How would you feel if your team changed their uniform drastically? (1 Viewer)

The Patriots did it around the same time we were going from being a suckass team for so long, to being Super Bowl contenders, so the new look was kind of a washing away the old way you looked at them. They have also changed them slightly a few times since, I like to current ones, and also enjoy watching the throw back weekend games with an actual good team playing in those Patriot Pat unis.
:goodposting: I prefer the new ones much more (I also think they're Top 5 NFL), but I enjoy watching Brady and Bruschi in the throwbacks. I wish they'd do it for one home game a year. Get rid of those stupid silver alternates. You can barely tell they're silver. Just go back to Pat Patriot for those "special uni" games.

The only thing that annoys me about the Cowboys uniform is the use of royal blue numbers/letters/stripes on the jersey, but a nice navy blue elsewhere.

While many do not like the Detroit Lions logo, I think it is fine and I don't particularly like change to tradition.

Here is a proposed change to the logo I found:

I dislike adding black as a primary color. Looks as ugly as the Jets black and green unis before Parcells straightened then out and got them back to the classic version.
I agree but adding black helps move product. If a team can come up a uniform variation that has black as a possible primary or secondary option, then they'll sell more hats, jerseys, foam fingers, etc. I remember reading a study around the time the Kings changed their uniform colors and the S. Sharks, Heat, Magic, Marlins, Panthers and Jags entered professional sports. It was found that black product moved quicker. Now, just about all professional teams have some sort of black jersey variation. I really wish the Lions would bring back the plain helmets; jersey top minus black outline; plain silver pants and black shoes. Less is more.

I agree completely (with both posts). The change from the dark years to the dynasty years happened around the same time we switched from Pat Patriot to Flying Elvis. I know it's silly, but I just feel much more confident when they are in their current uniforms as opposed to when they're wearing the Pat Patriot throwbacks.I also agree that the silver jerseys have to go. You can't even really tell that they are silver and not just the white ones. They should be replaced by a red jersey, in my opinion. As for the colors and the uniforms, I agree that they are top 5 in the NFL. The others, in my opinion: Redskins, Steelers, Panthers, Raiders. Honorable mention to the Packers and Chiefs.

If the Colts ever changed their helmets to be anything other than what they are now, I would be VERY upset about it. Maybe for the away uniforms they could change the pants to blue, to get away from the all white look, but for me, that's the extent of uniform changes for the Colts that I could stomach.
I had this conversation with my friend yesterday, and the Colts are one team of many that could never change. To lose the horseshoe would just be wronfg. I would agree, maybe the blue away pants (which they tried in '96 I believe??) would be okay, but that is it.I began wondering if they were going to start to try and work a shade of grey in beginning last year, considering the switch to the grey facemask...perhaps a sign of things to come?

As a Jags fan, I hope they never change the helmet, I just think it's really sharp. I wish they'd stop wearing the black jersey once a season, since the teal and gold trim on those jerseys look terrible. I'm glad they have the black pants, but I'm not a huge fan of the newer white jersey, since they're predominently black & gold. Those colors belong to the Steelers/Saints. Regardless, as long as the teams keeps its colors and doesn't change the helmet, I'm fine with it.

As a Penn State fan, any change (even putting an NCAA Football sticker) on the back of the helmet would be drastic and unacceptable to the vast majority of the fan base. Hell, even the contrasting trim on the sleeves and collar annoys a lot of people.

A uniform being uniform throughout the years, how novel!

I wish they'd have gone with a powder blue color and a better team name than the Texans. It's too boring and bland and unoriginal.
Boy, I really disagree.Nobody ever mentions the Texans in the "best uniforms" debate, maybe because they are a fairly new team and nobody really thinks about them, but I think Houston's uniforms are one of the sharpest in the league!

Well I'm an old Oilers fan who grew up going to watch the Run-and-Shoot offense with Moon in charge. The name bugs me more than the uniforms. I remember a lot of the suggestions were just cartoonish (Apollos, etc) and Texans nearly became the de facto name after most of the suggestions were laughed out of town.Consider me a still bitter Oilers fan. I've really started to grow attached to the Texans though. It's fun watching a team try to develop from the ground up.

PISSED!

Steelers' Black & Gold & Penn State's Blue & White are old, old traditions. Don't see them change anytime soon... :football:

how about if they just leave town and leave you without any uniform?

This thread reminds me of when the Penguins changed to black and gold to match the Steelers and Pirates. I remember all of the moaning and complaining that came out of Bahstun, like they had a patent on the color scheme.

As a Bears fan, I found the all-orange jerseys nauseating (maybe nausea was the inspiration for the color). I understand, though, that it was simply a money grab by the team and that's ok. However, if they worked that uni into regular usage or changed anything about the logo, color or uniform itself, I would be livid. And I think people in Chicago would finally put a contract out on McCaskey.

My favorite uni, apart from the Bears, is the Charger throwbacks. The powder blue with the white helmets is a great combination - Spanos shows his utter stupidity by not changing back to it full-time (not that people in San Diego needed another example of his stupidity).

Not sure where you're going with this, but I'll throw it out there that Baltimore might not have lost the name and colors had they not tried to obtain the team through Entiment Domain. Cleveland was smart about it. Edit to say that I was a Baltimore Colts fan from 1966 - 1984, before accepting Indy. Of course I'm not from Baltimore, so I really don't care what city they play in, as long as it's the Colts.

This isn't enough to make you gag?

1. Denver Broncos, 1960-61. Most AFL teams were cash-strapped when the league got off the ground, but only the Broncos were frugal enough to use recycled unis, salvaged from the previous year's NCAA Copper Bowl game. Whatever the financial savings were, it wasn't worth it. The vertically striped socks made the team look like clowns (the socks were eventually burned in a big bonfire when the team got new unis in 1962), and the brown-on-yellow color scheme is an enduring reminder that chocolate and mustard are two great tastes that do not taste great together.

"Bahstun?" :confused:And I'm sure Steelers fans would be just fine with it if some other team in the NFL decided to change their colors to black and gold.

You can thank Bud Adams, he still owns the rights to the Oiler name and everything else. FWIW, I LOVE the Texans uniforms, although I agree the name is a little hokey to any out of staters.

Their gold clearly isn't the same color gold as Pittsburgh's. The Penguins' and Bruins' colors are identical.

You said "drastically". The Colts and Packers(my team) wouldn't do it. Minor changes maybe, but the white helmet and horseshoe are NFL history. We're talking pre-1950 with both teams. Giants, Bears, Packer, Lions, Colts, Browns, Steelers, maybe Eagles. It's an exclusive club. No way.
You got the bolded ones right. Colts' first year was 1953.But you missed the Cardinals (1920), Redskins (1932), Rams (1937), and the 49ers (1946).

The Chargers have changed colors and even logos a few times, and I have always viewed them as an upgrade (especially when they went from that pansy royal-blue color of the Fouts/Coryell era to the current (and more appropriate) navy blue.

I like the powders just fine, but navy is a "tougher" color.
