How much money did Brandon Jacobs make himself tonite...? (1 Viewer)

Didn't think the Giants running game looked nearly as physical or intimidating as it usually does. I know for the most part, conventional wisdom is saying the Giants would be re-signing Jacobs over Ward. But in case the Giants were thinking of:

1) Potentially going with an RBBC with Ward and Bradshaw at a much lower price

or

2) Not going top dollar to ensure Jacobs stays in blue

...tonight really showed how important he is to that team. Maybe Dallas was a back aainst the wall, possessed team with a media chip on their shoulder. But th Giants looked far from what has been the best team in football. Jacobs means alot.

The Giants were flat tonight. Jacobs may have helped but maybe not. The O line was struggling all day in both opening holes for the Rb's and in protecting Manning.

The game next week is huge for the Giants though. There is no reason to be flat for that one and no reason to rest Jacobs. The Giants will want Jacobs to play next week, let's see how he responds?

Whether Jacobs plays next week and how effective he is will mean more to his free agency cause than anything that happened this week.

NYG's Homer/Fan.

Jacobs sitting tonight, and our lack of production has basically given him his pay day. Jacobs is our offense, Eli is good... but with plaxico gone and our receivers struggling to get separation, we need him. He's averaging almost 5 yards per carry on 1st down, any idea what that does for a drive?? Jacobs has given us the ability to basically work with 2nd and 5 for the whole season. It's very easy for a playbook to open on 2nd and 5, he is our offense, he is a horse and stud and if we don't give him whatever he's asking I pray to god we don't play him.

It's not only his play but his emotional presence that's lights the offense up. They were definitely missing a spark. Without him there's really nobody on that offense to fire the team up.

Big plays fire the team up. Without Plax or Brandon they just don't seem to have many.

I think Brandon is one of the better RBs in the NFL. No one gets tough yardage as well as him. He's not one to destroy a team for 150-200 yards like some so he's not the best but, he's consistently productive. I'd be curious where he is in runs +20 yards vs other RBs.

IIRC Jacobs and Ward are free agents as Ward got next to no interest and signed a 1 year deal.

The Giants have to try to keep both. They're the top rushing offense in the NFL. They're so big and run so tough it wears down just about every D. Bradshaw is perfect for his 4th quarter role of running around a tired D. I'm not sure Jacobs without Ward would have been better against Dallas. That D played a great game. I would figure with both, the Dallas D would be more tired and it could have helped. I didn't think either team played like they wanted to win until the Boys finally woke up.
