I think I made a mistake in my rookie drafts (1 Viewer)

I had a chance to take Williams or McCluster in almost every rookie draft at the end of the first round. I opted for McCluster, but after seeing Mike Williams over the last 2 preseason games, I'm regretting that decision big time. I know its early, and its just preseason, but is there any hope that McCluster ends up the better FF player?

Any KC homers know how he'll be utilized this year? How many snaps per game? I've heard everything from Wes Welker in the slot to a poor man's Harvin. What are you guys hearing?

I chose McCluster over Williams once and tried to trade into a position to do it again (but failed to execute the trade), I'm good with the decision. Both have enormous upside, the difference between the two is the potential baggage with Williams.

If you had chosen someone like LaFell or Damian Williams over Mike Williams I think you'd have every right to be feeling buyer's remorse, but I think you'll be happy with McCluster. Dude's Percy Harvin lite without the migraines.

Guys taken before Mike Williams when I took him at 3.02. Granted our draft was in early May.

1.01 1. Mathews, Ryan SDC RB ®

1.02 2. Bryant, Dez DAL WR ®

1.03 3. Spiller, C.J. BUF RB ®

1.04 4. Bradford, Sam STL QB ®

1.05 5. Clausen, Jimmy CAR QB ®

1.06 6. Best, Jahvid DET RB ®

1.07 7. Tate, Golden SEA WR ®

1.08 8. Arrelious TBB WR ®

1.09 9. Tate, Ben HOU RB ®

1.10 10. Hardesty, Montario CLE RB ®

2.01 11. Gerhart, Toby MIN RB ®

2.02 12. Thomas, Demaryius DEN WR ®

2.03 13. LaFell, Brandon CAR WR ®

2.04 14. McCluster, Dexter KCC WR ®

2.05 15. Dwyer, Jonathan PIT RB ®

2.06 16. Starks, James GBP RB ®

2.07 17. Decker, Eric DEN WR ®

2.08 18. Williams, Damian TEN WR ®

2.09 19. Dixon, Anthony SFO RB ®

2.10 20. Whitehurst, Charlie SEA QB

3.01 21. Sanders, Emmanuel PIT WR ®

3.02 22. Williams, Mike TBB WR ®

I'm feeling rather good about my first three picks in Dez, Dixon and Williams.

I think it's easy to call something a mistake after the fact....unless you change your mind at the time of the pick. I passed on Williams in all of my drafts, but it's hard to regret it because I honestly wasn't expecting anything like this.

How could it not be expected? It's well known he has first round talent, but fell due the off the field issues, which weren't that big of a deal (I'll dig up the article if I must). Everything had Moss written all over it as far as situation goes from his rookie year. I was lucky enough to get Williams in 5 leagues.

Maybe you expected it, but I certainly didn't. I don't think anyone can automatically say they expect a rookie to turn into a stud or a bust and always be right. Obviously, it appears you nailed this one and I applaud you and anyone who did. But I don't just mean the Williams case when I speak of rookie expectations. It is not possible to automatically know a rookie will be this good. Everyone will hit some rookies as you did with Williams, but it is impossible to predict what every rookie will do. Even professional scouts missed on Williams. I did not think he was this good issues or no issues. Basically, I missed on Williams and so did others. It won't be the last one I miss either. For you and the others that got this rookie right, good job.

Yep, I missed Williams in almost every draft (landed him in just 1 league) So is there still hope for McCluster? Anyone still on his train or no? I figure the more T Jones struggles (he's looked horrible so far) the better for McCluster.

guy hasn't even stepped on the field and you guys are ready to give Williams Rookie of the Year honors. Lets see him do it 1st. I grabbed both Benn & Williams thinking between the two I'd end up with the top dawg in Tampa. I'm happy with it, and still hold out hope Benn can develop.

As far as McCluster, he's in a tricky situation cause it's hard to tell if he'll get enough touches on a game-to-game basis to reflect a high rookie pick. He went ahead of Demaryus in a draft I just did and I thought that was kinda silly considering the upside. I thought the same thing about Harvin last season, but I don't think they are same. Harvin played more WR than RB while it was the other way around for Dexter.

Thanks, but it's easier with some WRs than others. Two years ago I did the same thing with DeSean Jackson, got him in every league. Of course no one (me included) wants to talk about drafting Limas Sweed and countless other bums in the 1st round. I'll tell you right now, I've had and will continue to have my share of clunkers.

Not trying to be funny but he's HAS stepped on to the field, he is a starter and he looks like a vet. If he is available I'm taking him at the 9th spot.
