IF (big if) Deuce is suspended for 4 games at some point (1 Viewer)

I'm going to guess stecker, but I can't really say I'm very familiar w/the saints.

the only reason I can even give you half an ### on that guess is I own deuce.

edit:

my reasoning would be that I just checked some game logs, and it looks like stecker was getting 20 carries towards the end of '07, while thomas only got a handful.

anyway, somebody's already got thomas, so I'm rolling w/stecker -- any womb in a storm.

The pool seems divided evenly on the Stecker / Thomas debate. The Thomas camp is looking a the depth chart earlier in the season, and using it as reason to think he'd emerge if no Reggie / Deuce. The Stecker camp thinks Thomas was involved because Stecker was injured at the start of the season, and point to last year, and more recently the last few games, as evidence that he'll emerge if no Reggie / Deuce.I'm going with the Stecker camp. But...I'd be surprised if Deuce is out of the picture before the return of Reggie. Hopefully, we'll get a better clue next week assuming someone has eyes on practice and can report who's running most with the first team.If the tea leaves imply that a suspension is likely in the next few weeks....Payton may tip his hand Sunday by getting one of these guys some extra carries to get them ready.

By the time McAllister is suspended (after all the appeals and such) Bush will be back and it won'tbe worth it to pick up anyone.

You would have known this already though if you looked in the other post about McAllister instead of starting a new one...

If you want to talk reality, there is very little chance Deuce is suspended before Reggie returns to the field. In fact, if there is a suspension ordered sometime in the next few weeks, it is HIGHLY LIKELY it would be served at the beginning of next year, not this.

I'm a Saints guy and I read about them every day. I watch most of the games too. I can't tell you who it is because I don't know, but my guess would be Stecker. I just think he is a better all-around back and Payton loves him.

Like the others have said though, Deuce likely won't be suspended until around the time that Reggie is back- so this whole discussion is probably academic.

Seems like folks believe with BOTH Duece and Bush out, you will see both PThomas and Stecker. PThomas: goalline and inside carries, Stecker 3rd down and receptions.

BUT

1. I don't think we see both Duece and Bush out at the same time (suspension, if it happens, can't happen immediately and likely Bush is back before that happens).

2. There will be a committee of some type, regardless which of the 4 RBs are avail.

3. I do agree with the Audible (Cecil and Bloom) that PThomas seems to have had his chance early in the season (I didn't realize Stecker was hurt then), and Thomas seems to have blown it. I saw some failed 3rd/4th and short and goalline attempts by Thomas (I had him on both my teams), but he got plenty of chances.

So....I picked up Thomas in my TD heavy league and Stecker in my PPR league. Not sure either will work out, but not bad to diversify a bit and just see what happens.

BTW, New Orleans has a nice playoff sched weeks 14-16 (maybe week 15 not so much...)

ATL @CHI @DET

Never understood the point of these threads.

Who freaking knows? Heck I doubt Sean Payton has figured this one out yet.

Curious what leads you to this conclusion?

Travis Henry had a much more severe case and he put it off last year. Deuce has been a model NFL citizen and I know for a fact he took this to lose weight. He was out of shape and needed to loose every pound he could to stand a chance on those two surgically repaired knees. This is a tough break for him but I think the NFL will see that and give him time for an appeal and may even go easy given his circumstances. They have to punish him of coarse but I dont think they make this huge example out of him either. To the thread starter- Thomas has never been featured in the Saints backfield when Stecker has been healthy. Given Pierre's recent failures at Washington and Denver I dont see it changing. IMO Its Steckers job too loose if Bush and Deuce are out.

The Shark play isnt grabbing Stecker or Pierre, its grabbing Deuce from who ever cuts him to pick up one of these guys.

Henry sued the league, because they did not allow his own testers to be present. That is a big difference than what is going on here.

How do you know it for a fact? How do you know that a guy coming off his second knee surgery in three years didn't also use it to hide the fact that he was taking a steroid to help with his recovery? How do you know he wasn't using it for both reasons?

From what I have read, it's a banned diuretic. It doesn't matter WHY he took it. Unless he got prior approval from the league, he shouldn't have taken it. PERIOD.
