Hurricane Sandy (1 Viewer)

I saw a blurb on twitter about the philly-atlanta game being moved, don't know to where and/or what time

I didn't think the storm was supposed to hit the Jersey/Philly area until Monday sometime.
Word i have here in NYC is late Sunday evening ... with rain hitting Sunday morn.
Last I heard the rain is supposed to start here in the DC area on Sunday and the worst of it is supposed to be Monday.
Pepco employees are scheduling their vacations for next week.
At least it won't be 100 degrees this time!

I scanned thru weather.com

It seemed to be Sunday morning hitting NY NJ area. There were two paths, one hitting VA was less likely than NJ. It would be rare (if not first time) for a storm to first make landfall at NJ .

Weather.com writer predicted a billion dollars worth of damage.

People aren't going to sit in a stadium at 1pm with the notion "oh it's not coming til 8pm and the NFL won't want to ask them to.

I haven't looked if Gmen or Jets are home. Stadium is about 1.5-4 hours driving to most jersey shore points.

A storm from Canada and a storm moving across US from the West to East are each cold-like the welcome to winter type storms we have every year where the temp shifts. All three could meet up. The pressure the storms could then have would be unusual as well.

One guess was that PA and higher Appalachian mountain areas could have snow from all this.

The worst part may be it could be a five to seven day storm for north east people.

looks like these games could be affected http://www.nfl.com/schedules

Dolphins at Jets

Falcons at Eagles

Redskins at Steelers

For those geographically challenged, Philly is close to NJ. Pittsburgh game is furthest here.

If they were to somehow swap home and away, idk that Redskins and Steelers would make much difference.

Under some of the most recent computer models, the hurricane is expected to move into the western Atlantic, lashing the Florida and Carolina coasts with rain and large waves. There is growing concern that Hurricane Sandy will then take a left turn toward the coast, possibly slamming into New Jersey by Tuesday with tropical-force winds, causing severe coastal and inland flooding and historic urban flooding in New York City, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Miami is @NYJ this weekend I believe. That would be a game that could need to be moved. Come on down New York, half the stadium down here is rooting for you anyways.

Latest advisory has Sandy off the coast of NC on Sunday.http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/at201218_5day.htmlIt remains to be seen how far out the rain and wind would extend. Storm seems to be losing tropical characteristics and could morph into low pressure system.
Here I am. A 7-Iron away from the ocean on the coast of NC. Yet this news makes me happy as I do not want the ATL\PHI messed with.

It's moving so slowly that NHC officials don't think it will affect NYC until Tuesday.
Question: Best sense for what NYC will expect? Franklin: Not 4 days out. Track error is average 200 miles. #Sandy

Not if you got a limo ride to the game and get to watch in a catered comfy suite. The storm can wait until Monday.THIS Sunday the Dolphins have some ### kicking to do.

Local news is saying that the Philly/Atlanta game WILL be affected...likely high-force winds (quoting at least 30 MPH) without significant rain, which should limit it to a ground game.

I'd think twice about starting Matt Ryan, who is facing a team who never loses after a bye week AND is dealing with those type of winds.

Not sure I could come up with a decent backup...though, benching Bryant for sure in a league where we actually have to carry two kickers.

You've got to be kidding me. I'm 2-5 and fighting for my playoff life. I'm starting in that game: Vick, Maclin, Julio, Gonzo. Unbelievable.

Reid must be pissed, he is now forced to let McCoy run for more then 15 times a game.

I am 4-6 with Ryan\Julio\Roddy White. Tough to replace all of that. I am more positive though:http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at3+shtml/115907.shtml?5-daynlhttp://news.yahoo.com/east-coast-braces-monster-frankenstorm-115029932.htmlI am no weather-person but that forecast does not have me feeling like I need to find any alternatives yet. If the game was Sunday night or Monday I would have some more concerns.

Weather reports change. Check Saturday night/Sunday morning. No need to worry about it now. Have replacements ready. I'm going to the Jets game, from what I hear it may rain, it may not. I will have a poncho on stand by.

Drugs.

I might start Andrew Luck over Matt Ryan this sunday. I already have Doug Martin in that league so I might as well play whoever.

I vented about it in the vent thread. Just bad luck. League plays 17 game schedule with double matchup weeks.

Based on the link below, the Eagles-Falcons game shouldn't be severely impacted. Some rain, moderate winds.

So in other words, those like me with Ryan and Julio shouldn't be benching these guys based off weather predictions.
Weather can change fast but based off that information if you were planning on starting any Eagles/Falcons involved in the passing game I see no reason to bench them due to weather-related concerns.

That link shows a 2/3 chance of rain and pretty heavy wind gusts..that seems like a concern. Personally, I'll probably play Luck over Ryan as a result, if things stay as they are.

so glad i picked up matt bryant in both my leagues when he was dropped last week...

will the crazy weather help or hurt the def? was hoping to use atl vs phi to get some vick turnovers

Current Philly forecast is for winds around 15 mph and 0.07 inches of rain per hour. Nothing extreme, and certainly not out of the expected range for late October. It could change, but Matt Bryant owners seem ok at this time.

I'm also starting Matt Ryan, but tempering expectations. Even if the storm is many many miles away, what you need to watch out for are wind GUSTS, not what they may predict as a steady 15 MPH wind. As it has skirted up the FL coast the past week, we barely got a drop of rain and the wind has been a steady 15 MPH (pleasantly breezy), but every few minutes there will be a sudden gust that knocks stuff everywhere. These games could wind up looking like the Bridgestone football tread commercials, really.

That link is calling for 20mph winds with gusts up to 36mph.

When I posted it the forecast was for gusts of 19 mph. Things have changed.
