Brian Westbrook - RB - Eagles

Brian Westbrook was added to the Eagles' Week 11 injury report with a knee injury. He did not practice Thursday.

However, Westbrook is still expected to face the Zach Thomas-less Dolphins on Sunday. Westbrook has a history of knee injuries, so owners should track his practice workload for Friday, but he should be listed as probable.

heard him talk on sirius satellite radio this afternoon, didnt sound in anyway that he wasnt goig to play sunday. him being the only weapon on the eagles, he doesnt need to practice gets the rock enough on sundays.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. Westbrook is no stranger to the injury report, but he's also no stranger to putting up huge games on Sunday despite appearing on the injury report.

the cbs site update made it sound like he likely was just taking the day off. lets hope thats the case.

if hes not on the official injury report today, obviously its a non issue. we'll see later today

Eagles Notes | Sore Westbrook expected to play

Eagles Notes

Running back Brian Westbrook did not practice yesterday because of a sore knee, but he is still expected to be ready for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Westbrook, who routinely sat out of practices earlier this season because of a swollen knee and abdominal strain, had not missed a practice leading up to the last four games. Part of the reason the Eagles decided to rest him yesterday was that they practiced indoors on an artificial surface because of the bad weather. It probably isn't a bad idea to give Westbrook an occasional day off from practice because of his increased workload. He is averaging a career-high 25 touches per game, second in the NFL only to Pittsburgh's Willie Parker.

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said the Eagles don't go into a game with a specific number of touches in mind for Westbrook.

"Brian is an elite player in this league, and we would certainly like to get the ball in his hands enough every game," Mornhinweg said. "He's been playing fantastic and has been all year."

Westbrook used to plead for the football to come his way more often, but he's perfectly happy with his amount of touches these days.

"There have been a couple of times where I wished I would get the ball a lot more," he said. "You try to make something happen out of every play."

Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor said he thinks Westbrook can make a case for the league MVP, although there is a rumor that the award already has Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's name on it.

"He does a great job running the ball, catching the ball out of the backfield," Taylor said. "His yards after a catch have been really killing people."

this info was out yesterday before you started the topic.... seems you over reacted.Westy is fine ... just a normal day off when they practice on the turf.

Brian Westbrook - RB - Eagles Brian Westbrook (knee) missed his second consecutive practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 11 against the Dolphins. However, Westbrook may have been given Thursday and Friday off partly because the Eagles practiced on artificial turf. Coach Andy Reid revealed that Westbrook is dealing with "swelling and soreness" in his knee, but says he should be ready to go in Sunday's matchup against the Zach Thomas-less 'Fins. Westbrook owners would be smart to grab Correll Buckhalter, but can pencil in their every-week starter for now. The signs do point to him playing. Is anyone surprised by this? This has been a common theme of Westbrook for the past 3 years
not calling out Giants4Life b/c every westy thread has posts like this but does the fact that Westbrook has had knee or injury concerns in the past (and played through them) mean we shouldnt track his current situation?I try not to get defensive in here but I don’t see where im overreacting or saying im surprised or saying he wont play or anything of the like. He's a horse.. We all need him..im just passing along info..

It was reported that Westbrook has some swelling in his knee. I am not a doctor but swelling in the knee is usually not a good thing.

Save for the Sunday a few weeks back when he was yanked from the lineup at the last minute and provided those who started him a big goose egg.

This was just on the Eagles website:

A sore knee kept Brian Westbrook off the practice field for a second straight day Friday, but head coach Andy Reid believes he'll have his prized running back in the starting lineup Sunday against Miami. "He's got a little bit of swelling on his knee, a little soreness there," Reid said. "It's not bad. I think he'll be ready to go."Reid said Westbrook first noticed the soreness after lifting on Wednesday. "We were going on turf the last couple days so we pulled him out of there," Reid said.Westbrook, who ranks second in the league in yards from scrimmage, has proven in the past that he can go without practice and still shoulder the load on gameday. In Week 3 of last season, Westbrook missed practice due to knee swelling and still went out and rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers. He also hauled in a scoring pass from Donovan McNabb.
He'll be out there, productive as usual.

same as LILB above but adding rotos take:

Brian Westbrook - RB - Eagles Eagles coach Andy Reid sounds very confident that Brian Westbrook (knee, questionable) will start Sunday against the Dolphins. "We were (practicing) on turf the last couple days so we pulled him out of there," Reid said after Friday's indoor practice due to inclement weather. "He's got a little bit of swelling on his knee, a little soreness there. It's not bad. I think he'll be ready to go." The Eagles could ease back on Westbrook's career-high workload this week, but he does appear likely to start. Nov. 16 - 3:44 p.m. ET Source: philadelphiaeagles.com

One thing I never understood about the status of players. Everyone in Eagle's camp is saying that they are confident Westbrook will play, however, they bypass the probable status and list him as questionable. Can anyone answer why this is done?

I think if a player misses a practice they're considered questionable based on the parameters set forth by the NFL.

Any updates from Philly on 36? I heard John Clayton say on last nights NFL Live that he looked like he would play, but haven't seen any updates since.
