I am watching every Bond movie: please kill me (3 Viewers)

A bluray package with the 24 Bond titles is on sale for $68 at amazon. Did the older films really age that bad? I don't want to add any more dvd/BR cases to the pile that I never watch but this is really tempting. and it's pretty cheap.

Is my entire life worth just $68?

With free shipping. 😥
The Connery films are magnificent.

Except Diamonds Are Forever (meh but campy fun).

I secured the Bond 50th Anniversary Blu-ray boxset several years ago for $49.99 on a cyber Monday deal that went thru the second Daniels film and had a sleeve for Skyfall (which I filled). I of course purchased Spectre on 4K and will do the same for his last Bond film which I did not see yet.

Yes….well worth 68 bucks for a ton of fun.

Skyfall not top 18?

Skyfall not top 18?
When I started the thread 7 years ago, I was watching the blu ray set I got from movie 1 (Dr. No) forward. Technically I had not got to the first 3 Craig movies in the set yet even though I’ve seen them all.

Spectre and No Time I’ve seen since the thread was made, if that makes sense, so I added them in.

Skyfall was my favorite Craig movie and will be top-5 for me. I hated Quantum of Solace. IIRC I loved Casino Royale. I gotta bear down and finish this list.

Did you ever finish?

We’re watching Dr No tonight; the first Bond movie, seems to hold up pretty well. Then again the bar is low.

All 25 James Bond Films Are Available On Prime Video Right Now.

Watched Dr. No with my 13 year old last week. He liked it, keeps asking when we'll see the next Bond film.

I started watching them backwards last week. I mean in reverse order of course. Gone through No Time to Die, Specter and Skyfall so far. Of course it's awkward during the Craig years but I don't think it will matter as much with the other actors.

So I've been going through every Bond movie for about six months now and I just started "Live and Let Die." So obviously not going super fast.

Anyway - when the song came up, I just assumed it would be widely recognized as the greatest Bond song ever. And then I looked online and lot of people don't even have it in the top 5 or 10. That seems ... ridiculous to me. Awesome, awesome song.

Online 007 theme song rankings are part of a SPECTRE disinformation operation.

The song like the movie is kind of an odd duck. Most 007 theme songs have a style that's derived from the early John Barry scores with its blaring horns, low string guitar and minor chords. "Live and Let Die" has a little of that in George Martin's orchestral arrangement but it's mostly a McCartney song which has a bridge with a Reggae beat.

I've defended Live and Let Die the movie in this thread and it remains one of my personal favorites and a guilty pleasure. It's a crazy ride that is more fun than all the Craig Bonds put together. I think the technology exists now for a CGI Sheriff J.W. Pepper to make an appearance in the next reboot of the franchise.

I think it's one of the best things Paul did post Beatles, George Martin on board didn't hurt either. Also part of his Superbowl halftime show as I recall.

2 more with Roger Moore and Moneypenny for you. By the time A View to a Kill comes around you'll think both of them are corpses.
Duran Duran's music video for the intro is as bad as I remember. It still might be better than the actual movie though. :oldunsure: For whatever reason, the music doesn't start until 1:17 in - there's no audio at all up to that point. Also there are some movie spoilers in the video. So Capella can watch it after indulging in possibly the worst Bond girl actress ever.
I would put Tanya Roberts as the second worst Bond girl actress ever right behind Denise Richards as Dr Christmas Jones.
Britt Ekland as Mary Goodnight completes the podium

Just watched Man with the Golden Gun. She was really, really good looking.

Incredibly sexy.

The best song in a Bond movie. Definitely.

Live and Let Die is a lot of fun, but if you've never seen blaxploitation movies, you kind of don't know what's so fun about it

Great song but my vote is Goldfinger.

ETA - I just realized I may have misunderstood you. Definitely a better song than Goldfinger. I’d have to think for a bit on just songs. I was thinking more about Bond songs and their integration to the movies

View to a Kill is another really good pure song.

Ok my personal top Bond songs:

1. Live and Let Die
2. Goldfinger
3. View to a Kill
4. Skyfall
5. For Your Eyes Only
6. Nobody Does It Better (The Spy Who Loved Me)
7. From Russia With Love

That’s off the top of my head.

Sat down to watch some golf after some yard work this afternoon and figured I would see what’s going on in the Free For All and saw this thread which I have never opened. See that it was:

1. Started years ago.
2. Started by @Capella.
3. It’s still going.

I’m thinking it must have some good schtick in it, so I commence to read it. Mostly scanning the thread looking for comments from the OP, almost two hours later, a twenty minute nap, and a new leader in the golf tournament I finished this thread and the OP still hasn’t finished the series yet?!

I’m gonna need you to finish this up for me @Capella! I need completion!
