How old is to old to go into locker room with mom? (1 Viewer)

Man people coddle their kids these days. When I was 8 we used to play in broken glass and ride bikes across parkways with no supervision.

This kids mother wont even let him change his underwear by himself
I think the problem is that other people want to coddle our kids way too much these days, leading to moms not wanting to let them get changed by themselves.

Maybe the pool should beef up security so little billy isnt exposed to all that trim

The difference is reporting. The reality is the numbers have been fairly constant for years. You just hear about it because of the internet and 24 hour news cycle.

Things came to a head last night. The woman quickly made a beeline for the locker room with the kid but the woman whose hoo-hah was being described by the kid the other day was blocking the entrance. Hoo-Hah lady was actually screaming things like 'Yeah, well it wasn't your p***y he was describing' which was surprising since I've never heard her curse or say anything remotely risque until than. There were times that I honestly thought they were going to throw-down, but cooler heads eventually prevailed. The owner was called by his staff and he rushed over and I'm told the woman was given two choices:

1. Leave the club and get her money refunded.

2. The boy was to use the mens locker room only.

Don't know what she chose, but she left almost immediately after the conversation.

You got a phone number for this kid?

So the owner didn't even offer to let her change in the mens' room? What a wuss.

It's for the best though, as she's not attractive. Hoo-hah, lady though......I would be ok with them making her change in the men's room. Stay at home mom that does nothing but work out and run when the kids are at school.

I bet if you went and hung out with the kids and said "Nah, he's got it all wrong. He obviously didn't see her naked. I know what she really looks like" you could diffuse the situation. Of course, the kids would have to believe you've seen her naked. See if you and this woman can come up with a way to lend that some credibility.

So wait a minute...you're saying she has a hairy box? When did you see this lady's box?

No, I'm not.

Its more that these moms live on social media and 24 hour news and think Sandusky is waiting for their kid in the other locker room.

Over the age of 6 is out of line in my opinion.
My first thought was 5.
when your kid turns 5, check back in.

when my oldest turned 5, he was a freaking maroon. could barely feed himself, let alone get dressed and undressed by himself in a lockeroom without one of us. And looking at most of his peers, I think this wasn't unusual. By the time he turned 6, different story.

Wait a minute. There are family changing rooms? For one family at a time, or one big changing room for multiple families? I like this idea, minus the kids and all.

Don't bother - if he's anything like my 8 year old he'll use Minecraft to describe it and totally kill your boner.

This is a timely topic for me as my 4 1/2 year old daughter just started swim lessons at the local high school pool. They don't have a family locker room which leads me to the decision between bringing her in to the male locker room or changing at home before and after. I chose the home option because we live fairly close, but it's still a pain in the neck (classes are early evening - coming straight from work).

I would agree with the others that 5 and under should be permitted. (Kids 5 and under still might need help using the toilet too which is more of an issue than just getting dressed.) Any kid 6 and up should be using their own facilities.

I don't disagree with you. My post piggy-backed off Harry's which qualified it as "over the age of". So my opinion is over the age of 5. Or, in other words, 6 and up.

Oops, Henry. Had a "Harry" involved in some work I was simultaneously doing.
