Hype Train has Fallen off the Tracks - Kenbrell Thompkins (1 Viewer)

Lot of guys owe EBF an apology\hat tip after they tried to make him cry uncle though EBF "stubbornly" wouldn't back off his initial evaluation of Thompkins. Broncos Billy, I'm looking at you.

I might be one of these, idk.

He was in love with boyce and like blind love where Boyce wasn't giving us anything to praise and Thompkins was producing in camp.

I don't think KT is suddenly done and out of the league, we shall see.

I'm a fan of EBF and had some good fun in those threads. I don't think an apology is owed as of now, if I'm wrong then I would absolutely say I'm sorry. No shortage of EBF love here

For one thing, he could easily catch onto another team. This ship hasn't sailed yet, KT is still young.

For another, folks should start apologizing in the Trent Richardson, Christine Michael, or David Wilson threads before they make it to Kenbrell Thompkins.

Not to mention all the people counting their wins who drafted Jonathan Stewart and Toby Gerhart.

We all get some right, we all get some wrong.

This isn't over yet. I smell McDaniels immaturity behind this and it could very well blow up in NE's face. If no team picks Tompkins up or he doesn't get resigned by NE, then you'll see me own it. Until then, this isn't over.

But thanks for calling me out specifically. Did you get your rocks off?

Jeff Howe @jeffphowe

Kenbrell Thompkins was claimed by the Raiders, per source. The Raiders (0-4) had the second-highest waiver priority.
It's officially over now.

I guess this isn't the best landing spot, but at least the mind games have probably ended.
And the "Understatement of the Year" award goes to...

But seriously...Oakland is where WR's go to die. He'll inevitably have one huge game at some completely random moment in the season, and people will jump on board only to be disappointed by a string of 2/16/0 lines the rest of the way out. See also: Lewis Murphy, Jacoby Ford, D. Heyward-Bey, Rod Streater, Chaz Schilens, etc.

Very talented receiver and I wish him the best in the probably the worst landing spot possible. Just thankful he isn't a Jet.

What has been in the past, may not be in the future. Is KT better than those cats? Probably not, but there's a chance.

This isn't quite the death sentence though, that everybody thought was the Pats cutting him.

Former Patriots WR Kenbrell Thompkins has "turned some heads" at Raiders practice.

Claimed off waivers on Monday, Thompkins has already earned a litany of compliments from the Raiders' coaching staff. OC Greg Olson said Thompkins "has a tremendous work ethic," is an "intelligent player" and "looks like a polished receiver." Not bad for three days' work. It is difficult to take this news with anything but a grain of salt. We have seen glowing practice reports before from Thompkins, but they have rarely been harbingers of on-field success. Thompkins may climb the depth chart in Oakland, but is unlikely to come into any fantasy value this season.

That never happens. Just move onto the next person to bash.

So what are the thoughts on KT in Oakland?

I noticed Rob Rang has the Raiders drafting Cooper in the first. I am always in favor of giving a young QB the top WR prospect.

The Raiders seem to always have 2-3 guys that FF folks think will break out and rarely ever do, if so it seems like they aren't all that good a year or two later. (Which is probably what the previous poster meant about where WRs go to die)

Can KT be their #1? Would he and Jones be good enough?

OR

Is Cooper the answer? Class up the whole WR unit

As far as EBF, I believe I said so earlier about being wrong on KT. There was so much love for him from oh so many football minds, I'm still very surprised he didn't pan out. EBF loved Boyce who has stunk. Most people like Dobson who hasn't been much of anything. The Pats hit some of us dynasty league guys pretty hard that year. Their history doesn't indicate good drafting at WR at all. I mean lucky with Edelman but scrolling through their drafts you gotta go back to the Branch Givens draft to find some. We all wanted Brady's target and...totally fell for that. Are these 3 WRs pretty much done? Or does any still have a reasonable shot at NFL success?
