I received the complete Bond set for Christmas. All 23 movies. I am going to watch each one and post my drivel in here. Even for the terrible ones. Especially for the terrible ones.

Already sat through Dr. No, From Russia and Goldfiiiiiiiiiiinger so we have to pass on those.

Watching Thunderball now. My wife fell asleep 20 minutes in. She didn't even make it to the scene where #2 had the guy pushed into the shark pool ( scene).

Congrats. I got this a couple of years ago and absolutely loved watching them through chronologically. I learned three things:

1. The old Bond is a sexual harassing predator. My wife and I both find this funny as hell in episodes like Thunderball.

2. The old Bond movies are still awesome but you can see where the Austin Powers franchise is coming from and it's hard to screen that out.

3. Even the "bad" Bond movies are pretty damn entertaining. There aren't any that are tough to sit through on an objective level.

This one kind of ended with a dud. I like it when Spectre has internal angst and kills each other.

He's borderline rapey in this one. I like how he just kind of raises an eyebrow and 10 seconds later the panties are flying off.

I didn't know who Shane McConkey was until I ran into a documentary (I think that's what you would call it) on one of the movie channels the other day...WOW...unbelievably entertaining and the kid was simply from another world...almost non-human...can't recommend watching it enough...as for the stunt from the movie it was one of his inspirations and he pulled it off a bunch of times until the one that ended his life...

I like the new ones (a lot) but they don't have the same wink-wink fun side as the old ones do. Kind of disappointing. It doesn't have to be THAT serious, but I guess that came about since it was in the same time period as all of those emo-Batman movies.

Just different tastes I'm sure. Casino Royaled didn't work for me for two reasons: 1) Bond never ever falls for the girl, much less gets double crossed by her. This rule is inviolate - Bond owns all women. 2) Bond may get captured and even perhaps tortured. Leave him on an island with crocs closing in. Tie him and the girl to a moving conveyor heading toward a saw or death-laser, whatever, so long as you then leave so he can escape. But there is no way Bond gets pounded in the nuts like that. That was completely unacceptable.

I couldn't disagree more. I love the Craig movies. Yes we lost the little winks to the audience but we also avoid a lot of camp. To me they really got back to what the series could be.

Sign of the times, really. All movies these days dark reboots. That said, I think CR was really good, Quantum was poo, and Skyfall was awesome.

You're not very into Bond's back story. He was actually married and his wife was murdered. This was a reboot for the entire Bond universe (Casino Royale) and they wanted to show Bond being vunerable and paint him in a far more human light. It worked to perfection in this film. You will notice in Skyfall he is not the "falling in love with a woman" type anymore. And Expect more of that in the upcoming Spectre.

I felt in showing him bleed and get the crap kicked out of him made him more believable. I love all the different faces of Bond. Connery being my all time favorite. But Craig easily surpassed the others after Casino and Skyfall (the middle film Quatum of Solice was a train wreck and un-watchable).

But I hear ya. It's a matter of which flavor you like in your Bond flicks.

People need to remember how screwed up things were for Quantum. There were issues with writers strikes and all that. This led to it being a little messy and disjointed at times. And so it was a letdown because Casino was so good. Things got settled down and we got Skyfall which was very good.

He said this of Dr No - "Dreadful, just dreadful!", He later changed it to - "Those who have read the book will be disappointed, but those who haven't will enjoy it.". So loved the first few? He liked Connery and the movies so much that he re-wrote some of Bond's backstory to make sense with the Connery character.

Craig's the only one who's within sniffing distance of Connery as the greatest Bond. Connery is the definitive Bond. He's the GOAT. But the Craig movies (especially the first and third) are sensational. They blow every other Bond away (though I will acknowledge I was never a big Roger Moore fan - too campy for my taste).

Craig's the only one who's within sniffing distance of Connery as the greatest Bond. Connery is the definitive Bond. He's the GOAT. I would agree on Craig. I think he really became Bond in Skyfall. Connery is the man but Craig is making a real run at him. I never really cared for Moore he was just too old by the time he started and yeah there was a lot of camp to cover for it. It was almost like they were parodying themselves at the end of his run. I liked Brosnan and Dalton but Craig is really owning this thing.
