I think the move to start the season on Thursday is a very good one however I just don't see the logic of the second MNF game opening week.

The second game almost seems like a afterthought and starting it at 10:00pm Eastern means the audience will be limited anyways.

Because they can capture prime time on two coasts? Starting it at 9 limits the audience as well.

Because it's awesome?
For who? Certainly no one on the east coast.
Is someone cranky 'cos it's past their bedtime?
I am on the West Coast but they can't even show the the start of the game because the first game runs long. They have the second broadcast team on it and it isn't a very good matchup. It is almost feels like you are watching a minor league game the way it is presented. This game belongs on Sunday not Monday.

Are you really complaining about this?

the Chiefs-Chargers game started on ESPN2 while the Jets-Ravens game was still going on. Perhaps if you had flipped the channels a bit....

When your husband finds out you logged onto his account and posted this your chore list is going to double.

Haha. ADVERTISING DOLLARS. The NFL doesn't make money on your opinion of a second MNF game. Funny thread.
Really? You know the ratings are going to suck for this game right?Oh and do advertisers in the first quarter get their money back because the game started on ESPN 2?
They'd suck worse if it were just a regionally broadcasted CBS game.

it's a terrible idea i've always hated.

i also hate all the thursday games... opening week and the nfl network crap

More people are tuned to ESPN on the east coast tonight than usually on Monday nights. It's simple math. Really big ratings (and ad $) for 3 hours or big ratings (and ad $) for 6 hours?I hate it, as much as I do the Thursday games since I usually have to miss them due to work, but it's not hard to understand why they have it.

Should have been a poll to see if even one person would support this outlandish crusade against more football on television.

Yea, maybe football isn't for you.
look, my ideal is all the games on saturday. I don't like nfl football on sundays.. never have... especially super bowl.would like to be able to drink and enjoy games without worrying about work the next day.2nd best would be all nfl games at noon... no 3 pm games, definitely no monday night.just get my fantasy score over with in 3 hours.but now thursday games are ruining pick 'em leagues and complicating fantasy decisions everywhere. i don't like it.

Tough? There's a better chance of Jesus descending from heaven and drafting your fantasy team then there is the NFL broadcasting all their games at one time.

Did you take a wrong turn somewhere? This is the Shark Pool. We like NFL football all the time here.

 I would vote for NFL 7 days a week if they could pull it off!

What the heck, man? No need to bash the beautiful game. They're actually great complements because the Premier League games start early in the morning before there's anything else on. On a good Saturday, I can occupy 17 hours with soccer/football.
