No way, dude. This totally works. I do it in Vegas all the time. Dealer hits blackjack twice in a row? He's probably in for a letdown and will bust next time. I'm actually banned from most Vegas casinos because this amazing strategy is unbeatable!Worst fantasy advice of the year. Nice work! For example, a kicker coming off of 2 or 3 straight good weeks probably is due for a letdown, meanwhile a kicker still ranked top 10 or 12 weekly that's had a couple of stinkers in 2 of his last 3 games or 2 straight could finally be in for a better week.
After picking two preseason, Top 12 K's in our roster 2 K league this year (Bullock and Josh Brown), this is exactly what I did. The Miami K will probably bagel this week.Pick the highest scoring kicker of the waivers every week.
Thats nice bc I grabbed Bell in the 12th and Julius Thomas in the 16th - Throw in Prater, who brought me back from 12 under last night, & we'll call it evenWhile you were doing that, I was drafting Joique Bell and Knowshon Moreno.Investing in a kicker 3-4 rounds before the draft is over pays dividends!!
You need to draft a kicker that is on a high scoring offense - Simple logic...
NE, Den, Atl, etc... It makes a lot of sense grabbing one of these guys and never having to think about it.![]()
I tried to get rid of them in my main league this year and it was voted down....decisively. I guess people don't like change. To me, kickers in fantasy are pointless. If you have kickers in your league, you're doing it wrong.
I try to do the same and ideally aim for a late bye and a dome. In my 4 leagues I have Dan Bailey in 2 and Matt Bryant in 2.I draft one with a late bye week and leave him in there unless he gets hurt. When his bye week comes around I grab the highest ranked kicker off the WW. After the bye week I keep the kicker of the two who has scored the most up until that point and leave him in there until the season's over. Any other way is pure folly.
The next league I start up as commish is gonna have a starting lineup of QB, RB, R/W, WR, WR, WR/TE, TE, flex (or superflex). If you have kickers in your league, you're doing it wrong.
This really isn't a bad idea.I look at the vegas over/unders and pick the kicker from the favorite to win in a high scoring game.
i figure they are smarter than i am
Thinking of dropping Zuerlein for Gould, too. Like you, I'm scared The Leg will hit two 50 yarders that night and Gould will get me three extra points.Rolling with Phil Dawson in almost all my leagues. Usually try to take a kicker from a good team (W/L wise) that has a strong defense, giving them short fields and more opportunities. Well the Niners haven't really been that so far, and Dawson's attempts (3) have suffered.
Thinking of dropping him for Robbie Gould (fits my formula as well) but I like to have a player on Thursday night Football, plus I have an irrational fear that if I drop a kicker he'll hit 4 FGs.
Stick it out, or go for Gould. Hmm.
More than one post in this forum that suggests Thursday players actually underperform per average.Rolling with Phil Dawson in almost all my leagues. Truly? Each time I've gone with Kickermania!, it hasn't been productive. I haven't studied how productive it is, but it hasn't worked out well for me in my limited experience. Have you studied the success rate or similar of Kickermania!?Kickermania!
Ha! This!I use my kickers to 'drop' for waivers that i need, wait out the rest of the week for injury reports, then drop my 'weakest' player and pick up a kicker right before a kickoff. (whosever rated highest from a few websites or gut)![]()
Man, I've never read one of his articles. All guys miss a few picks here and there, but it's amazing how many of these he got REALLY wrong. No he doesn't.Agree with the strong-offense/plays-in-dome/big-leg criteria.
The other thing that I usually do is wait a few weeks and look at the highest scoring kicker who's still available on the WW. I had Mason Crosby going on bye, so I checked our scoring and it turns out Caleb Sturgis is the No. 2 kicker after three games. Is there any significance in that? Maybe! (Not a great offense, plays in nice weather, and he's currently tied for the league lead in 50+ FGs, with two). But what the hell, I'll ride him for a few weeks and then re-evaluate.
The key is not to lose any sleep over it. Just pick someone and run with him. It's a total crapshoot, and I agree that they should probably not be included in fantasy.
My favorite is when websites include Ks in their Start/Sit columns. "The offense could get bogged down in this game, leading to lots of opportunities." Whatever, dude.HAHA! Totally agree...Matthew Berry loves to give K advice in his Love/Hate weekly....ha!Agree with the strong-offense/plays-in-dome/big-leg criteria.

When I plugged him into my kicker formula, I got +/- 26.294 so that tells you everything you need to know about Sturgis.ahartig said:Two words: Caleb Sturgis
Dude has a leg and is crazy accurate. The Fins have a good team this year and can move the ball. Caleb can sink them from 50+ and they aren't afraid to let him do just that.

Why not try and maximize your points at every position? 3 points could be the difference between 3-0 and 0-3.Pick a kicker and stick with him until your bye week unless he's hurt or is missing everything. If you're worried about kicker's points, your team must not be that good.
Sturgis it is for me. This week....We roster two kickers in our league. Started Bullock the first two weeks. Then, started Josh Brown against the Panthers with no secondary
. Picked up Caleb Sturgis for Miami and starting him this week versus NO. Sturgis might be a
y pickup as the Dolphins are putting up points but they are not so good that they are converting everything into TD's.
All in all, K's will drive you nuts!!!!!!!!!
