If Z Miller end up not in Oak...who is their TE (1 Viewer)

Who would be the guy to pick up if they dont sign someone else like Boss. Maybe Marcel Reese Switches to TE?

Depth chart:

David Ausberry, Kevin Brock, Richard Gordon, Brandon Myers

I think Ausberry is an intruiging option and is a S/W/L athletic type that could take Miller's role. Boss would open to signing with the Raiders if Zach leaves. If Zach does leave, it might be a blessing in disguise for the wideouts. Jason Campbell will be forced to go downfield more. Myers is a nice blocking TE but nothing more.

If Zach leaves, it would be quite a blow, and there is no replacing Miller's stats with the options stated above.

Anyone else surprised the raiders are trying for Teyo Johnson part II in Ausberry?

Bo Scaife is out there, Kevin Boss...maybe David Thomas?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders signed John Carlson from the Seahawks, he is in his final year of his contract and could be traded or released after the signing of Miller. As a 'Hawks fan, I am very happy about the Miller signing.

I would guess that Seattle wouldn't outright release Carlson as he still has value. Seattle has a lot of TEs on their roster at the moment so they would likely trade Carlson, and my guess is he would be worth a conditional 5th.Personally I don't see the difference between the two players. Yes, Miller had a better statistical season and is a better blocker, but don't forget that Carlson was kept in to block for a large portion of last year when Russell Okung was injured. If I had to bet, Pete Carroll would rather roll with Miller and Carlson in 2-TE sets as they move to their rush game--the Seahawks are going to be really weak at passing until 2012 when they get a new QB.

Source says Kevin Boss is the 31 option to take over for ZMiller.I like the suggestion of ScottyDog for Al to go after John Carlson if Miller does indeed go to Seattle.

Was just reported that they are finalizing a deal and it will be done tomorrow morning
Dude, that guy is not a worthy source, lol. If your gonna keep using this guy whos always wrong. I will take it upon myself to let people know how wrong he has been,He confirmed Nnamdi to Jets, he confirmed SMoss to KC, and said Randy would be signing in Indy... none of which happened.

Just saw this posted

ccording to John Clayton, the Raiders and Seahawks are “going at it” to aquire the services of Zach Miller. It’s the first time in over a week that Miller has been linked to any team other than the Raiders. News escalated very quickly once it was reported that Miller was visiting Seattle, and it appears the Seahawks don’t want to send him home a free agent. Pete Carroll is a capable NFL coach, but he’s an elite recruiter. He understands that in order sign Zach Miller, he may need to lock him up tonight.

This situation seems alot like the Jets efforts to keep Antonio Cromartie. It would have taken a very sweet deal for Cromartie to leave the Jets for the uncertainty of a .500 team. Although the Seahawks made the playoffs last season, they have far more question marks than Oakland going forward. It should take a very aggressive offer to pry Zach Miller away from Al Davis.

Either way, the leverage is seems to be with Zach Miller at this point, and you can bet the thought of losing Miller to Tom Cable’s new team would really sting Al Davis. Al may have to open up his check book, but the Raiders should still be considered the favorite to land Zach Miller.

(I tend to agree that if the Seahawks didn't lock up Miller today Aug 1. Then he will sign with the highest bidder which will be with the Raiders.)

Its a huge if.

If that happened then rookie Gordon who was the shock of Oakland's draft could be a big surprise. Miller is really good but Oakland is TE friendly too. Otherwise it could be a committee approach. Another rookie Ausberry just converted from WR but that will take time as blocking is a huge responsability. Free agency is possible but Boss doesnt quite seem like Oakland's type at least not long term. What would be funny is if Oakland traded for the other Zach Miller.

I think Miller's end back up in Oakland. They've been waaay too relaxed trying to re-sign their best receiver.

They could have locked him right when FA started. Only the Raiders...

didn't you confirm Nnamdi to the Jets as well? Was he your "source"?
Yes I posted it after a friend posted him, until I researched and openly said i got it from a bad source and deleted not even after 10 seconds of posting it. Follow him at your own risk if you like to be misled. Like PFT said, he is the best educated guesser out there after getting the info the people in the know post on Twitter, all the big names have done some research, read twitter, he is a fake.I will do my best to let fellow FBG posters to know he is not accurate, ever. There is a difference between reporting and repeating, he just repeats what he sees on Twitter. I mean why not, people follow, and he has no one to crack down on him if he is wrong....like he always, always, always is.

You should...morning gone, no signing... Bob wrong again. I have to ignore Eak as if he keeps repeating this guys misinformation with all the warnings I've given him. Makes Eak as misinformed as Bob...not very. If people provide false information, and stand by it, even after they are wrong time and time again, those are the poison to a board like this.

Hold everything, the AM has past. Bob is wrong again. And now a credible source has Zach Miller staying put in Oakland.

Papa says Miller re-signing could happen today

By Steve Corkran

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011 at 10:54 am in Oakland Raiders.

For what it’s worth, and it should count as plenty given he is employed by the Raiders, Greg Papa said on a radio show this morning that he thinks tight end Zach Miller isn’t going anywhere and that the re-signing might be announced today.

Papa threw out his take on the situation on a 95.7-FM show that he co-hosts. When you’re the play-by-play announcer for the Raiders, you can bet Papa isn’t just throwing in his 2 cents and that he is basing things on talks with Raiders personnel people and other Raiders employees.

Miller is an unrestricted free agent. He visited the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, where he got a chance to see former teammate Robert Gallery and former coach Tom Cable. Word from Seattle is that the Seahawks put on a strong push to get Miller signed.

One thing complicating the Miller re-signing is the Raiders salary-cap situation. They freed up considerable room Monday by restructuring the contract of linebacker Kamerion Wimbley, essentially shifting much of the cap liability from this year into future years, at a cost of an additional $17.7 million.

ESPN’s John Clayton reported Monday that the Raiders were $17.1 million over the cap before the Wimbley deal was redone. Therefore, the Raiders still have at least $7 million more to clear before they can re-sign Miller or other players. Teams have to be in compliance with the cap Thursday.

Another help are the provisions in the new collective bargaining agreement that allows teams to borrow $3 million from another year and as much as $3.5 million more to use in re-signing a veteran player.

Incarcerated Bob is a guy from NJ that was released from prison and started calling into the Boomer and Carton show on WFAN (NY Sports Radio) and talked about sports gambling. He used that "fame" to start a website that gave his gambling tips and has now started acting like an insider on twitter to extend his fifteen minutes. He just repeats rumors.

I hate to say that he got this one, someone should post his predictions or claims to see how accurate this guy is.

They got Boss per Schefter Tweet.

Filed to ESPN: Raiders reached agreement with former Giants tight end Kevin Boss on a four-year, $16 million.

Who does that leave for the Giants?

Now that Kevin Boss has absconded to the Oakland Raiders, Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News report that the Giants will have to turn to tight end by committee. Travis Becum has been designated as the primary ball-catching tight end while Ben Patrick will be used as a blocker. The Giants are not a team that uses the tight end as one of their primary offensive weapons. Kevin Boss played every down he was healthy last year and still managed only 69 catches in 15 games.I believe the receptions are off...he didn't have 69 receptions last year.
