I don't like being the favorite. (1 Viewer)

As a Steelers fan, as soon as we were announced the favorite in the Superbowl, my heart sank. All of the news leading up to the big game will be about how a 6-seed is a favorite over a 1-seed and how this is a team of destiny for Jerome, blah, blah, blah. All great stories, yes. But if I'm a Seahawk, I'm thinking I play on a damn good team that isn't getting much respect. This is going to be great motivation for them.

At this point, I'd hope being in the Super Bowl is enough motivation for both teams. This is going to be a long two weeks... I can't wait!

I was really hoping for Seattle -2. The Seahawks are a great team and should not be taken lightly... they're every bit as good as the teams the Steelers have already beaten to get to this point. At the start of the playoffs, I told my brother : there are 5 teams of the 12 in this playoffs with a legitimate shot at winning it all : Steelers, Broncos, Patriots, Colts, and Seahawks. I was really hoping one of the other 5 teams in the NFC would emerge.

I agree. I think the Seahawks match up pretty well against the Steelers too...

There are some very sensible Steeler fans in this forum. I was just talking with some people at work about the Seahawks flying under the radar and this will be no different. The more heartwarming Bus stories the better. The more press on the Steelers, their history, their amazing run, their hard hitting style the better. Obviously both teams have a great deal of motivation but any extra for whatever reason doesn't hurt for the Seahawks. It's not about disrespect it's just about being a less known franchise playing one of the all-time great franchises in any sport (I voted Steelers in that poll a while back). As far as the game goes I hope Seattle pulls the game tapes of the Cincinnati games first to see what the Steelers did well and not so well in those games. Offensively Seattle plays very much like Cincinnati with a different set of weapons. I watched all three Cincy/Pitt games and thought then that Seattle would matchup against Pittsburgh as Cincinnati would in many aspects. Seattle's defense is just a whole lot better. I think this is going to be a pretty good game no matter how you cut it and I'm really looking forward to it like no other NFL game before.
