The pool seems divided evenly on the Stecker / Thomas debate. The Thomas camp is looking a the depth chart earlier in the season, and using it as reason to think he'd emerge if no Reggie / Deuce. The Stecker camp thinks Thomas was involved because Stecker was injured at the start of the season, and point to last year, and more recently the last few games, as evidence that he'll emerge if no Reggie / Deuce.I'm going with the Stecker camp. But...I'd be surprised if Deuce is out of the picture before the return of Reggie. Hopefully, we'll get a better clue next week assuming someone has eyes on practice and can report who's running most with the first team.If the tea leaves imply that a suspension is likely in the next few weeks....Payton may tip his hand Sunday by getting one of these guys some extra carries to get them ready.I'm going to guess stecker, but I can't really say I'm very familiar w/the saints.the only reason I can even give you half an ### on that guess is I own deuce.edit:my reasoning would be that I just checked some game logs, and it looks like stecker was getting 20 carries towards the end of '07, while thomas only got a handful.anyway, somebody's already got thomas, so I'm rolling w/stecker -- any womb in a storm.

If you want to talk reality, there is very little chance Deuce is suspended before Reggie returns to the field. In fact, if there is a suspension ordered sometime in the next few weeks, it is HIGHLY LIKELY it would be served at the beginning of next year, not this.
Travis Henry had a much more severe case and he put it off last year. Deuce has been a model NFL citizen and I know for a fact he took this to lose weight. He was out of shape and needed to loose every pound he could to stand a chance on those two surgically repaired knees. This is a tough break for him but I think the NFL will see that and give him time for an appeal and may even go easy given his circumstances. They have to punish him of coarse but I dont think they make this huge example out of him either. To the thread starter- Thomas has never been featured in the Saints backfield when Stecker has been healthy. Given Pierre's recent failures at Washington and Denver I dont see it changing. IMO Its Steckers job too loose if Bush and Deuce are out.Curious what leads you to this conclusion? The Pool's collective thoughts on this are easily found:

Henry sued the league, because they did not allow his own testers to be present. The Shark play isnt grabbing Stecker or Pierre, its grabbing Deuce from who ever cuts him to pick up one of these guys.
How do you know it for a fact? How do you know that a guy coming off his second knee surgery in three years didn't also use it to hide the fact that he was taking a steroid to help with his recovery? How do you know he wasn't using it for both reasons?Travis Henry had a much more severe case and he put it off last year.
