Maybe care a little about what other people say occasionally, and a little less about how you feel about everything in the world and you won't feel so blindsided when someone dares to express his own past experiences in reaction to your statement.
I don't know how many times I have reached into my own pocket to help around here but it's  more than a few. And I don't know how many times I have sent a personal PM to someone going thru a tragedy in their life, a hospital stay, major surgery....you're just being a jerk right now because it's the cool thing to do. Maybe it made you feel better to post all that.

MOP doesn't think highly of the medical community and the drug companies...let's run that ####### off the boards. The level of demonization that occurs every time I voice an opinion is beyond normal let's say. There's always been and always will be a double standard or higher standard for MOP.

I think I know he LeBron must feel now, whew!

One of the people who rents from us is a similar shade of stupid.  He thinks that all oncologists are in bed with big pharma and that cancer has been cured multiple times but the cure has never been made available because of the money made from cancer treatments.  About 6-months ago, he told me that he was going to a hospital to unhook his friend from a chemo machine.  He's also an anti-vaxxer.

Yes, I'm being the jerk.  To be cool.

Geez - WTF happened? I came to see glorious tales of FBG's making huge bank and I come into a medical industry holy war? Black dots will be leaving in droves....

1.  If you sent a personal pm, how can you expect others to take that gesture and sentiment into account when evaluation one of your posts which come across as myopic and self-centered?

2. You said in a post, "if your dad really died that way."  The plain language of that statement suggests you have some doubt regarding the veracity of his statement about his dad's passing. That's the most jerkish thing anybody has said in here.

3. This whole thing started with you ridiculously attacking some of our professions without prevocation then switched gears, by you, to an attack of an entire other profession where you made a serious sweeping generalization based on one anecdotal personal story. That's ####### stupid and people are going to say so.

4. For the love of god you're not education's version of lebron James. You're not even Presbo from The Wire.

Well, now this thread officially has almost everything I hate.  Bragging, random vitriol and accusations directed toward someone whose dad died, and finally some white guy just has to talk about The Wire.

Now, for the FBG's success poll we need Otis to post a question about our income multiplied by the 1 through 10 hotness figure for our wives, divided by our body fat % number as a raw number and not a %, divided by number of STD's (Those with 0 get to multiple by 1.7.

So if you make 1 million per year, have a wife who is a 9, have a body fat rating of 20% and have herpes and genital warts your number is 225000.  If you make 400,000, have a wife who is a 9, have 10% body fat and no STDs you get a 385,200.
It's like you read my mind.
You guys inspired me, so I've spent day and night this week :hangover:  developing a system that will rate users based on a number of categories.    After countless hours of R&D and extensive testing, I am finally ready to roll out the new FBG Rating System (FBGR).  The FBGR is a fair and balanced system that will rate each user using a proprietary set of formulas.

Open to suggestions to tweak it.  One thing I'm thinking is adding a weighting to the salary to account for cost of living.

@shader - thoughts?

Positive Points for:

Liverpool

Any "non-Big 6 team"

Neutral Points for:

Arsenal

Chelsea

Negative Points for:

ManU

Tottenham

Man City (won't have to worry about this one...don't know if these fans exist)

Double Negative Points for:

Making fun of soccer or not having a favorite EPL team

I am going to defer to you and Otis on working out the final formula.  I am more of a basic idea man.  I leave fleshing the ideas out to the actual pros.  At best I am a dilettante.

Your general thinking is pretty accurate.

What if your favorite EPL team is no longer in the EPL, having been relegated twice?

If you max out your contribution in July, the company can no longer match on your % that you contribute because you no longer can contribute.

I get quarterly "bonuses" and have to make sure I leave enough on the table to not lose out later in the year.
So as long as Your annual contribution doesn't exceed $18k, your company can match on top, yes?

It depends on what your matching terms are, but for me, no.

I get a 100% match for the first 3% I put in, then a 50% on the next 2% I put in.  So, if I put in 6%, the company will match 4%.  The trick is that I have to be contributing 6% (or more) to get the full 4% match.  So, in my case if I have contributed $17,500 by the end of July, there is no way for me to continue getting the full 4% match the rest of the year because I cannot contribute the required 6%.  The most I will have matched in this case would be on the additional $500 I put in.  So, I am effectively leaving money on the table unless I time it out where I max out my contribution on my last paycheck of the year.

I also get 6% profit sharing, but that is paid regardless of contributions by me into the 401k.

"I make $100K a year but it feels like $300K because I live where  a) it's currently -29 with windchill - or at least lower than MOP's current Q rating on this board b) tumbleweeds are the state tree c) cicadas are the state pet".

Downgrades living in desirable areas.  If you went this way you'd have to throw in state tax situation, quality of the wimmenz, etc.  Don't overweight cheap dirt.

Depends on what you consider desirable.  Living in a city is the worst.
