How much $ do you pay for your entry fee? (1 Viewer)

I consider the $50 & $100 leagues low stakes and the $250 one medium stakes - but I'm not sure exactly what the standard is.
I'd agree with that. Over $500 is high stakes IMO. It either depends one what you consider a big buy-in and pay-out o how much money you have in the bank.FWIW- I play 8 real leagues (none less than $50). I have one "friendly" that is $20 but more like a free league to me
Please do not take this the wrong way, but how on earth do you find time to play in 8 leagues? I played in 3 leagues last year and swore I would never do it again. SO I am back in three leagues again (and the subscriber contest here), and know that I will lose my mind. Are you single with no kids? Can you do fantasy at work? You either have a ton of knowledge or are able to spend a great deal of time studying. DO you have any tips for someone that is swamped with just 3 leagues. This year, my leagues cost: 1. $652. $503. $20
its not that hard, its just not that fun (root for and against everybody). After trying to cut down I ended up in 5 some how this year and not ecstatic about it. Keep up on the news is all, but you would do that anyways in your main leagues.$50, $60, $75, $70, and Free(work). Ideally I think $100 would be a good number for all of them, but its tough to get friends to agree.

1) $75

2) $300

3) pick 'em - $50

Wouldn't the stakes really be relative to the average income of the league member?

The $300 league i'm in is all dentists... relative to their income levels, it's pretty low stakes.

I don't think the members of this board are an accurate representation of the entire ff community. I'm well aware that people on this board don't think $350 is high stakes, and I'd argue all day long that they're in the very small percentage I mentioned earlier. For example, I don't know a single person in real life who plays for more than $200. I don't think it's about what people can afford.
The first result in a google search for "fantasy football demographics" claims that the average amount fantasy players spend is $200 per year. The people you know in real life represent a miniscule portion of the millions who play fantasy football, and I assume are subject to some kind of selection bias. They spend less than the average player, apparently.I'd argue that the members of this board have the demographics that they do because the fantasy community at large has these demographics: 91% white, 93% male, 25-34 years old, annual income $60-100K, 70% bachelor's degree or higher, 84% heavy internet users, etc. We probably are a pretty accurate representation of the entire FF community. It's a billion dollar industry.

Like anything else, there will of course be fewer people playing for $350+ than there are playing for $35. But it's not some infinitesimally small minority as you seem to imply.
I thought we were talking about individual league fees while the website you talk about says the average person spends $200 on ff total which probably includes guides, magazines, site fees, etc. That's a pretty huge difference and would make a $350 entry fee way way up there on the percentile chart.
