I am watching every Bond movie: please kill me (1 Viewer)

These two women just beat the straight piss out of Bond. I'm done for the night. 50 more minutes to go and this is turrrrrrible. Will finish tomorrow.

 
I thought Casino Royale was good. Even Quantum had its moments. But Skyfall was so boring. I barely made it through.

This was the first one I struggled to get through. Really bad. Confusing and sloppy mess. The ending was kind of fun, I guess, but there was no real payoff. They just run these things right to the blowup of the volcano/ocean/island base then they show Bond making out with the girl and CREDITS. But this felt even more rushed than usual. We all know Blofield escapes but why not show us how? Just a big #### you to the audience.

I can't believe there are possibly a dozen of these that are worse. And that Blofield was terrible too, I felt he was going to offer me a Werther's or something.

Live and Let Die was released during the height of the blaxploitation era, and many blaxploitation archetypes and clichés are depicted in the film, including derogatory racial epithets ("honky"), black gangsters, and "pimpmobiles".

I enjoyed all but the last Roger Moore one. They are entertaining and I loved going to watch them in the theater growing up. The stunts, gadgets, and dialogue go over the top quite a few times, but they are fun none the less.

I am curious how the movies would have turned out if different actors appeared in the other films. For example, Connery could not have done anything to save A View To A Kill. Dalton probably would not have ruined Goldfinger. Daniel Craig might have made Licensed To Kill decent. But I can't see Moore in the new Casino Royale. Or Lazenby in say Moonraker.

True... his movies were mostly highly successful... it's just that the 70's style really doesn't hold up as well... I think that's why people watching in the modern era of "tough, gritty" movies think they suck.

Admittedly Moore is the least "tough" Bond

The Bond people saw "Shaft" and figured this was a golden opportunity

They also saw Bruce Lee films as you'll soon discover.

I know a lot of you guys like him but many of the Moore films were pretty bad.

A young Yaphet Kotto is a pretty solid villain although he's overshadowed a bit by his stellar set of henchmen.

Kananga's biggest problem is his less than fiendish plot. Here's a criminal who has elevated himself to controlling a nation through the power of voodoo. He's basically succeeded where Hyman Roth and Michael Corleone failed in Godfather 2. But how does he choose to wield his immense power? By giving away heroin at a chain of soul food restaurants. That's not even good business. Who wants to go to a restaurant where all the customers are on the nod? I expect a death ray or something.

Moore gets criticized a lot for being soft but I suspect the body count in his films is just as high as the other Bonds.
