How many years do you guys think Favre will keep playing and be effective? I am considering getting him in a dynasty league and I want to gauge his value.
so drop aaron rodgers from the dynasty rosterI see another 4-5 years. The guy's a reincarnation of George Blanda.
Blanda did not play QB full time past the age of 39.I see another 4-5 years. The guy's a reincarnation of George Blanda.
So? I'm talking longevity, man.Blanda did not play QB full time past the age of 39.I see another 4-5 years. The guy's a reincarnation of George Blanda.
One thing I noticed on Sunday when they showed his current consecutive games streak - although he has long held the record for QB's, he is I believe about 25 games behind Jim Marshall (I believe, not certain) for the all time record for all positions. I think if he can start the rest of this season and all of next, he will either tie Marshall or pass him. Easily his most impressive accomplishment in my opinion.
FINALLY!!!!Sorry, not to make a point of you, but finally someone had the nuts to step up in one of these posts and admit they were wrong this past off season let alone 2 or 3 years ago. . . .so thank youI feel bad for a few players in the NFL for all the grief they catch for being good or being bad, but set aside being a packer fan, and Favre has to be close to the top of that list. For over 2 seasons now we have been listening to how he should or should have retired. . .and not just from some of you. . .the media has been relentless about it. It seemed he couldn't answer more than 2 questions with out going back to when he would retire. . .NOW . .NOW!!!!. . . .the NFL world is lifting him upon a throne and bowing down. And not because he is pretty good for an old guy, but simply because he is an elite NFL QB this year. Some have even put him in a category with Manning and Brady. I don't think he is on that level, but maybe I'm wrong. . . .Manning didn't look too stellar Monday night with out his supporting cast. . .so who knows. My point is, that as much as I love watching Favre play, and what he brings to the game. . .I truly hope that he can go out on a high enough note (this year or next), so that we dont digress back to "He should have retired 3 years ago", or that he is "Ruining the Packers as a team", or having to listen to the retire ment questions every other question. With that said . . . .see my sig!!!!i thought he was toast 2-3 years ago. i was wrong.i have no idea how long he'll play, but i'd guess he'd be back next season (unless they win a SB this year, in which case, i'd guess he's done)
How many 38 year old QBs have been productive starters in this league? All bets are off if they win the Super Bowl (highly unlikely), but I think he probably has at least 2, maybe 3 or 4 years left. I think you will probably have to cart him off the field before he leaves. I'm not much for the circus each off season, and I know it drives many people nuts, but I think he honestly feels like his family deserves more attention and that is why it is such a tough decision for him each year. However, the competitive fire in him will simply refuse to have him let it go.I think next year will be Favre's last. How many 39 year old QBs have been productive starters in this league? It just seems much more likely that he'll return to his 2005-2006 form and people will start calling for Aaron Rodgers again.I do think it's amazing that he's on pace for his highest yardage total in his career, and actually has an outside shot of breaking Dan Marino's single-season record of 5084 yards.
If you look at what Warren Moon did late in his career, I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think Favre can do the same.QB's 38 yo and older with at least 200 fantasy points:How many 38 year old QBs have been productive starters in this league? All bets are off if they win the Super Bowl (highly unlikely), but I think he probably has at least 2, maybe 3 or 4 years left. That's my question. What's his contract status? He's gotta be at least an RFA after this season and my team needs a QB. A guy who's already held the clipboard and taken a few NFL snaps might be just the ticket.so drop aaron rodgers from the dynasty rosterI see another 4-5 years. but then again how many people have the most td's, yards, consecutive games played records? You can throw out any comparisons to any other qb because there is no qb like him.His 2005-6 form was due to the fact that they had absolutely no wr's/te's, this year he has 3 wr's and is all the sudden great again. He's the same qb he always was he just has more talent around him now.I think next year will be Favre's last. How many 39 year old QBs have been productive starters in this league? It's certainly possible but I'd expect him to come back. With Favre it won't be a deterioration in his ability that will lead him to retirement it will be the mental/physical toll and whether he can/wants to continue to play. Mentally, from what I've heard it seems like he's got one more year in him but there are guys that follow the Pack closer than me that may have better insight. Is there any chance Favre retires after this year? I have the chance to acquire him right now in my league, but would only do so if it is likely he will be back next year.
I don't think it is a foregone conclusion that he is playing beyond this year. He has been contemplating retirement for a couple of years now; some players would rather go out on a high note and salvage what health they have left. He may of come back knowing that he was better than what he showed the last few years and now would be ok with walking away???AtomicDogg97 said:Is there any chance Favre retires after this year? None are FAVRETASTIC!!!!How many 38 year old QBs have been productive starters in this league?
Only if they win the Super Bowl. Otherwise, I'd have to say it's 99% certain he'd give it one more go.AtomicDogg97 said:Is there any chance Favre retires after this year? I have the chance to acquire him right now in my league, but would only do so if it is likely he will be back next year.
