we get old threads unarchived? (1 Viewer)

I don't mean all of them.  But certain ones, by petition and majority approval by a small panel of users or something. 

What is the purpose of this anyway?

Are archived threads safe from future deletion? Some of our old year end music poll threads are archived and probably don't need to be replied to ever again, but I don't want to lose them completely if possible.

That's the one!  Holy crap.  I just went back and read it; brought back some memories.  That trip was a wild experience.  

I remember that my driver told me (once we were alone in his car and he was sure no one could hear him), "Hey.  When you get back to America, tell Bush that we actually don't like Khaddaffi."  And I remember thinking, "Who does this guy think I am?  That I have the ear of the President of the United States.  But then a couple years later, NATO goes in and topples him.  I always imagine that in some small village outside of Tripoli,  there's a statue of me with a plaque that says "The Man Who Convinced America To Topple Khadaffi".

I think Google is the best way to find stuff. There was also a purge at some point but most of the huge threads were archived during a major board upgrade.
