IKEA is the worst place on Earth! (1 Viewer)

From the overcrowded store, to the lack of employees to answer questions or assist you, the cheap ####ty stuff, the long line when you leave, and then the crappy picture directions when you get the garbage home. I refuse to step foot in that piece of #### store and when my wife goes I cringe when she gets home knowing the headache of putting that #### together and the possibility of arguing afterwards, her from the stress of being in that Swedish ####hole, me from assembling this cheap ####, and then her again for trying to fix my mess ups.

#### YOU IKEA!!!

IKEA pluses.....

The cafeteria isn't bad.

It's not a bad place to let the kids run around

It's not a bad place to see layouts for rooms

They do have some decent lighting and knick knack type things...particularly for the kids

IKA minuses......

The furniture is too expensive for what you get (pressed and particle board and hex bolts)

You got to put the stuff together yourself

It's easy to #### up furniture with the ####ty directions

It's too expensive for what you get. Just go to a tag or estate sale in a nice neigborhood and get nice quality wood pieces of furniture for cheaper prices.

In short....Cheers for their lighting and Lingonberry Lemonade......Jeers for their ####ty furniture and faux Swedish efficency.

I actually don't mind the picture directions. A simple minded person like me needs pictures. I agree with pretty much everything else. I hate IKEA.

I go to the one in Elizabeth about once a year. Other than the long lines, I don't have any issues. I mostly only buy small items like dishes or pillows or wastebaskets.

Got my kitchen cabinets from ikea. Turned out nice. The specifying and ordering process was like being a political prisoner in North Korea.

Every time I'm in IKEA I am struck by the same thought - could one of you just come over and decorate/organize/renovate for me? Would be a lot easier...

I hate that once you start walking through their hamster maze, you're pretty much invested in seeing it through all the way to the end. And that takes a good two hours.

On the plus side: you can get a huge bamboo cutting board for like $18.

Difficult directions? You serious, Clark?

I'd rather shop there than a traditional place anytime. I hate being met at the door by some schmo begging me to look at bedroom sets so he can chase his commission.

Larry has a wife and kids to feed. And his dad has expensive treatments for his angina. Let him show you this model that just came in. It's a bit higher end, but he thinks you'll like it.

I dont mind it. It was the best place to buy platic dishes when the kids were younger. We still have some of the plastic cups, spoons and forks.

I don't like the rate maze either. All their furniture is cheap and boring and plain. Took 2 hours to finally leave the store with useless kitchen gadget I never figured out and ended up donating. Meatballs were good, but I didn't care for having to bus my own table.

Never again.

Never been in one. Don't plan on breaking that streak anytime soon.

I volunteered at my kids elementary school. That was way worse than Ikea.
I spent four hours in a kindergarten class this morning and was daydreaming about IKEA the whole time.

:goodposting:

Plus I don't feel bad about throwing it out when I get tired of it.

Was actually there last Saturday and got a $2 wall clock for my daughter's room. $2 freakin' dollars.

IKEA furniture is easy as hell to assemble
I did one of their bunkbeds for my kids and it was pain in the ### with all those Swedish slats.
That's my daughter's bed. Only thing worse than putting it together was taking it apart and putting it back together when she moved rooms.

Set fire to it. Sweep up ashes. Buy new one.

it's a great place for kid's furniture and cheap kitchen items. I also their organization stuff and lighting.

pretty much anything kids is a great value there. We have some kids plates and cups we use every day just used to them.

We have a few pots of theirs that we use 3-4x a week for the last 10 years.

Their sofas are way overpriced for the lack of quality. The office furniture is also overpriced. We're moving into a new place and have been shopping for a new living room set and home office.

Are about 30 Swedish meatballs there a couple years ago. Spent about an hour in the can writhing in pain. Never again.

Trust me it crossed my mind. But that would probably entail getting dragged back to IKEA again to buy something else. No thanks.

I don't go to Ikea but I can't imagine anything being worse than Walmart. That place is a freak show.
The worst thing about Ikea is that it's impossible to get in and out quickly. If you know exactly what you want and where it is in the store it will still take quite a while to get through the maze you're forced to walk through and herd of people. Plus the checkout lines are always backed up.

Walmart doesn't have that problem.

Walmart is loaded with eye candy, both good and scary/hilarious. I love driving to the one in the next county over. Trailer trash teen moms in pajama pants, paying for their Doritos and Kool-Aid with their EBT cards

There's good eye candy at walmart? I think you're thinking of Target. We don't have any trailer trash teen moms in this or the surrounding counties.

MILFs galore in Target. Great place!

It's fine for what it is. Biggest problem with it really for me is that you have drive like 45 minutes to get to one. Wherever I live, it's half a county away.
