how long to keep Chester Taylor as a backup plan for AP? (1 Viewer)

Wondering what the consensus is about keeping Chester Taylor as a handcuff to AP? The jury is still out as to if AP can handle the bulk of the load for a full season. As a team with an extremely short bench (14 roster spots, start 8), just wondering what teams are doing in this situation, should one see how this weekend plays out before dropping Taylor, risk dropping him altogether, given AP's unknown long-term physical ability, or drop him anyway and go for some other talent that may still be available(Bowe, R. White etc)....

I'm in the same boat. Right now I'm going to continue sitting on Taylor, mostly because there are not backs on the waiver wire worth dropping him for...

One of those guys will get injured, if not AP will take a small hit on his numbers. Carries will be 55% for Taylor and 45 to AP. AP will get a bit more yardage and TDs even with the fewer touches against Taylor. It's just an odds game who will get hurt.

Childress needs to be fired if he doesn't give Peterson the heavier workload.

BTW - I'm holding onto CT in a league with shallow bench spots. It's too early in the year to cut him loose and risk AP getting hurt. Around week 10 or 11 or so, it would be a lot more safe to cut Taylor loose.

Chester is actually the starter, AP is the backup.

Vikings rookie Peterson welcomes the heavy work load in backfield

"Chester is the starter, and he'll come back and start," coach Brad Childress said, adding: "It's not going to be any different than I had originally intended. But you know the best laid plans sometimes go awry."
I think that says it all right there. Chester may be there "starter" but ADP is still going to get at least 60% of the carries. (I see it closer to 2/3rds, with Chester getting the first series the ADP coming in, Chester spelling ADP whenever needed).
