So another extreme example. Say we have a 3-0 team right now and they miss the next 13 weeks due to Covid while ever other team plays 16 games.
They get a bye?
They get a bye?
Assuming they don't play anymore games and no other team ends the season with no losses, then yes. I don't know what the league would do for a tiebreaker between teams with no losses. Neither one would have a better record in any of the tie breaking scenarios. It might just be a coin flip at that point. But the chances of being the outcome are about as close to zero without actually being zero. I am sure they would be teams suggesting if they couldn't play a game in all that time they are probably unable to make a playoff appearance . . . and the league might give that idea serious consideration. We might be entering unchartered and unexplored territory in the league rules at that point. So another extreme example. Say we have a 3-0 team right now and they miss the next 13 weeks due to Covid while ever other team plays 16 games.
They get a bye?
I'd love to see the Bears get a deep playoff seed because of this.So another extreme example. Say we have a 3-0 team right now and they miss the next 13 weeks due to Covid while ever other team plays 16 games.
They get a bye?
I give you credit for thinking something bigger would happen around Week 4. But don't you get tired of being Chicken Little? You're taking a HUGE leap from 4 players on a team to multiple teams missing a month of games.
facook, welcome to "Ignore".If a team wins their 1st game and then ties the next 15 games, do they make the playoffs? Do they get a bye?
Serious question.
I wouldn’t put it past Bill. He plays chess."What if Bill Belichik spits under Andy Reid's shield and the Chiefs have 14 weeks of COVID?@!??!?!? WHAT THEN, GUYS!!?!?!"
If there are no more positives tomorrow morning, they'll play. Whether that's a good idea is another question.I imagine the Chiefs Pats game will be postponed, they won't know for a few days who is positive
After seeing Titans players and staff continue to test positive after previously testing negative I’m not so sure. Also, if you’re KC, why would you even agree to play the game at this point? If there are no more positives tomorrow morning, they'll play. Whether that's a good idea is another question.
cause players like getting paidAfter seeing Titans players and staff continue to test positive after previously testing negative I’m not so sure. Also, if you’re KC, why would you even agree to play the game at this point?
but I am not sure KC has a say in it. I hear you. But The Shield is prepared to plow through (almost) anything. If it's just Cam, game on. I think. After seeing Titans players and staff continue to test positive after previously testing negative I’m not so sure. Also, if you’re KC, why would you even agree to play the game at this point?
The union does and will get involved imo.cause players like getting paidbut I am not sure KC has a say in it.
I think this will follow exactly like the Titans Steelers game. Delayed then rescheduled.I hear you. But The Shield is prepared to plow through (almost) anything. If it's just Cam, game on. I think.![]()

Now sounding like, Tuesday Night Football, Patriots at Chiefs.
I have my doubts as well, the question is will we know before tomorrow's games kickoff?Yeah that’s not happening
I’ve replaced every Chiefs and Patriots player in my lineups. This sucks.I have my doubts as well, the question is will we know before tomorrow's games kickoff?
Im treating players in this game like they are very questionable to play and may have to start someone to cover that base on Sunday. This is terrible for people that have starting players like Mahomes, Hill, Helaire, Kelce, Edelman
Plowing through means multiple missed games starting next week.I hear you. But The Shield is prepared to plow through (almost) anything. If it's just Cam, game on. I think.![]()
Pretty much. No reason to be married to the current super bowl date. Push it out as much as needed to allow for makeups.Just cancel the entire week for all teams.
Add a week 18.
Keep doing that. Heck maybe we end up with 26 weeks and an April super bowl.
That MONSTER was wrong about EVERYTHING!Coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci believes the NFL will have a difficult time playing the 2020 season unless it is conducted in a "bubble" environment.
Ok. So it's been about 5-6 weeks since you're post. You act like you know everything that has been and has not been happening behind the scenes. I'm not sure that everything the league has been doing is publicized.
Don't blame Shirley.I know, that's why I'm wondering what the NFL will do if the virus sweeps through a team and half a roster tests positive on a Friday afternoon. In MLB there's already a precedent for postponing games (albeit not for this reason), surely the NFL is coming up with some kind of plan to deal with this since it's not as simple to just reschedule.
If that's the case then the past week in the NFL might be the best thing to happen to sports in the entire western hemisphere.Baseball was a mess to start but they just did 12,301 tests this past week and only 2 players were positive. I think football would take that, and honestly the Marlins and Cardinals disaster were the best things to happen to both sports.
How much further down do you think they will go?MLB will make up every game if needed. So will the NFL. MLB found a way. NFL will find a way if needed. It's really not that complicated. I'm sure they have a plan for it all and I don't need to know what it is. The NFL has dealt with missed games and weeks before.
At this point, they are doing way better than anyone expected. Just 19 guys on Covid IR. Only a few new cases recently. Number will keep going down.
Is this what Joe means by a victory lap? Congrats.Ok. So it's been about 5-6 weeks since you're post.
Are the owners and league JUST ABOUT to unleash their super secret plan to fight the Covid realities, or has goodell seen his shadow and we should wait another 6 weeks?
I have no idea what he mean, you would have to ask him.Is this what Joe means by a victory lap? Congrats.
The sad part is if some people would have taken this more seriously in the first place we wouldn't be here. It more than just bums me out. It kind of makes me angry. If you don't have me on ignore, I just want to apologize. At this point it certainly appears you were more right than I was. Bums me out, but here we are.
Careful, you are entering "victory lap" territory!Adam Schefter

All other Patriots’ tests returned negative tonight, source tells ESPN.
I thought the NFL (including individual players/staff) would do everything possible to make their money. Bummed to be wrong. The sad part is if some people would have taken this more seriously in the first place we wouldn't be here. It more than just bums me out. It kind of makes me angry.
They got it down to zero. How much further down do you think they will go?
@BoltBacker , I was curious about why you commented on this old post earlier this evening. I think I understand.Money or no money ... the NFL can't have a season without publicly letting COVID-19 burn through some portion of their rosters and some portion of other connected people (families, coaches, trainers, team staff, etc.). How does the league navigate the "You all are purposefully letting this happen to make a buck" PR hit?
I mean ... I know on the back side of this thing, viewers will come right back to the NFL. But in the immediate term -- don't the powers-that-be have a major image problem as they knowingly accept so much risk for so many people? Yes, yes ... I realize that fans accept concussions, severe musculoskeletal injuries, etc. In the current zeitgeist, however, COVID complications don't seem to fit into the same mental bucket as "ordinary" on-field risks.
I guess let's see if MLB starts having any blowback after half the Marlins team has come down with COVID-19.
