Ichiro close to re-signing with the Mariners (1 Viewer)

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2932131

There was some tool Red Sox fan here promising he'd be in Boston next year, but I forget who it was. Either way,
As usual Crappy missed the mark...
More chatter...

FWIW, Steve Phillips on XM Radio says he is hearing Boston will ship Lester, Ellsbury and Gabbard to Chicago for Buehrle and MacDougal and a 72 hour window. Never known for his accuracy, so take it with a grain of salt.

If the Sox do move Ellsbury, then it is possible he wasn't ever part of the long term plan and you can pencil in Ichiro into CF next year, book it.

The Sox have 45 million coming off the books; its possible Buehrle and Ichiro are the two big pieces they plan to spend it with. We'll see.

The feeling grew Monday night that Chicago White Sox left-hander Mark Buehrle would be traded to the Boston Red Sox. If the deal goes through, don't be surprised to see Buehrle sign a multiyear deal, making him more than a rental player. ...

Right, Ichiro is re-signing with the Mariners because the Sox haven't moved Ellsbury on July 10th. :excited: :lmao:

You should stick to not knowing anything about other topics.

Dude the only tool in this thread is you. You said a Red Sox fan from this board promised he would be in Boston next year. But as usual you have no clue what you are talking about. I never said that, I quoted chatter from a different board, get your facts straight before you start slinging the 'T' word.

I never even mentioned your name until you popped in. I don't even know who you are. :goodposting: Sorry you were wrong about Ichiro, it happens. Now you can start stirring up those Teix rumors.

I still stand by not liking this signing for baseball reasons. Ichiro is having a career year right now. In 2005 and 6 he hit .303 and .322 and had OPS+ of 109 each season. If you think those types of numbers (which are probably closer to his "average" numbers) are worth 20 million so be it, but I don't. Having said all that, from a marketing standpoint they had to pay him.
:sadbanana: His name is better then his stats. He is a very good player, but how much of his game is based off of speed? Do you really want to sign someone his age to a 5 yr deal when his game has such a reliance on speed?

How do you know I wasn't talking about this quote, alias?

I've heard Ichiro to Boston is about a sure bet as there is :lmao:
Quite the complex you have going on there.
right, because guru really sounds confident there (the sarcasm is poured on as thick as it comes), and take a look at the day he posted that and the time, then compare to my quote.whatever, I just think the red sox hate has reached new levels on this board and it is unfounded.

 could be this

http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=321703

or this

http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=321703

or the fact that a Red Sox fan started this thread

http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=324169

I don't hate the Red Sox at all, I was born there and Fenway was the first park my dad and I ever went to. But, saying that the hate for the Red Sox around here is unfounded is not realistic. I sometimes think Red Sox fans want to be hated more than Yankee fans. If not, they're giving it all they've got.

Sammy, I am going to have to disagree with you here in that Ichiro is not having a career year. In fact, this is a slightly better than above average year for him. Also, I think Ichiro is way better than JD Drew, way better defensively, and better offensively (considering Ichiro is good for at least 150 more ab's each year). But, I do think the salary discussed is too high for Ichiro. Considering he is 34 and not 29, he will not produce enough to make this salary make sense for the Mariners on the field. Of course, he will more than offset this in that that Mariners will make money at the gate and marketing one of the most popular players in the game (he is one of my favorite players too)

I guess so long as you conveniently forget who the red sox tool was it is o.k.

I am going to start my posts by saying there was some tool Devil Ray's fan that said, "...", but I forget who it was...

If Teix goes to the Red Sox he's the best hitter in baseball. If he goes anywhere else he's fat and overrated.
I am on record saying the Red Sox should avoid Teix...beware the price tag
Noted. Hopefully you'll never get the chance to change your mind. ;)
nip :coffee:
