I cant stand my girlfriends mothers cooking (1 Viewer)

Security, Post Office, Warehouse, Mailrooms, Bars.... etc.

Not sure what your problem is with finding a job.
Studios are $800 minimum. Are they livable wages?
Yes. Do you think these people working these jobs live on the street? Find a ####### roommate and quit your ####### #####ing. Jesus Christ.
I cant do any of those. I have an IQ of 176 and would get bored and suffer mentally.I need to be mentally engaged which is why I like driving and cooking.
 You find driving mentally engaging????

This has become the worst thread ever.
Sure it requires constant alertness so the time goes fast

not sure if this has been asked and answered, but how did you get a girlfriend who lives 2 hours away living in a halfway house with no job and only 6 pairs of underwear?
Plentyoffish.com

She has a lot of her own issues so she doesnt judge me like most. I was upfront about everything from the beginning.

Man, you and this other guy are SO similar. What are the odds that you would become friends like this? All of the tow-truck driving schools, in all of the world, and he had to walk into yours.

So you have no access to a computer, but you're typing long responses here and working dating websites? Am I to believe you're doing all this on your smart phone?

I used to work in the trucking business in operations.

When I was there there was a huge emphasis on getting new drivers (no prior experience was not a deal breaker), there also seemed to be a TON of OTR jobs out there, its an industry where they are even willing to train you to get on board. Not buying this.

No dating sites in 7 months though

What is OTR?

Hank, what sort of driving jobs have the best entry level pay?

I will positively look in to your suggestions. I have all the endorsements . Passenger, school bus, tanker, tow, hazmat

I just havent had the hazmat and towing background checks yet til I have the fees

Over The Road, also known as Long Haul

Sample from 1 company (out of many) that has a CDL training program.

I am out of the industry now, but trucking companies are always looking for qualified drivers, so long as they are clean and sober. Long haul trucking is grueling (being away from family, loved ones, etc.) but if you are looking for a job, are professional and you really like driving, you can make a decent living wage on the road.

I dont have a family and only 1 loved one I would have to be away from. Do CDL-B drivers do long haul?

CDL A is normally required, but most of those places have training programs in place that you can earn those interest free until you start trucking solo for them.

I would think that companies that do LTL (Less than Truckload) may consider someone with a CDL B but I am not positive, unfortunately I wasnt in HR so I am not exactly sure of the qualifications necessary for some of those companies out there.

I cant do any of those. I have an IQ of 176 and would get bored and suffer mentally.

Yet (from reading the thread) you couldn't think yourself out of a paper bag and dismiss all advice as nonsense from some reasonably intelligent and successful people.

I'm betting the under and calling shenanigans.

I'm crying over here. I think you should keep doing what you're doing. Mooch of your GF's parents, tell her mom you can't stand her cooking and you want something else, and be a super genius in your halfway house. The world isn't ready for your brilliance just yet. You were born too soon.

I have excellent retention, spatial reasoning and artistic thinking.

Im an artist, writer and musician. Those people arent typically stupid.

You've been on this board now with your 4th name in 5 years talking about the same issues... Even the most unmotivated genius in the world would've accomplished something a little more by now.

I did in those 5 years. I had a good job and managed a failed marriage before 30.

Laugh now. You may think im an idiot but what you see on here has no bearing on my ability to write fiction.

Writers arent exactly models of functionality.

You arent nearly as mean as you used to be. Did you get warned about it or purchase one of those sperm extractors?

You have shown an extraordinary ability to make things up. :coffee:

Skills: Will not listen to advice; will not apply myself; beggar AND chooser; can't; won't; Makes 6 pairs of underwear last a month...

I mean, the resume practically writes itself.

You don't think you could cut it as a janitor?
I was one briefly. It wasnt a good fit.

I got this CDL-B because I like driving. One of the few things that relaxes me besides cooking.

I just dont know where to apply. I wake up feeling hopeless and physically worn out and then confusion sets in.

I just beg everyone I know to help me out with a connection because I feel thats the only way to get work since its the only way I ever have. Applying never worked so I gave up on it.

Without a hook up I dont see how to get a job with no experience. Everything I see online is minimum 2 years experience.

Everything else I have skills in will not pay a livable wage
Lots of driving jobs out there. Most CDL-B jobs are going to involve getting up at 3 in the morning and making store deliveries (or similar). As someone posted after this post, CDL-A jobs are in very high demand if you're willing to go out on the road. Lots of companies are willing to take you through their school in this environment, but those schools aren't in NYC.

Well.....im going to try local because of my girl but she has known from the beginning that I hate NY and one day I will most likely have to leave.

I will definitely look in to a long haul company that trains me in the A. Changing scenery and solitude on the road would probably be good for my mental health.

Already having the B should give me a leg up with those companies right?

Do you see me fighting him?

All you guys did was tell me to sort mail and empty sperm buckets.

You can go to any number of truck stops if you want a train in the A.

It doesn't hurt. Clean background is what they are going to want to see the most. Reach out to a few. There's no penalty to ask them.

Also - if you and your girl really want to take a plunge have her sign up as well. Team drivers are in even bigger demand and most teams are husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend teams.

Lol. My girlfriend is afraid to drive a car

If all the above is true, why wouldn't you get a job with Skyride or one of those other services that just sells tours to tourists outside the ESB and/or Times Square?

Sure it sucks and it's terrible money, but maybe doing something would motivate you to do something better.

I walked from my office to Best Buy across 14th street a few hours ago... I saw about 10 people standing on corners either holding signs for Subway, Wendy's, etc. etc...

Others handing out cards to go into businesses. Pretty sure they'll hire anyone for these jobs. Dude is just lazy.
