How I Met Your Mother (1 Viewer)

The girl Ted bumped into at the bar -- THAT's his future wife. Gotta be her.
The married asian girl?
No. After Ted finds out that the Asian girl is married, he goes back to the bar to get another drink. On his way, he briefly bumps into a different girl (tall brunette) and they both say something like "Sorry" and then move along. It's a half second of footage. But why else would they put that scene in the show if the girl wasn't his future wife*?!?*or "mother of at least 2 of Ted's kids", cuz I suppose they might have never gotten married.

Interesting theory. Another interesting theory is how much I would like to bang Vanessa Minnillo.

yeah, that was my thought, too.early in the show ted said tonight was the night he met the kids' mother. i thought that was a signal that the end was near. but in the latter half, he talked about how he didn't meet her again for another couple of years. so maybe cbs is planning on keeping this show around.

He didn't say he met her years later. He said he didn't find out she was at the party until years later (just rewound to confirm). And, considering he now has her Yellow Umbrella, I'm figuring he's actually going to meet her sooner rather than later. Probably the season finale will be the official meeting for the first time (although the brush by will actually be their first meeting, they just don't know it).

I noticed and thought the same thing.

I was both pleasantly surprised and upset that they are introducing the mother this season. I just hope they don't wrap up everything this year. That would be a "Major Buzzkill."

I think we were all supposed to think that, it was just to tease us. :bs:Mostly because I didn't recognize the girl and figured once the character is introduced, they may have a somewhat established actor to play the part. Not like Alysson Hannigan known, but, someone the producers can rely on to be able to act week in and week out.

One thing we can say for certainty is that neither Robyn nor Lily end up being "the mother".

The producers have stated that we WILL see the mother onscreen before she's officially introduced.

::salute:: Major BuzzkillI am glad its back. Decent ep last night. I have a feeling that the girl he bumped into wasnt the mother. Just a fun trick they like to do to make you think and come back for more.Barney was Legen (wait for it) Dary in his green suit.

"Why don't you lay down so we can play some pool"

Did the actor who played Marshall do anything during the writer's strike other than chase triple quarter-pounders with jumbo Oreo shakes? Dude looked 25 pounds heavier than 3 moths ago.

Great show, glad it's back.

Britney is not the highlight of this show... Sarah Chalke is... YUM!!!! Bring back SCRUBS!!!!
You will see more of Sarah Chalke because Ted has her umbrella
She did throw in the St. Pattys comment.
Yeah, I know, late to the party and all but if Sarah Chalke is on the show full time this show is must see TV. They are hardly giving Robin any screen time lately.
That is the truthI just read that they may be upping Scrubs for one more season on ABC

:)Although, I just read that Chalke's part was originally written for Alicia Silverstone (who backed out because shs didn't want to compete for screen time with Britney). So maybe Silverstone is supposed to be the mother? Chalke is not scheduled to make any more appearances on the show. :)

Good episode tonight, Sarah Chalke looked better in this show than she does on Scrubs. Britney seemed average, I wasn't too impressed from her apperance.

Barney completely owned Ted...made him grow a mustache, which looked terrible by the way.

I think the show is throwing a lot of curveballs to get people thinking on different people Ted meets as a possible wife. It may lead one way and then it may lead another way...who knows.

I wouldn't like Chalke on this show. I love her on Scrubs...but just don't want her on this one.

Britney is still a skag.

I just don't understand the whole britney thing. I felt like that show was targeting an audience like me the whole time it's been on. I get all of the historical jokes. It was made for people in their early 30's.

So why add Britney? That throws a whole wrench in their target audience as i suspect most people that watch the show aren't huge britney fans. She's a terrible actress and she was terrible last night.

I was dissapointed with that decision. I suppose it could have been made by the network and not by the show...

I think you answered your own question. They've got you already. They are trying to add a younger audience to what they already have. I'm not sure anyone is going to stop watching, becuase they added Britney.

I agree with this. I don't think Britney was particularly good in this episode, but she wasn't horrible, either. I would have enjoyed the episode more with a no-name actress playing the receptionist instead of Britney - but I can't blame the producers from taking advantage of this opportunity.

Actually, I would bet someone on the show had the connection with Britney instead of CBS. I don't see HIMYM having a high enough profile for CBS to want a stunt casting like Britney to be on it over some other choices.Overall though, she was better than I expected, with the trainwreck stories of her the past year. Of course she was pathetic acting-wise, but she wasn't cast for her acting ability. If she was added as a regular, then it would suck, but, as a one-off, it was just fine. And if it adds to the ratings for a show that is still on the bubble for renewal, I'm all for it.

Maybe the network suggested it as an attempt to boost the ratings?I agree though, anything that helps keep it on is good. I mean the stupid story is on the front page of pretty much every newspaper (online) that i read this morning...

How is the nerd show now in the 8 o'clock slot and HIMYM 8:30????

That nerd show is freaking terrible. Every joke is a rehash and the characters are annoying. Meanwhile, HIMYM is freaking hysterical.

Makes no sense.

I'm not sure who made the decision to cast Britney for the episode, but I can tell you that the guy that plays Marshall didn't seem too happy about it. I heard a sound bite on the local radio station last week from an interview that he had done and and he made a sort of sarcastic remark about how it was so great working with her and then laughed sarcastically. I thought that she really detracted from the show. They kept hyping it up as having Britney on and it was very clearly Britney Spears playing a part poorly on a tv show. It completely detracted from the episode for me.

Big time agree! That show is one of the worst shows on tv

I don't think she was acting..... I think she played herself for the most part :excited: Still enjoyed the episode though.....

I can think of 2 possible explanations:1. new executives trying to promote their own show, with no interest in promoting a show that was created by the old regime2. reverse of the old "build an audience in the 8:30 timeslot and then move it to a new night" strategy. Maybe they're going to switch HIMYM to a new night, with the hope that the nerd show can hold down the fort on Monday nights? Bad idea IMO.

As I said, if this stunt help get HIMYM picked up, then I was all for it. And initially it looks like it has helped...

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A guest appearance by Britney Spears gave the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" its highest viewership of the season on Monday, and assures the modest performer will be renewed for a fourth season in the fall.

"Mother" pulled in about 10.6 million viewers, a huge spike from its season-to-date average of 7.8 million, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Critics were relatively impressed. "Spears proved she can act every bit as well as she can sing," wrote the New York Daily News. "Brit looked slim, (OK she was behind a desk), trim and gorgeous," wrote the New York Post.

"Mother" was the fourth-highest-rated show of the evening, and CBS won the night (averaging 12.5 million viewers), even as the rest of its comedy lineup dropped slightly from last week's record-setting return to original episodes.

Spears, whose professional achievements have been engulfed by an avalanche of marital, health and legal woes in recent years, played a dermatology office secretary named Abby. She said in a statement issued two weeks ago, while shooting her scenes, that she was having "a blast."

"How I Met Your Mother," narrated through flashbacks from the future, stars Josh Radnor as a man who is joined in his quest for true love by his lecherous pal, played by Neil Patrick Harris.

I don't like this show, but I watched some of it to see how Britney would do. So I guess the guest star did it's job. First it gets demoted to the worst time slot in prime time then it resorts to guest stars to try to draw viewers. That 2 minute date thing was brutal. What a poopy show. :(

I guess CBS and it's viewers (myself included) disagree with you. The Big Bang Theory is 1,000x better than HIMYM, hence it's promotion to the 2nd best sitcom timeslot, while HIMYM gets bumped to the loser slot. This show trails only Family Guy as worst over-rated junk on TV.

Now I have to re-watch the episode from December, which took place in between the first session and the Plan 9 non-date to see how they line up. The threading of stories and little bits thrown in to tie everything together really interests me.
