***Howard Stern*** (1 Viewer)

I just bought the portable sirius today after learning TALK RADIO IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE LISTENING only music. I took back the starmate and exchanged it. I am going to try and register it when I get off of work so I can listen to the first day of Bubba the love Sponge. For those of you who have not heard of him he is better than Stern.

You realize it's "portable" but it's port-able. You have to "port" it in a dock and record stuff to take it outside. You can't actively tune the dial when it's not docked, but yes you can technically 'take it with you'.

edit: apparantly this is just Monday's schedule:

The following is the schedule for Howard 100 and Howard 101 this coming Monday, January 9, 2006. (please note that this is not the regular weekday schedule).
Bubbas show was better than I thought it would be. I had never heard him before just what people have said. The macho man bit was hillarious.

George Takei was so good.  I enjoyed today.
Yeah man, that was a nice little suprise. That dude has the perfect announcers voice. I hope he sits in once in a while after this week.
Isn't this supposed to be completely commercial free? Howard mentioned having six commercials tomorrow.

No. The only thing that is commercial free are the music stations. Both sirius and xm advertise as "commercial free music". It should be three two minute comercial breaks per hour. Do you listen to breuer unleashed? the comercial breaks are extreamly short. just enought o walk out, take a leak and get back in the studio. I would imagine stern's being just like that.

I apologize if this was asked before but can someone tell me if I can listen to Howard on Dish Network? To lazy to look through the thread.TIA

Howard just clarified that the hang up with streaming his show via the internet is he wants to stream not only on the Sirius channel but also on HowardStern.com while the powers that be just want to stream the show on the sirius.com website. Howard doesn't understand why they wouldn't stream the broadcast on both sites and that is the hold up.

Heard that too - hopefully that means the show will be streamed soon - have a feeling there is more to it than that though.

Is the boombox for the sportster replay like this too - or is it truly portable?

No I think the boombox is truly portable, but I'm not sure how the antenna works. I think it's situated on top, but can be unwound to put it somewhere else for better reception.

Boomboxes are portable - there is an antenna on the top - however you will look like an extra from an 80's Breakdancing movie carrying that huge thing around with you!

:dumbquestion:

If it is streamed through the internet, are you going to need a Sirius password to get it?

:enddumbquestion:
If streamed on the sirius website, then you would need a Sirius password to listen. You get that by virtue of paying your subscription fee.It it were streamed on HowardStern.com, then you probably wouldn't have to have a subscription. This is likely the problem.

Sirius and Stern have to figure out a way to make money for ads on both sites and also maintain all the money for the subscriptions. Sirius didn't pay him $500 million (or whatever the real number is) so that he could play the show for free or make additional money off it or cut into their ad revenue.

There is likely a business model that is feasible for them to accomodate everyone, but they have to figure it out.

Did they reveal their big secrets or whatever?
Yes, they said what they were but they haven't attributed them to who said them. A few of the details,Someone paid for their girlfriend's abortion

Someone cheated on their wife and got caught

Someone has spent $10,000 on porn

Someone uses vegetables and meat to get off

Someone had a guy splooge on their chest

Someone had their stomach pumped due to alcohol poisoning and when they woke up in the hospital a person of the same sex was fondling their genitals

and others I cannot recall
Someone had cosmetic surgery recentlySomeone hid in a bathroom closet and pleasured themselves to 2 family members

Someone is addicted to porn, wacks it twice a day and would rather do that than have sex

2 more I cant remember
When do they reveal these? I'm very intrigued.

If only I would have seen your post before I exchanged it :wall: :wall: :wall: This pissed me off so bad I canceled the subscription after 30 mins.

After wasteing an hour of cell minutes while on hold yesterday I noticed they changed there automated response to say they are working to make Stern available over the net. Alot of people must have been complaining. It is BS that they don't mention that when they say you can listen online. And the dumb f**k at Circuit City should have told me I couldn't listen live on the portable one. WTF am I suppose to record every show I want to listen to? No thanks, I will wait until I can listen online before I subscribe. Stern is huge in NY, and most people cant listen to satelite radio in skyscrapers :wall:

Yes, they said what they were but they haven't attributed them to who said them. A few of the details,Someone paid for their girlfriend's abortion- Gary

Someone cheated on their wife and got caught- Howard

Someone has spent $10,000 on porn- Richard

Someone uses vegetables and meat to get off- Sal

Someone had a guy splooge on their chest- Robin

Someone had their stomach pumped due to alcohol poisoning and when they woke up in the hospital a person of the same sex was fondling their genitals- Arte

and others I cannot recall
Those are my guesses for these. Dont know where Fred fits in.
I think Freds is the cheating one. That could be what led to their seperation a while back.
You could be correct - especially since they were broken up when they had dinner with Howard and his wife, and paying for their girlfriend's abortion would be Howard (from his movie) but if that is true - then that is pretty damn weak confession.

My guesses:

1. I cheated on my wife and she caught me...Fred

2. I once hid in a bathroom closet and pleasured myself when my family members went to the bathroom...JD

3. In the last year, I got a girl pregnant and had to pay for her abortion...Jason

4. I think I'm addicted to porn - I jerk off twice a day and prefer to masturbate than have real sex...Sal or Scott Salem

5. I have spent well over $10,000 on internet porn...Richard

6. My buddy and I once ordered massage girls to our hotel room, but they ripped us off and we were left staring at each other in our underwear...Gary

7. I have pleasured myself with meat and vegetables...Benjy

8. I have a half-sister I've never met and don't want to...Scott Salem or Robin

9. I've had cosmetic surgery...Howard

10. A guy once blew his load on my chest...Robin or Sal

11. I once had my stomach pumped for alcohol poisoning and when I woke up in the hospital, an acquaintance of the same sex was fondling my genitals...Artie

Edit: I put in another set of guesses assuming that Robin didn't get the load. If it weren't her, than it must've been Sal in the booths.

Howard was even saying that #10 better not be Robin, since that's not a revelation. I love hearing the west coast feed to catch things I missed. And the little bit I heard Bubba yesterday was very good. The phone call to Ned was funny.I need to get the home kit. They were all sold out last time I checked.

Which radio do you have? I think the Xact comes with RCA wires and can be connected to a stereo.

I got the Sportster. Is the Xact battery operated, or do you need a power supply?

I have the Sportser also. I started with the Xact. With the car kit came a power outlet for the home and RCA jacks. So to listen to it at home I just hooked it up to my stereo and ran the antenna(sp) outside.

i'm still not sure that takei really thought that was arnold. it probably was a bit. the stuff the fake arnold was saying was so over the top, nobody should've really believed it.

He did. They were ripping on him this morning and replayed the clip to see his reaction that he was duped. Takei was embarassed for falling for it and said he just wanted to believe it was him.

Any person that has no problem exploiting mentally challenged individuals, who can not defend themselves nor understand how they are being used, is a serious #####. (IMO) I wouldn't give that ### the time of day.

Well, that is certainly your option as a free consumer
