I love FBG ---- BUT (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone.. thanks for pointing out the Matt Jones error. Indeed, I did make a mistake, but it wasn't for a lack of digging or research. I'm not in the business to make mistakes - or excuses when I make them.I had to travel this week.. and wrote this article Tuesday afternoon on an airplane after having done all of my research from Sun-Tues. I submitted the article Tuesday night and thought Jones would be "better" having a week off due to the bye and time to rest/heal. Obviously that wasn't the case and when I saw the news on Jones - on Wed/Thurs - I knew that would draw attention.I'll take the stones that anyone wants to throw. I'm a man. And I'm man enough to admit that it was an error, but certainly not due to any lack of research. It came down to a timing issue. This article is always written and submitted for posting well before the injury report is published by the NFL. It doesn't always make it's way onto the site before the injury report though. Thanks for your understanding. I've since updated the article to correct the error. Also, for Levin... it's all good, Marc. I'm all about accountability. If I make a mistake, call me on it. I'll fix it. To error is human... I take pride, as do all FBGs, in producing quality material that is accurate, timely and informative. Unfortunately, it won't be the first time I've erred and it won't be the last...
Bob has to run now, folks - he's going through all of Levin's writings looking for errors ;)

As far as the responses here well I agree mostly with Bri and find the overreaction to the original poster to be a little extreme. Guy pays his subscription fee he is entitled to ask questions.
I agree, but he brought the attacks on himself by posting that in the first place. A lot of very loyal paying customers on this site who love the service FGB provides. Especially at it's relatively low cost compared to other services. When a person criticizes something that a majority of subscribers love in a public fashion, that person is going to leave themselves open to criticism. I agree he has a right to ask questions, but others have a right to constructively disagree with him.

You do realize that in the thread title he states he loves FBG. That is what I find so funny, anytime someone has anything to say about FBG, even in a constructive manner, so many feel the urge to kiss butt. If you are in a business and charging customers, certain things are expected. A customer is allowed to point things out and it doesn't mean they won't return to buy the product. FBG learns from things every year, that's how they improve and get better. Anytime a source (IE FBG) gives conflicting messages it can make a person scratch their head and cause more confusion than help. FBG doesn't do it on purpose and they do have many opinions, but many pay money for this site and they might not have the time to go to other places to verify the information. That's why they pay for this site! So, yes though opinions on one's value or success for a game may vary, the fundamental part that shouldn't. As the site cautions, it is ultimately upon the person to make the final choice to manage their roster and starting lineup, which many forget. Not directed just to you, but so many need to stop kissing the staff's butt...they are BIG boys and stand behind their material and some even stand up to admit error as Bob did here (kudos to Bob for that, not eveyone does it). They learn more from people like the orignal poster than those who follow blindly. BTW - That improves the product that you already love even more...

Some sure, par for the course posting in an open forum. However, he didn't invite the "manage my team for me Joe, tell me who to start" etc replies at all. Some replies made me wonder if they even read the original post. I read the post and it seems to me Bob gave the guy a heads up on a sleeper so he went to the blogger and player pages to do some research and found an inconsistency. That is exactly how I(and countless others here) would recommend someone do and how to use the site. Maybe after news we'd tell him check out SOS or target data but....I've chuckled to myself at some of the complaints before. I know what those guys were expecting as the initial post...it wasn't there though, not this thread.Personally, I hate when people beat on newbies. There are good football minds out there that don't frequent this board. (Just for example)A few years ago, I had no clue who Bloom was and now I think he's a gem for rookie info and seek out his posts. (I don't know how thick his skin is but) We'd never have Bloom around here if everyone beat on him on his first post. Some guys treat the board like there's some fraternity pledge supposed to happen. I wish they'd let the guys get comfy before they jump on em'. I can't control reactions and no way I can stop that from happenning so....Some newbie caught something none of us did, IMO we should welcome guys clever enough to catch things like that, not beat on em'.Also re-Marc throwing Bob under the bus. BS. The point was debated, the sleeper text and news were right there one post after another. Dead obvious. Marc didn't do anything wrong supporting Bob and someone snipping one line of his post to separate it from him trying to stick up for his buddy doesn't mean he threw him under the bus either. I'm sure we'll never know but I'd bet $ Bob is not unhappy with Marc. Someone just did some snipping and the board is too hopeful there's a problem to discuss like it's a soap opera or somesuch.

Hi everyone..
Bob would adding in news on questionable players from the blogger be a reasonable request? Or are you too strapped for time?I did notice you said you wrote that on a plane so....BTW thanks for the effort to do it on the plane for us
Bri, that's a perfectly reasonable request. What I try to do - and sometimes just overlook it or don't think of it - is put a blurb in my writeup pertaining to their injury status (providing it's known and not a NEW injury previously unreported). Not too strapped for time, this last week was just unusual as my schedule was a bit different due to travel constraints. btw, Montreal is a very cool city. :)In normal circumstances, as I write the players, I check for any status changes/updates and duly note them so there's a CYA in there.. cover your.... you know the rest.

Nah, I'll just have Marc buy me a few Fat Tire Ales next time I'm Mile High, uh... er... in Denver.

 gotcha, thanks for the reply

If you read the rest of the story, like Andy Rooney... then you'll want to give Ernest Wilford a shot this week... ESPECIALLY, if Bryon Leftwich isn't good. He's now questionable.

Wilford was MONEY against Houston last year - and Garrard looked to him often. Not sure if that means bad things for Reggie Williams. I would not take it as such, but I would upgrade Wilford a bit and also consider Marcedes Lewis for a potential breakout week now that he's finally bringing his "A" game. (He's reportedly now ready to go).
