I don't get this trade (1 Viewer)

:boxing: Look, my little yellow head wants to fight you.
:lmao: all this nonesense aside, it really isn't a bad deal for either side... NE or MIA.As I posted above, Welker isn't really the type of player you're looking for if you're rebuilding; his ceiling isn't all that high, he won't likely ever be a true #1 WR anywhere.BUTNE isn't a rebuilding team. They've got a shot to make lots of noise over the next few seasons. Though Welker isn't an "elite", he certainly isn't a "bust" either. He's a nice fit for what NE is looking for.MIA gets a second round pick... and gets to take a player that *MAY*become an impact player.NE gets Welker... and gets a guy who's pretty much a known commodity and fills multiple needs for a team that's knocking on the door of the SuperBowl.
;) But they still overpaid. Which when your a Super Bowl contender you tend to do.

Todem played high school football. End of thread.
You know I am trying to make a point that I am not some geek or guy who has never played sports. I am not a media guy who hides behind the pencil or the mic. I have played team sports which anyone who has played at least at a college level has some idea of what it take to be successful and understands practice, workout ethic, teamwork, sacrifice. It is hard work. That was the point. Does not make me smarter than anyone else but I am not a "no nothing average fan" like the other poster keeps implying.

As a MIA fan, you probably forget what this is like... so I'll just give it to you to quiet you down... you win.

you're right. NE got fleeced. MIA really pulled one over on them. The Fins will probably be pre-season favorites to win the AFC East again. Good Luck.

Hey I don't think we pulled one over New England I just think you guy's overpaid that's all.Welker is a solid pro and I wish we still had him....but not at that price tag.

then you did look at the list of WR drafted in the second round in recent years?you realize that getting a "solid pro" WR at that draft position is far from a guarantee?Really, there's only 1 or 2 legit second round WRs that could be called a true #1 NFL WR.... the rest are a crapshoot with a fair amount of busts amongst them.Again, I stand by the statement that it was a good deal for both teams. MIA needs to rebuild and an extra second round draft pick will help them do that; NE needs a "solid pro" at WR and Return Man. I'm just failing to see how you can beat the drum that one team got the better of the other here. If anything, NE forced MIA's hand by tendering a poison pill offer to Welker and making MIA deal him. If you want to play this who "won" or "lost" in this whole trade, the NE front office clearly outmaneuvered the MIA front office.

Not glad to see the thread has ceased to become about the trade, and more about trashtalking.

The Money Welker was commanding from the Pats is more than I would want ( and the Dolphins) to pay him. The second rounder is a crap shoot I agree. But it is nice to see we are geting some picks instead of giving them away for garbage ( Feely).

Way to go out on a limb there. You want to bet that the guy puts up more than 500 yards and 3 TD's? Wow.....How could I pass that up. I know, let's bet that he doesn't score as much as he did in 2003? That's about as fair a bet.

If you want a fair bet, which is something I can't even expect from and Underwood, let's bet on whether or not he cracks the top 10? But that would be a fair bet. Not something that the cheating Underwoods are known to do....

What do you mean? I thought you'd be all over this by your statements.

Let's face it, if Moss were a stock you would've sold a long time ago. Those stats are only going down, down, down.....

231 to 203 and then 73? You call that a trend? No where near the downward spiral of Moss....

262, 151, 141, 67. See a trend?

But there is also the work ethic issue that has become very apperent lately.

With Moss we have a monster year, a statistically significant drop off to the next. A similarly low year the third year and then a 4th year where he scores about a third of what he did the first year.

By all these comments I would expect you to think he will continue his "downward spiral" and this bet would be an easy winner for you. I guess I shouldn't expect a "THOMAS" to actually put his $ (sig bet) where his mouth is. So now are you saying he will outscore last year's preformance, right? What happened to him following his trend? I'm really confused here. Do you think he will outscore what he did last year or not? I thought I saw in one of your post saying he is on a downward spiral but now you think he will outscore last year, that doesn't go witht he rest of your arguement. Which is it Scott, will he score more or less?
