How many yards would you average if you played RB for an NFL team? (2 Viewers)

0.5. If my oline is doing its job, I could get back to the line of scrimmage on most plays. I would get hit immediately at the LOS and be stopped immediately. I figure I could fall forward once in awhile when hit from the side. I am not running over any player in NFL.

They wouldn't know how to use me, kinda like CJ Spiller. No.. make that like Tommy Vardell.

It depends if the defense realizes how awful I am.

If they think I'm an average NFL running back, I might be able to get within 2-3 yards of the LOS before I fall down on purpose to avoid getting hit.

Once they realize I'm just some guy from the couch, they'd blitz every play. I'd be useless in pass protection, as a dump-off receiver, or on a draw. So they'd just bring the house and I would get killed, figuratively if not literally, for 5-7 yard losses and fumbles on every play.

I'd have to check the warranty on my knee and hip. I don't think they were designed to hold up to the NFL. I'm not sure I'd want to take them for even one test spin out there. Now in the 70's, well I would have bet I would be more efficient than Trent Richardson has been thus far, but then again I was bigger, as strong, and just as fast then as he is now.

Oops, my bad, checking his combine results I was not as fast.

I'd be good at getting all the attention, and so the receivers would be wide open and we'd win almost always.

I imagine I'd average somewhere in the low 2s. I work out often and I'm in my early 30s so haven't lost much of a step. I'll guess 2.2.

I honestly think I could average close to 4 yards per carry. I am not as fast as I used to be but that would translate into patience in my running style and allow holes to open. I would not have many if any long runs because I would be easily caught from behind. I would league the league in fumbles probably. I would be great in pass protection because that part of the game is mental in identifying the blitzer. I could be the emergency punter as well. I'm not sure how far my punts go but the last time I punted in the yard i had a very good hang time.

If you had one carry in the wildcat and if you got 7 yards you win a million dollars you don't think you could get the 7? you just run to the back of your best blocker and follow him to the million.

:lmao: so ridiculous.

Compared to your "scale"? Not even in the same ballpark.

I reckon I'm near the top of 47 year old running back prospects available. 6'0, 195 lbs, estimated 4.7-4.8 speed, 8 bench press, 9' long jump, 20" vertical. Above average vision. If Icky Woods is a decent comparable, probably better than most ex NFL 47 year old RBs at this point. With than in mind, 2.0 ypc.

on my one NFL carry I would lose 3 yards. I would be knocked out cold, pee my pants, and then think I was batman and eat a snickers bar.

So -3 yards per carry.

:rolleyes: I get that most of you dorks couldn't even compete in a thumb-wrestling match with my niece, but some of us actually have natural athletic ability and a little thing called heart.

I've had this conversation a few times with assorted buddies. We always use the following conditions;

  • You are the starting RB and will get a similar workload to a feature back in the NFL, regardless of your performance
  • You show up for OTAs and work with the offense as the RB1 throughout training camp
  • You go on an NFL player's diet/workout routine (as much of that as you can physically handle)
  • You are immune to injury and play the entire 16 game season
I'm 39 and in average shape. I'd assume I could at least get into decent shape over the course of several months of training. My line for the year would probably something like this;

259 carries, -375 yards, 0 TD

14 receptions, 0 yards, 0 TD

And my team would go 0-16.

What distance?

:lmao: at the guy above suggesting 4 yards/carry. Eddie George averaged less than that his last year. Trent Richardson, the highest drafted rb in his draft class doesn't average that. What's the league average,4.2ish?

There's one group of guys I could see Ho could honestly answer this question with some positive yardages near the league average - that would be international level rugby sevens players.

I doubt there are any on this board.

Probably around 15.7

Unless I opened my eyes and saw the defense coming at me

Then

Probably

Maybe

I'd #### my pants and average -7.7

Please. To even think about any of us sniffing anything close to 4yd per carry average is ridiculous. If you could, you would be in an NFL locker room swimming in money right now.
