So the season is going to be 60 games, and people care about it? If your team wins whatever it is (the mini-Series?), will it mean anything? What's the asterisk limit on a "championship" like that?

Clearly if the team you're rooting for wins, there's no asterisk.  Meanwhile if a team you dislike wins, asterisk that thing up.

1981 Dodgers team doesn't seem to be treated as an inferior champion, which is about as close to a comparison as I can think of from memory.
Redskins fans are perfectly happy with 2 of their 3 Super Bowl title seasons being tainted.

This is so true.  Everyone starts with the same set of rules and just like any other season of any other sport, some teams will have to find a way to deal with adversity that others don't face.  its the nature of sports.  So be it.  Just enjoy that baseball is being played and root for your team.

The only competitive advantage that might happen is if some teams are allowed to have fans, and others are not, but that is a city, county, state issue for each individual team.  I, for one, think the players would be happy to have fans in the stands even if they are the road team.  I just think they like the additional energy.  It is going to be eerie to be in the ballpark when the game is being played without any fans.
I really hope the Reds let like 50 fans in, but they have to WOOOO the entire time.

Yup.

Fingers crossed but the next 7 months or so has potential to be the greatest period in sports history.

Baseball every day, playoff baseball, NBA every day, NBA playoffs, US Open, The Masters, The Ryder Cup, NFL, College football, I’ll even throw MLS in here.

It’s going to be redonkulous.

The only way I can support this is if they allow part of my new responsibilities to be to walk around and punch these people square in the face for annoying the crap out of everbody.

I mean I hate to be Debbie Downer but just don't see how all these events are happening.  Probably gonna get some golf, maybe tennis and most of the rest will be scrapped. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah that could happen for sure.

College football in particular seems pretty hard to justify if there are some outbreaks.

I miss baseball
I felt this way in April and May when I was at home bored out of my mind.

By now I'm at the point where I'm not sure I care and knowing I won't be able to attend kind of kills the vibe for me.

I have to say, I am kind of excited about being able to watch the White Sox play an intrasquad game and have it announced by Jason Bennetti (normal play by play announcer) and Chuck Garfien (on-field reporter).

It's fun, relaxed and a bit strange with no fans or no real production behind it.

Sitting in my home office with it on in the background and it's nice...

"The way the whole Covid disease is spiking, I will be shocked if MLB actually manages to get a season in. "

"I will be shocked if they don't get a season in."

I'll be shocked if one of you isn't right.

I would be shocked if they were both right......or both wrong.  I won't be shocked if it is one and one.....

They'll get it in if it's a slow drip of bad things happening. A few players catch it here and there, a few players gradually drop out over the span of a few months. If four teams get slammed with COVID in a week and can barely field a team then they may have no choice but to shut it down.

I'm still dreading hearing a story of a player getting it followed by a family member getting it and being severely affected or even dying. All it takes is one really upsetting story for player/public sentiment to change course quickly.

Feel like if my team wins it’ll be legit as hell but if it’s anyone else I’ll laugh at them for celebrating it.

I'm not a baseball guy. Watched it a little bit as a kid but other than the Nationals last year, I probably haven't watched a total of nine innings in the past 20 years.

With that said I am ALL IN this season if it happens. A 60 game season??? Are you kidding me? Sign me the #*$% up.

Yeah I remember you couldn't wait until the Red Sox penalties were announced too.
You act like it’s my fault that Rob Manfraud has been desperately trying to cover up the whole story. Its actually the bigger story .

If there is a God it’ll all come out and he will be forced to resign.

Yep, its everybody else's fault.

this is gonna be so half arsed.  taxi squads, masks, no fans, extra inning junk.  i know they need the money, but 60 seems low and i hate that the mets get the yanks 6 times.  why not a simple 40 in division and matching geo division 4 each for 20.  of course i’ll likely watch.  better than the 2010 x games and a golf tournament rerun.

Meh, that makes too much sense

It's baseball after all, we know they are going to eff this up

Not even close to excited about baseball at this point.   Don't see that changing until next season when hopefully we have a somewhat normal season.

These deals ALWAYS work out well.  ;)
Eh - what do the Dogers care? They've plenty of money. And they will get 8 good to great years and pay over 12 years to get them. Cost of doing business with great players.

ETA: Dodgers have won 7 division titles in a row and have no World Series rings. He helps bring one and who cares? Flags fly forever.
